How do you keep track of your number?
I can't imagine a 100 bass fishing day Lol I would be in heaven. I don't think lakes around here are healthy enough. Or maybe I'm not that good lol

How do you keep track of your number?
This is my 2016 season hat, one dot for every Bass I get in my kayak. Not hook, or lose, they have to be in my kayak to count. Only Bass get a dot, other species get an honorable mention lol how do you keep track?

Curse of Waller Mill in Williamsburg, Va
Waller Mill is the only freshwater body of water on the peninsula that I haven't pulled a single fish out of. It's my curse. I'm coming off a 12 bass day, and I'm tempted to try my luck there one more time. Not only have I never caught anything there, I always lose a piece of equipment in there, including a rod combo. I'll be more tempted in going if someone wants to show me the ropes at that place tomorrow morning...if not, might go to Harwoods Mill...Lol Thanks!

New bass angler needing advise
Look up wacky rigging senkos...that's changed up my fishing life lol buddy and I just pulled 22 bass on a wacky rigged junebug senko yesterday. We fish heavily fished waters so those numbers are hard to come by!

Why Do You Fish?
- I've never heard it put like that but that has no become one of my favorite sayings. Im the same way man if I'm fishing its just me, nature, and those little green guys. I dont have any worries, the only worries i get is when I catch a bush or a tree haha - Im no betting man but your lottery ticket comparison is spot on! Maybe we now know why fishing gets so addicting, always trying to win that bigger prize. Sometimes when I'm on the water and there is something really bugging me, it also tells me I need to deal with it. And its usually on the water that i figure out the solution to that problem. Being able to completely clear your mind of all distractions and focus on one thing makes solving issues so much easier.

Why Do You Fish?
When I started this thread I didnt expect to read some of the stories I have read. Guess another reason I fish is the fishing community in general, I have yet to meet another fisherman I do not like. I've never run into a fisherman that isn't friendly and isn't all about helping a newbie out. If I'm ever out on the water and I see kids fishing, I stop and give them bags of baits just to keep their passion going. Thanks for sharing some of your experiences with us, its awesome hearing where people come from and what has shaped them into the person they are today. Tight lines everyone!! Looking forward to reading many more stories about what got us hooked on this amazing past time.

Detecting Bites on weightless soft plastics...
- Do you set the hook more than one time when you aren't sure if you got it the first time. I ask because the other day, i cast saw it fall felt the tick set the hook, fought it for a bit, the water was clear so I could see it the whole time, i kept it from jumping and then all of a sudden I saw the hook and worm come out of the mouth...haha first time thats happened. Had to do the "hand over hand" method last week when a fish broke my rod during the fight lol it was a blast. - have you seen any big difference from wacky rigging the worm and nose hooking it? I've never tried nose hooking a worm before. I use them for cat fishing never for bass tho, would I set the hook like a normal hook or just pull tight like i would on a catfish? - Watching the line fall faster or twitch has become my favorite too! Do you work a wacky rigged senko or just texas rigged worms? - I lose fish even with the barb not pinched down so I guess I can go ahead and pinch mine down. I agree with you, nothing ruins a catch for me like gut hooking a fish.

Gordon Creek (branches from Chickahominy River)

Detecting Bites on weightless soft plastics...
Gotcha, yea I usually have my finger on the line and thats where I feel the bump if I dont see it. Guess its just something I need to get used to, guess its not only me haha I noticed something on one of the fish i caught yesterday, I felt the first tick but I didnt set the hook i waited to feel more or to see the line move...is that what you should do? or just swing as soon as you feel the first bump? Guess I'm afraid that he only has the worm in his lips and if i set the hook ill just rip the hook out.

Gordon Creek (branches from Chickahominy River)
Went there this morning, even though rain was forecasted for the day, I dont mind getting a little wet, the bass are wet so maybe if I'm wet they feel that connection. haha anyways, I put my kayak in at Chickahominy Riverfront park. Started off with a nice little sprinkle and it was enjoyable. Gotta say I wasn't sure bass would be so low in the Chickahominy seeing how the James river is just around the bend, but people said there were so I went on my happy way casting at everything I saw. I got there a little before low tide so I was targeting timber and the grass lines with both a square bill and a chatter bait, now and then I'd throw a weightless senko at certain targets. My first fish came from a pier and off a crank bait, just a little fella at 1.5 lbs. Continued moving up the creek with a bit more pep in my paddle knowing there were fishing in here. Not shortly after the heavenly skies opened and I was caught in some of the hardest rain I've ever seen hahaha and then of course the tide changed and I was going against the tide...again. As I made my way back to the dock it was probably the hardest paddle I've ever done. Guess I should have probably looked at the radar before heading out there, looking forward to trying Gordon Creek again, minus hurricane.

Detecting Bites on weightless soft plastics...
So I've come across a problem...When I'm fishing weightless senkos, I cast out, leave line on the water and watch as my line slowly goes under. Once it stops, I assume its reached the bottom, and slowly reel in just in case something picked it up and I didnt feel it. If i see the line drop faster than normal i set the hook and I set the hook right where it needs to be. I dont feel 80% of the bites, when I start reeling in I realize my line is way to the right or left and that tells me I have a fish, so I set the hook and bring her in. Only issue is that by that time some of them have swallowed the hook. I do feel a slight bump when bigger fish hit the bait, but those 1-2lbers I dont ever really feel. I've tried using both a spinning and a bait caster to see if i could detect bites better but i have the same issue with both. I have 15lb braid with 10lb fluorocarbon leader on both set ups, only reason I dont go lighter is because there is a lot of grass and other structure where I fish. What should I try? (besides being better at fishing haha) Thanks guys!

-Thank you for your service, glad you were able to get help and find it in the most unexpected place. No matter whats going on in life I know that on the water none of that matters. Why Do You Fish?
There are few things that get me up at 5am faster than knowing I have a day of fishing ahead of me. I consider myself a new guy, I've only been passionately bass fishing for about 3 years now, I didnt grow up in an area where there were lakes and rivers to fish. It wasn't until I joined the military and moved around that I found this new passion of mine. Being out on the water with no one around, watching the steam lift from the water in the early morning, calms me and relaxes me more than anything else in the world. Fishing is my release after a long week, fishing takes me away from all the negativity in this world. Feeling the pull at the end of my line not knowing what is there, or how big it is, is something that gets my heart pumping every time. The challenge of tricking a predator into biting my presentation is an addiction, and with every fish I learn something new. I look forward to many many more years on the water. What drives you to spend hours on the water, fishing, learning, living?

Location, Location, Location
Hey Tom, So I looked up the Cosmic clock and that has to be some of the best information I have read. I'm pretty new to bass fishing as well, I've only been doing it for about 2 years now. I come here and read as much and try to soak up as much knowledge from you guys. So thanks for that info, really makes me understand that little green guy a whole lot better!

Ribbit Frog Dilemma...
@primetime thanks man! I'm gonna try dropping my rod when they bite that way they have more time. I guess I just think they won't hold it for a long time so I set the hook to fast. And no im using the soft plastic ribbit frogs, I've never really had any luck with hollow body frogs lol @PennBass that's a great idea I never even thought of that. Thanks!

Lowrance connection issue
@bassh8er I believe it is i push it in as far as it goes, and the little red washer thats on the female end is flush with the male end. Its the piece of the female side that spins that doesn't want to go in all the way. My unit still works just fine so I'm assuming all the prongs are connecting right.
