  1. Agreed. The mh ethos fishes similarly to an 843 loomis in regards to how the blank behaves. More ideal for spinnerbaits/chatterbaits imho, but I've 'gotten'r done' using just about anything with this rod at local ponds.
  2. Cxx. I'm a believer in p line's coating process. It's like trilene 2.0 for me.
  3. Cxx. It was easy to make the switch from trilene xt/xl to pline cxx/cx premium respectively back in '99.
  4. Received my order from Japan lure shop Tuesday. They sent me a Steez H instead of the SH, but it has nestled into my 843 and I've decided to keep it. More accurately, I was unable tp send it back . The steez feels awesome... as billed. The real surprise is the zillion. I had a couple of the og zillions years ago, but this new deal here is significantly more refined and lighter. Can't wait to get them on the water.
  5. Yes...a couple of times. The last time it happened, the reel was loss and the bass was running down the bank. Tried to set the hook with my arm, but it didn't work. It's panic in the disco when that happens.
  6. I haven't used tatsu, but did do gamma on a few reels a while back when it first came out. Gamma is a nice line...very manageable. However, it's thick...cxx thick, and I think it's overpriced when compared to other lines that have come out since. A lot of guys were shelling out for gamma because back in like '06 or 7 when it came out, the fluoro market was small and most lines weren't very manageable. That said, it can still hang, just check your diameters before choosing your test.
  7. http://www.lakeforktexas.com/news--fishing-reports--Lake-Fork-Fishing-Report-for-April-26-2016/3503 I would check out some guide pages as well. Tom Redington comes to mind. They divulge quite a bit of info. The texas fishing forum would be a good place to visit also.
  8. Picked up a pair of nrx's after a good night at the casino. 852 and 803 with daiwa ballistics.
  9. Rod sensitivity is only subjective because we don't have an instrument to measure it currently. I bet the banter in the car stereo world was similar before the decibel meter came out.
  10. They don't make that rod anymore...found that out looking for a jerkbait rod earlier this year. I also like the 6' for jerkbaits...
  11. Been throwing them on a spinning rod with 8lb line since I learned to fish the rogue back in the 80's. You can back-boat some folks if you throw them on your spinning rod....especially if you line-jump and get it deep.
  12. Considering the lifetime replacement...why not have a glx for the rest of yout life? Go for it dude. ..glxs are serious rods. Be that guy
  13. I purchased a few of those ml villains as well. Really like the blank...more responsive and sensitive than I thought it would be. I wish the handle wasn't so skinny though.
  14. The gene larew 8" hook tail worm in the color tomato just dominated for me in the '80s/early '90s. They still make them, but they are not hand poured anymore, and the color isn't the same. Give red worms a shot though...or anything red for that matter in the spring.
  15. I like the purple accents with the red...gives it flavor. Not having all the colors match can look good...look at the ito.
  16. Well...under filling could explain the excessive coiling. I say don't overfill, but I do like them to the brim on my casting outfits.
  17. Line jumping off the spool usually occurs with over filling the spool, so make sure you aren't overfilled. Sniper is just so soft to me...it sounds like you are battling 25 lb cxx
  18. That thing looks like it could hold $100 worth of tats
  19. This is the rod I would recommend. http://www.academy.com/shop/pdp/h2o-xpress-ethos-7-mh-freshwater-casting-rod
  20. I also looked at that rod from ffo. Nice to read some reviews on it. I thought the grip did look short.
  21. I throw everything ...I just named a special one.
  22. The lifetime transferable warranty loomis provides is worth $500 alone. When my great grandson breaks the glx I pass on to him, he will get a brand spanking new one. Almost doesn't seem right.
  23. Code 11spring16 will get you 11% off your order at monster also. Can't combine with email setup, but if you spend over $250 you'll save more money.
