  1. I like around 26ipt for all moving baits. I have tried the 7 speeds and hated them. When I was younger I developed my default reeling speed on a 6.5:1 shimano caenan, so I stick with that. I prefer 8.X:1 for frogs and bottom baits.
  2. I had an allstar 66MH, was a great spinnerbait rod. Worked well with poppers as well. More of a modfast
  3. Assuming it is a modfast type action, like all rods at that price point?
  4. I feel like the chronarch does feel hollow. It is extremely smooth, but it lacks the solidity of the curado platform, for the reasons DVT states above.
  5. Maybe I will just go to BPS and pick one out. right now I am leaning toward the dobyns. 64 bucks on sale, and I know the action Of the 703 well, wish I hadn’t sold my fury.
  6. Looking for a cheap spinnerbait/general moving bait I can use to walk the banks and throw single hook moving baits with. Tired of carrying around reel/rod covers and worrying about the equipment being scratched. It needs to be a slower action rod, something M-MH, mod fast, will probably but 14lb suffix siege in there, maybe advance. Mostly considering -All Star rod, 7M or 7MH -Dobyns colt 703 What do do you guys think? Will throw an SLX on it.
  7. i just ordered one so will report back in a week or two when It arrives.
  8. IMO The Curado platform Is the best Value in the Shimano lineup. The SLX platform is smaller and cheaper but it lacks the technology that the Curado K and DC have, namely X-Ship (Bearing supported Pinion) and Micromodule Gearing (smaller better meshed gears), and as a consequence does not feel as refined under load. The gearing on the Curado K is the same as oh the more expensive models in the USDM lineup, save the Antares.
  9. Another option could be the IMX pro 884.
  10. I don’t really fish a ton of thick weeds, but better safe then sorry. I tried a 71HF tatula and diddnt especially like it, too was too stiff to work the frog/load properly.
  11. Has anyone used the 72H or 76H for these techniques?
  12. Curado K would be great for well under 300. IMO the DC is not a much better caster, and it feels bulkier in hand
  13. Personally I would pay that much for a reel without X-ship or mm gearing
  14. Do you feel the Bantum feels th most solid out of the 3? I have a chronarch and it is great, but it does feel hollow at times.
  15. I would guess the bass master classic-if it were next years ICAST I don’t think it would have gone on sale so soon.
  16. Expride 7M glass if you have the money. I think the fury or colt 703 would work perfectly well though.
  17. Agreed, it isn't quite as smooth as the chronarch but it feels more solid, the chronarch is hollow by comparison.
  18. You don’t like the Curado K? I have loved mine.
  19. I'd go Chronarch MGL for bottom baits or Curado DC for reaction. The Metanium MGL would be around 300 from Digitaka, but it does have a 70 sized spool and no U.S. warranty.
