Hard to only choose one type of lure, since there are so many lures that are highly effective.Guess I would have to choose a couple bucktail jigs of various sizes for freshwater /saltwater fishing.

Try fishing at night.

Sometimes the most subtle of bites come from big bass,set the hook before it's too late.If not you will have another story of the big one that got away,instead of having a story of the big one that didn't get away.

Live Target is one of my favorite lure companies. Have caught my fair share of big bass on some of their products.

It depends where I am fishing,but overall I prefer catching +8 pound bass over small/regular sized bass.I still have a blast on days I catch +50 or more bass.Beats catching barely anything!

Great subject.I have been very fortunate in bass fishing and have caught a few bass 10 pounds or bigger(weighed on a scale).What has helped me the most is putting in my time on the water using what I know to the best of my ability.Anyone has a much bigger chance of catching a 10 pounder if he/she puts in their time wisely in locations where there are 10 pound bass.Its all about being in the right place,at the right time,using the right tactics.With that said,I know many bass fishermen down here who have fished much longer than me and haven't caught a single bass over 8,let alone a 10,so 10 pounders aren't as easy to catch down here as some may think.

One of my most memorable fishing experiences was when I caught my first fish.It was a spotted tilapia that I caught on Memorial Day and I caught it in Amelia Earhart Park.I still fish that park often and it's a great place to teach someone how to fish.

It's definitely a grunt,and appears to be a tomate grunt. It has the stripe running across its face and you can barely see the black dot on its tail.

Try a Rebel Pop R,it's one of the easiest and best top waters to use.Fish it in relatively open water or close to aquatic vegetation.Also get a small sized hollow body frog to fish over the aquatic vegetation,it's another easy lure to use(wait for the frog to disappear under the water when a bass hits before setting the hook).

Try fishing at night.I recently caught a bass that was less than a ounce away from being ten pounds and I caught this bass at nighttime using a swimbait.Other good times to fish during the summer are during sunrise,sunset,and cloudy/rainy days.

Sounds good!I recommend coming down this time of year again for the permit and for the tarpon a good time to come is during the mullet run.

Are you still down there?This time of year is one of the best times to catch a permit.They are definitely a fish worth adding to any fisherman's bucketlist.

I have not fallen off a boat when bass fishing,but I jump off the boat into saltwater often when it's hot.

It is true that jack crevalle don't taste very good, but most people don't fish for jacks for food, they fish them for the fight they give,just like people who fish for big largemouth bass and let them go since they don't taste good. A 10 pound jack crevalle fights much harder than a 15 pound snook and few inshore fish can complete pound for pound with these jacks. If jack crevalle become too easy to catch you can try catching a permit( one of my favorite inshore fish to catch). Permit are much stronger pound for pound than most inshore fish and will test your skills greatly if you can successfully catch one from land.

For overall inshore fishing I use a medium heavy action rod.So far it has worked great for snook, tarpon, jacks, small/medium sharks and other inshore fish.

Congratulations on catching a nice one.The bass fishing is great this time of year if you are willing to put in the time needed.

I recently caught a +9 pound,15 ounce bass and she swam away strong when I released her.Caught her at nighttime in the month of June and the water temperature was most likely over 80 degrees. Haven't had a single +8 pound bass die on me when fishing at nighttime,so it's definitely a good time to fish during the summer.

Don't beat yourself up,it happens to the best of us. Go back there and show that bass who's boss.

A big part of being successful at frog fishing is knowing when to set the hook and how hard you set it.Set the hook when you see the frog completely disappear underwater and do a firm hookset. Do not do a exaggerated hookset, it is not needed.

Pound for pound the weakest freshwater fish that I catch are yellow bullheads,its like reeling in a small log that tugs every once in a while.Pound for pound the strongest native freshwater fish I catch are sunshine bass,they pull drag like small saltwater fish. Most of our exotic freshwater fish are much stronger pound for pound that the native species.
