  5. I just got both reels on "black Friday" and so far I do like them, that being said, I just order a new Lew's tonight just to try other reels. I am sure you will like the citica.
  6. Let me ask this about line for frog fishing. Why 50lb and not 25lb or 30lbs??? Wouldn't the 25 or 30 be better for the fact that it would be smaller and not as easy to see???
  7. They are 18 yrs old, both Falcon rods and Shimano reels.
  8. Went fishing this past weekend and took my old rods and reels with me. Quickly found out how outdated they were. That being said, looking for a new MH rod and reel. I'll use the old ones for backups if needed. Just another reason to get new stuff.....
  9. Thanks for the input guys and WRB that's a lot of jigs. I'll be sure to check out the Jig post at the top, just trying to bring in more of those Bass when the worms don't work.....
  10. Ok, I am one to stay with the same rod and reel setups from the same company, just the way I am. I used Falcon rods for years but saw St.Croix on sale and bought 2 of them and so far I like them. But, I have read many post on here talking about using different rod brands for different types of fishing. I have always done fishing on golf courses and wasn't to worried about what brand rod I used. But now that I plan to be a boat owner one day soon, I am trying to get a few rods lined up. So now I'm wanting to get rods that are in my price range which is between $100 to $150ish. That all being said, I will be looking for a frog-jig-flipping rod that will be in the H 7'4" to 7'6" range. Am I asking for to much in a rod? and for those that use different brands rods, what company should I be looking at??? And if I need to get 2 rods please don't twist my arm to hard......Any thoughts would be great....Thanks
  11. What is the difference in Jig's??? There are casting jigs, football jigs and I guess regular jigs. When do you and how do you fish the different Jigs??? I am sure this is ask a lot, so any advice or opinions would be great. Thanks
  12. LOL my mistake crank baits
  13. I have 2 7ft MH Falcon rods that I plan to use for cracking and spinnerbait, my question is what test line should I use??? I plan on using PowerPro line. Thanks for your input, its been a long time since I had 4 rods and reels for fishing.
  14. Thanks for all the reply's, another question for you guys. Why the higher pounds test? Why not just stay at 10 or 12 pound test?? I have baitcasters by the way that say 10 to 17 pound test.
  15. Was just wondering if anyone has any thoughts about PowerPro fishing line.
  16. Being that I have never own a boat before and that I am looking to get my first one soon I have a question. Is the price on the boat firm or can one negotiate the price like one can do with buying a car?
  17. I was wondering if there are fishing expos in North Florida? I can't find them anywhere to go too.
  18. All I know is that I will most likely be buying my first bass boat around the first of the year give or take a few weeks or months but I will be getting one. Those of you that have bass boats are lucky to have one. I really don't care which brand I get because its more like do you like walmart or kmart, ford or chevy...Ranger or Nitro.....just my .02 cents worth
  19. They are baitcast reels. That's a good idea, thanks
  20. Thanks Bluebasser86 for the insight
  21. I have a silly question about Fluorocarbon. I have never used the stuff and was wondering can you just put it on the reel or do you have to put mono on first and then add fluorocarbon??? I have heard something about having to add mono on first, I am waiting for my second new reel and rod so I have a few days before I need to do anything.
  22. Fishnkamp, I live in North Florida and would be fishing mainly lakes, my big concern is being that I am a big guy I'm looking more at fiberglass but not ruling out aluminum boats. Also looking in the 17 to 18 ft range. But I am not rushing this and most likly going to do something at the start of the year. Thanks for the Info
  23. Just order my St. Croix from you guys and saved a butt load, even beat out Amazon and TWH, Thanks a lot for the heads up.
  24. I have two 18 yr old Falcon rods which I love and have no problem with, they are both 7 foot long MH. I have decided to go with St. Croix Mojo Bass Series Casting Rod for my new rods and have gotten a 7'0" M action and with my great desire to own a boat soon I decided that I need a flipping rod. I was wondering what length to get, should it be a 7'4" or 7'9" or 7'11"? Thanks for your advice and have a great Thankgiving.
  25. I know this is a late post but Lake Trafford sucks, don't even waste your time. I have caught many of bass in golf courses lakes and big ones too, many 5lb bass in golf course lakes, The biggest I one I caught was at the Marriotts course going to Marco Island. Snook fishing is a blast too if you do that too. By the way I lived in Naples 49 years before moving up to Live Oak 3 years ago, Anyway have a good one
