Megabass Flapslap
Thanks guys. Cooler water is what I thought also. Guess I just need to fish them more and give them time. I get impatient and pick up a shad rap.

Megabass Flapslap
Anyone had much luck with them. I've tried but they don't produce for me. I've fished them in situation where I would normally use a wheelchair or #5 shad rap. Cooler water and warmer but no luck yet. What's your technique or situation for this bait

War Eagle Screamin Eagle Spinnerbait
I don't fish spinnerbaits much but when I do its wareagle. I've got a friend that throws spinnerbaits about 85% of the time when fishing. He was having problems with the wire breaking and contacted wareagle. They said the wire diameter was part of there bait design and sent him spinnerbaits to replace his. That's good customer service.

Bank Guys, Are You Using A Bag, Box Or Backpack?
I've found myself pond hopping more these days. I've got a three yr old that's not ready for boat fishing for over ten minutes yet so here's what I've tried. I've bought 3 backpacks ( the academy pack, the Browning pack, and the Abu slingpack) of these the sling pack gets the most use. It's just the right size for enough softplastics and terminal tackle plus a few hardbaits for pond trips. It's also easy to fish with on and doesn't impede your ability to chase down a toddler trying to catch whatever has caught his attention at that moment., but I would also recommend looking at some of the fly fishing packs. I've got an old school Williams and Joseph pack that works well also but be ready for some sticker shock fly fishing gear can get expensive quick.

Hollwbody Frogs
The sexy frogs are the ones I have to constantly squeeze water from. I use mainly.spro but I picked up a.bullywa with a bill. Is this the one you r2s guys use haven't tried it yet. I'll use any of them as long as I don't have to constantly drain them. I've had spro, booya, live target, paycheck, and scumfrogs so I'm not biased but haven't found a perfect one yet

A Lure You Were Disappointed In After Using It
I am a rapala fan. I catch fish with everything they produce that I'm interested in. Love the DT series, shadraps are my go to bait all year, the original floaters produce, but scatteraps are horrible just take up space in a box now. I've tried but there's only so much fishing time that you can realistically give a lure that doesn't preform for you. I also hate spinnerbaits , not that I haven't caught fish with them but squarebills are far more effective for me. Brushogs of any size are a zero for me. I melted all mine down and poured crawfish baits with them. Senkos get rave reviews but other than pond fishing they do not produce very well for me. I figure it's me because I've lost confidence in them. If I only had limited options and had to list what I would fish for the rest of my life the choices would be. Topwater: buzzbait ,crankbaits: all(excluding scatteraps)rapala plus strikeking squarebills, bladedbait:chatterbait, jerkbait: luckystrike, megabass, soft plastic: zoom big critter craw ,superflukes, roboworms for finesse. Now if I could stick to this idea of save alot of money but just like the rest of you I like to try new things, that's why we end up with boxes and bags of stuff that doesn't produce for us but it's fun to try.

What Happened To The Best Baits Ever
I throw chatterbaits all the time and they produce, but usually if the baits not something new it's just a side bar in an article. Spinnerbaits are a proven bass catcher but I have read multiple articles lately where the pros will say (I never throw a spinnerbait) I know it's all marketing and there's no money in pushing proven baits, it's just find of funny to me, there's a new best bait ever every year. Just for the record I never throw a spinnerbait, hate fishing alabama rigs and don't catch fish on underpins but I've got plenty of them all. The marketing works.

What Happened To The Best Baits Ever
I have recently been going through my tackle that's stored in my shop. I have found alot of lures that remind me of certain years where they were the baits to have. Take for instance the chatterbait, footballhead jig, sebile magic swimmer, and various others. I know people still fish all the things I've listed but the fanfare is gone. There was a time not long ago where you didn't read an article where they were not mentioned as top producers in various tournaments. So what's different? The alabama rig seems to be headed down this road in my area as well and spybaiting seems to have died around here before it got off the ground good. So what are you guys thoughts and what lure do you wonder about? (Where'd they go,why no publicity). Just a little curious to see if it's just me

Deeper Running 3Xd?
I'm not a bomber fan but I recently picked up a few square billed baits they have out that will track 12ft. There are 2 different models a10ft diver and a12. The square lip should help you difflect off of alot of your Snaggs just a thought. I've caught quite a few fish off of them so I bought a few more yesterday.

