  1. Thanks. I want to throw finesse jigs using my old Pixy, but I'd rather have a slower tip. Appreciate the feedback.
  2. Found this in a search. How do you like it? I'm looking for a ML casting rod ND the Cashion and Phenix are two I'm interested in. Thanks!
  3. I lost access to the pond down the road because a guy had a campfire on a boat ramp and left trash everywhere. The landowner (who was well within his rights) put up a gate. As for discarded line, I melt it into a cube using my heat gun then throw it away.
  4. Man I begged my dad to get me some of these when I was a kid. Those commercials were very tempting!
  5. Just scored one from Dicks for 70 dollars. Great to hear.
  6. I got a pile of them in a bulk crank purchase, good to know they are worth throwing. I've never tied one on. I throw Bandits all the time, mostly 100 and 200s. NH smallmouth go crazy for the white ones especially. It's a bait up here that guys have heard of but nobody throws.
  7. I toss a couple of backup reels in my backpack, one usually has 12lb, the other 17. I have more reels than I'll ever need, so what good are they doing me at home? Between me and my fishing partner, there's always a chance someone will get a bad backlash.
  8. It's a money pit but I love it. If you need any advice ask away. I'm far from the only guy on here who pours baits, but I can help you avoid some common newbie pitfalls.
  9. Same here, my father and I started pouring in the mid 90s. Now I have my retired mother-who loves to sew- watching @smalljaw67 videos because she thinks tying jigs "looks like fun."
  10. I'm in my unheated shed (in New Hampshire) right now because it's warm today. It's 31 degrees.
  11. I can't answer your question because I haven't bought a jig in years, but $8 for a hand made local jig? I believe you, but who in the world would pay that? Best of luck finding what you're after.
  12. Great point, Glenn. I have a Trigon Mojo M that I use for 6A and 7As. I didn't like it with a newer Lews reel, but once I put a heavier older reel on it it balanced like a dream.
  13. Weightless super flukes and Johnson Silver Minnow are two I don'teave home without. Lots of 6' deep weed choked ponds around here with big bass that don't get fished hard.
  14. I have a Cashion BFS rod in my cart but dragged my feet due to the 30 dollar shipping. I have an old Pixy that I really want to use for small jigs and 3" swimbaits that I pour. In the meantime I'm getting ready for a big sell off of reels and (hopefully) rods locally that can justify yet another purchase, especially after buying an engagement ring. Merry Christmas all!
  15. Gotta love responding to a thread old enough to drive a car...which I'm currently doing. I throw Augertails and Jelly worms, and found a mold that is similar to the 7 5 Culprit that I use too. I'm 47, and a lot of my baits come from the 80s and 90s unless I'm making them myself.
  16. If you run across a Citica 201E it's the same reel with fewer bearings. I have one and love it-and I'm a Daiwa guy.
  17. Are you searching "201" or "200". 201 is a lefty.
  18. There's a local place called Dean's Beans that has a low acid dark roast. I use a percolator M-F and French press on weekends unless I'm going fishing Just heavy cream for me, would love it black but even the low acid coffee is a little rough on my empty stomach.
  19. I snapped a couple of early Quantam spinning rods-both less than a foot from the reel- deep water jigging for lakers. Just this last year I had a pistol grip Lews speed stick from the 70s do the same thing when I loaded up to cast it on Winni. I had a Baby 1 minus on it and was throwing 8lb test. It snapped on my back cast. Piece of junk only lasted 40 years!
  20. Dad every time. Lost mine this summer and I'd give just about anything for one more memory.
  21. Yeah, I tend to make a mistake only once, which is why I've never remarried
  22. Pretty much this. If I get 6 years I consider it a major victory.
  23. I made this mistake once. It didn't even bleed, I had a 1/16" deep cut in my finger. Not fun.
  24. I grabbed a pile of 4As when someone online had them for 3 bucks a piece. On 17 lb copoly it runs right around 3 feet deep, and losing them to toothy creatures doesn't hurt so bad. I also love my Bandit 100s, as many of you do.
  25. I tried that and it did not work for me. As soon as my dad asked me a question (probably about college football, we talked Buckeyes every time we ever went out) I sped up to my normal cadence and spun out my crankbait.
