I have never gotten that code to work and am looking to pick up a Tat SV if I can find one around $100. Do you know any specfic vendors that the code works for?

I recently picked up my first Shimano reel and I am having a hell of a time getting the brakes set correctly. Most all of my other reels are Daiwa mag/sv and I have no idea about other braking systems. Right now I have the reel on a M/XF rod and have been casting stuff like a t-rig Super Fluke (~1/4oz) on the low end and say a Duo Pencil 110 (~3/4oz) on the high end. To get any distance with any but the heaviest I need to do the following: 1) Internal brake "shoes", 3 off and 1 on. 2) External brake dial, set to 3-4 out of 1-6 settings 3) Spool tension knob set to give a fast drop but not wide open. This gives me acceptable distance but it's often right on the edge of uncontrollable and to get the fluke to cast well I have to keep it set so loose that it takes a firm thumb to control loose coils to the point where it ends up costing me distance. If I go lighter on the dial it gets uncontrolable in a hurry. If I go any heavier the casting distance props off quickly. The reel is 100% stock and I have not flushed the bearing or anything like that yet. The reel did feel like it was packed with grease out of the box but it has loosed up a lot in a few hours of fishing. I love how the reel of palms but I need to get the brake adjustment set up if I am going to keep it. Can anyone suggest what I am doing wrong?

I will also admit a weakness for fussing over things like tackle sorting. On foot I only carry a single 3600 + a handfull of misc lures and on my yak I only take 4-6 boxes. While I love spending an evening sorting my gear for the next morning's trip, it is really nice to just be able to go "ok, grab the M/XF, the fluke box, the finesse jig box, handfull of poppers and jerks, and packing is done" when I want to make a more impromptu trip.

I was about to post a thread about RESs rolling over on the retrieve. I use them a lot and occationaly have one that will allways roll, but I just picked up four of them at the BPS Clasic sale and two of them are doing it. Im using 12lb Invisx and slowly cranking them in on a 6.x:1 reel. I tried to tune one of them by twisting the line tie but it does not seem to effect the action any.

I am still waiting for the "R-Type Pro Edtion Megastrike w/ racing stripe and flip-top cap". My toothpaste tube cap never fit right and I am still working through the tubes I bought trying to find the perfect cap.

I do this to an extent, about half of my 3600 boxes are packed for a specfic combo to make trips more grab-n-go. The rest of my 3600 and and increasingly large number of 3500 boxes are packed with a specfic presentation in mind. So I can either grab a combo and it's box of "favorates" or I can grab a combo and a few boxes to cover the conditions I expect to face that day/place.

Has anyone heard anything about the parking area at Keep Tryst Road up by Harpers Ferry being closed? There was something about CSX posting "No Trespassing" signs up there on some C&O canal biker email-list I am on. I love wading up there, but the parking issues were bad enough before, if Keep Tryst is closed it will rarely be worth making the drive now.

I made it to the Boonsboro one, but didn't know about the other. There are a few saltwater focused shows over the winter, but it's not really worth the time to get a table to sell 2-4 rods. I always found it annoying when people post "local pick up only" WTS ads on non-local forums, but for rods that are going to sell for less then $100-150, I don't see any other way to do it without making it not worth the trouble. I might take some pictures and post a local-only add myself in the next few days, I need to clear out some space in the rod rack asap.

Yea, I have found no rhyme or reason when it comes to shipping costs. I have paid between $60 to $25 and I cant figure out the differece. I have a few rods I want to sell but after shipping it isnt worth what I can get for them.

I like having a lot of combos and limited tackle. I go both ways, where most of my rods are more on the versatile side, with a few oddball technique specfic rods mixed in. I just picked up what might be the untimate "1/16-1/8oz Inline Spinner Rod" and I am pumped to get a reel sorted out for it. For lures I try to keep it simple, with only one or two different brands/ colors per different lure type/style.

Huh, I am using a #1 or 1/0 Owner Wacky hook. I didn't realize that most guys go larger. I don't fish a wacky senko very much at all, but have never noticed any hook up issues. I do like the idea of using a small EWG hook for both t-rigging and wacky.

I have the XX drop shot rod and while I really like it for that presentation, I dont like it for much else. It's a clumsy feeling to cast, which matters much less when throwing an already clumsy DS rig, but I can't seem to get any accuracy with it when throwing other baits.

MajorCraft has a ton of 2-piece rods across most of their ranges.

At long last, a bass of reasonable size; This one is going threw a rebellious phase, thus the black lipstick; And, this is my best pickerel so far for the year; I am longarming it big time, but it was still a monster. I got him on a little sjr 6400 imx and 4lb mono. That little rod is a beast, I am going to respool with 6lb mono and that is going to be my new Ned Rig rod.

1) 3.75" Rage swimmer, more durable then Keitechs and I don't need the subtle wiggle in a trailer. 2) Rage Menace, small profile, good action, I usualy need to trim the jig skirt when I use these though. 3) Rage Shellcracker. They only work well with Owner Deep Throat hooks, but they have a super subtle action and a perfect small panfish profile.

Looking at it on a map, I have no idea where I was thinking of, but Four Mile run clearly isn't it.

Has anyone tried using pipe insulation to protect a rod in shipping? It seems like it would work well. I keep buying new rods to "replace" ones I already have, but I have yet to get around to selling any of the old ones due to not wanting the hassle of shipping them.

I have also been looking at either the FMJ or a nrx 873ccr as a dedicated jig rod. It's neck and neck so far, but I have had no luck finding either to get my mits on before I buy.

BreakFree CLP is actualy what people think WD-40 is, if that makes any sense. I love the stuff and along with white lithium grease and ATF fluid, forms the holy trinity of "do all lubricants".

I have a pair of Stradic Ci4+ reels, a Stradic FJ, and a Dawia BG. If weight were not an issue I would take the BG over the Ci4+ reels.

The sv105 with a Ray's/DIY spool is really nice and will cast down quite low with good to descent control.

I try to go about 3-4 times a week. A lot of those are very short trips to one of the little ponds by my house after work. My job is very hot/cold, so sometimes I don't make it out for weeks and some times I can go every day for a month. Last season I spent a ton of time, maybe close to half of all my time on the water, at a single small pond by my house. It really payed off as my PB from that pond jumped up a full pound and my average size went up almost as much.
