I wonder if one could rig a normal small c clamp, with a hole drilled for pin clearance, and make it work.

I've never used one of these tools before so, take this with a grain of salt. How hard are the pins to get out, once they're flush with the rod portion? If it's something that comes out rather easily at that point ( maybe something small enough to push it through without much resistance ) I would think that one could just drill a hole in a pair of pliers to have a place for the pin to go as it's coming out.

That's a lot like saying more people die from falling down the stairs, in houses with stairs. Or, more people drown in pools, who own pools. Fact.........more lives are saved with guns used by good people, be it police, CCW holders, or everyday Joe's with a home defense weapon, than number of people who die because of them. And of the number of people who die because of them, the overwhelming majority of those deaths are criminals.

I'm certainly not saying that there aren't places with higher crime rates than others, Ultimately, each person is responsible for protecting themselves (family). If we all had that attitude, it wouldn't matter what the statistics said one way or the other. The problem is, far too many people rely on someone else to protect them ( police etc. ) But we're getting way off topic here.

The Spook Jr in my avatar has landed me many fish. I've caught more on that bait than any other, over the past couple months. When they work, they're awesome.

Crime has steadily gone down since the mid 90's. The FBI statistics bear that out. As to why it seems to be going up? 24 hour news cycles, social media, and now almost everyone has a video recorder (cell phone) with them at all times. http://www.wanttoknow.info/g/violent_crime_rates_reduction

I don't anticipate any riots coming out of this. We don't tend to see very many Caucasian riots from shootings involving the shooter being of a different race.

It will never stop. People are just going to have to come to the realization that we can't control evil people, whether it's hoping to find out before it happens, or trying to over control the tools some of these pukes use to commit these crimes. RIP to Alison Parker and Adam Ward.
