Fenwick Warranty
Did you purchase a warranty on the rod from G.M. ? Some credit cards also contain a type of insurance that covers products lost, stolen or damaged within a certain period of time.

Building a ned rig rod-my take
Most definitely no offense taken, I asked for your thoughts. My understanding of the term "no feel" is that it primarily applies to the method in which the Ned Rig is fished, in that it is not a true contact bait. I use to feel that I was probably missing fish, but after having a couple of 100 fish plus days I found it hard to believe I was missing many. Glad you checked out the link. Sorry to take things off track a bit, and I do like your new rod.

Building a ned rig rod-my take
I don't disagree with you, I just happen to follow Ned Kahde and was aware of his philosophy regarding the Ned Rig. I goes against much of what most of us have learned but still is very effective. I was just interested in the OP(and your)thoughts regarding sensitivity and the Ned Rig in particular. When you see or hear of Ned catching fish at an amazing rate, it often makes me question my purchases of NRX and Legend Elite spinning rods.

Hawtech bearings use nylon cages many other use SS. Probably the biggest difference.- Is it wrong to think top water has small window of opportunity?
Yes, yes you're wrong.- Building a ned rig rod-my take
Could be.... this is why I asked the question regarding rod sensitivity. " The most important feature of the six retrieves revolves around the concept that we call no-feel. That means we cannot feel what the jig-and-soft-plastic combo is doing or where it is during the retrieve. This is the antithesis of the way power anglers experience their retrieves. Often newcomers to Midwest finesse tactics find the no-feel retrieve to be so disconcerting that they quickly give up and resort to using what we call power finesse tactics. In order to feel their baits, power finesse anglers work with 1/8-, 3/16-, and 1/4 –ounce jigs." Yep, those spinning reels can certainly be tricky.- Muddy Water Finness Presentation?

Sounds like a crankbait rod to me, I would put a nice low I.P.T. reel on it something around 20 inches.- 27 replies

Thanks for sharing, have you read anything that Ned Kahde has to say about the Midwest Finesse Technique and the 6 basic retrieves?- Black/blue jigs.

Curious as to why you feel sensitivity is a key element to fishing the Ned Rig successfully?- Dedicated crankbait setup
You should try using more brakes and less spool tension. It will give you better performance from your reel while still offering excellent backlash protection. When you crank the spool tension down you can damage the tension disks and create a situation where the reel will not perform as well as it could.- 130 Whopper Plopper

I don't know how much you want to share but I would be interested in seeing a picture of your jigs or maybe just the mold number that you use. Your willingness to share information is appreciated.- Difficulties keeping fish hooked on Ned Rigs
I use the same setup, LTB and a Pflueger use a custom poured head, going to have to check out the hooks you're using. Are they compatible with the 570's- pflueger President reel
some casting reel have between 8 -10, that is plenty of drag- Difficulties keeping fish hooked on Ned Rigs
make sure you keep your hooks sharp, they are exposed and bump and bang all sorts of stuff, making them become dull. I don't really set the hook just more of a quick reel and lean into them.- Crank bait deflection
It's the quick change of direction or action of the bait, triggers the response from the bass. Kind of like if you run from a dog. - Boca or HawgTech