Tackle Order
I'm trying to curve my bait addiction but the winter months will be the real test. I've decided to clean out most of the stuff I haven't used in the last two years ,sell it of in the flea market, craigslist, and eBay. Whatever I get from it will be my tackle budget for the winter shopping binge. I spent at least $2000 last winter just by doing the rough math in my head. This doesn't include the impulse buys I don't remember, but fishing my only hobby I don't hunt so I guess it could be worse.

Recommended Tackle Bag For A Big, Muscly Guy At 245 Pounds?
I own the academy fishing backpack and the Browning fishing backpack and the Abu slingpack. The academy and bps bags do not have a solid bottom in them that separates the top section from the bottom it's Velcro. This causes your top tackle to fall to the bottom after the Velcro gets older. The blue Browning pack has a solid separator so it's better.in this aspect. The academy and bps packs carry more stuff but the Velcro gets to be a problem for me. Over the past year I've bought and tried about 6/7 packs and haven't found one that fills all my needs but the blue Browning pack is pretty close. The olive Browning pack looks better but has the same Velcro issue. If your just wanting a bank fishing pack with room for a few plastics and a Plano 3600/3700 then take a look at some of the sling packs. The Abu works good and doubles as a bag I take on my buddies boat for short trips.

Fishing In The Heat
I fish the river some. I am not a river specialist be any means but I like to go with my friends that know it better than me. The last three outings have been to tarcamp and rising star and had decent days. I've said a few times in the past two years that l was going to fish Atkins but still haven't made it but I will sooner or later. The heat has made my lake fishing miserable but I don't enjoy night fishing so I'll just grin and bear it I guess.

Fishing In The Heat
I'm from arkansas also and the temps hit 100 for a few days the lake water temps are in the 90s and the fishing is slow. The river has been better but with all the high water flow we have had its made fishing the obvious places harder. If you are fishing the river and can hold a boat in the current off the the rock jettys pitch a heavy jig as close to the undercut where the water pours over. They are there ite just getting a bait down to them that's the problem. I've also had luck extremely shallow wherever there is the slightest shade throw a shallow crankbait. The river is starting to calm down and the temp is getting better but there for a few weeks it was brutal pretty much did me in after three weeks of daylight to dark fishing days. We have quit lake fishing until the temps come down the ones we fish have been dead but falls coming.

2 Fish Stories For You Guys
Years ago I caught a shimano calais and a legends elite casting setup while crappie fishing. This was on a small lake with no one around. Man I know whoever lost that pricey rig was mad but it was toast by then.

Braided Line To Bait
The only time I fish straight braid is when I'm throwing a fluke or frog around pads

Summer Jerkbait
I've had alot of success in the dog days of summer with floating jerkbaits worked fast for for both schooling bass and in the mouth of feeder creeks on the river

What Do You Think Is The Absolute Most Effective Popper?
I like the yellow magic poppers if you can find them. I believe lakefork makes a similar one that's alot cheaper but haven't tried them yet

Bait Quality ?
I used to be guilty of buying higher end tackle (LC, MB,Sebile, jackl) and not using them for fear of losing them but finally decided what's the point. I'm going to throw it and if I loose its just fate. That being said I prefer SK squarebills to LC and catch more fish on bandits than any other crankbait I have. I believe that some of the higher end stuff is better (MB vision 110 can't be beat IMO) but confidence in whatever your fishing with is the main key to success.

Glide Baits ..
I lost the swaver on the second cast. I ordered 2 more and 2 of the savage gear glide baits also. I put them in my shop and forgot about them until I read this post thanks for the reminder. Hope the work out for you

How Many Lures?
I would venture a guess of %25 have caught fish because I use them the most. Then there's the %25 that hasn't caught a fish but has seen water. The other %50 sit in the Plano boxes and I never get around to trying them

Fly Fishing For Bass?
I've caught more pond.bass with a fly rod than anything else I've used. I use two different hopper Flies I tye myself. One is a deerhair hopper and one is a foam bodied hopper. I use a 6wght st Croix or tfo rod most of the time. I can switch to smaller panfish flies if the bass are not cooperating and still cast them pretty well. I'm not a fly fisherman by any means but I do enjoy it from time to time and anything you hook usually puts up a decent fight on a flyrod
