  1. I've gone by it a few times going to Eagle Lake, It does look like a great place to fish but not for the money it cost to fish it.
  2. Went to BPS today for some upgrades for my boat. Bought a Hummingbird Helix7 DI GPS to replace my Lowrance X52 and a MotorGuide X3 Digital Bow-Mount Trolling Motor to replace the old, warn out, beat up Motorguide I have on it now along with a BPS heavy-duty boat guide-ons for the trailer. Going to have a buddy help me put all this on this weekend and will have some before and after photos. Also going to order some new seats to replace the old ones too. Anyway that was my day
  3. I believe that you are right J_Bricker about going with a bigger motor. I am looking at staying with the Motorguide motor, Not sure about which fish finder yet. I will be looking at youtube for how to do it all that is for sure.
  4. Thanks J._Bricker for making since of what I was trying to say...lol...Its has 45lbs of thrust on a 12v batteries. I am not saying that Motor Guild is the problem its just old and warned out.
  5. Today was the first day that I was able to take my boat out for a full day of fishing which was great except for 2 things. The trolling motor (Motor Guild )has seen its better days along with my fish finder. The trolling motor works but its not so good, and for some reason I can not get the fish finder to find fish, or speed of the boat or the depth of the water. I could be wrong but....I think that might be a problem, I plan on getting new a lot sooner than later. My boat is a 03 Triton TR185 with a 150 Mercury and as 2 little knobs on the bow to run the trolling motor and one of those don't work, I am looking for a new trolling motor with a foot controller and fish finder which is a old Lowrance X52. (I hope that this is making since) My budget is around the $400ish for the fish finder and $500ish for the trolling motor, Any thought on this would be great, and one more thing, I'm not so good at this kind of things to mount myself. This all being said, I had a great time on my boat. Have a great Easter weekend and remember that Jesus loves us all. Jeff PS going to try and post pics of the boat this weekend after it has a bath
  6. My 2003 Trition TR 185 came with a Lowrance X52 fish finder. Does anyone know anything about these??? I haven't seen these on Lowrance web page to see on how they work. And yes I am new to being a boat owner....
  7. Question, What is the big differences between a 12 volt battery and a 24 volt battery for a trolling motor??? After my first day on my boat I came to the conclusion that the first thing I want to do is upgrade the trolling motor. It seem to be a little slow with no motor speed control for it.
  8. I got my boat and went to the lake but had to wait until the rain stopped but once it did I took it out and was very pleased with my first time out, even caught a few bass. I have lots to learn but I'll be ok, Thanks for all the input
  9. Its an 03 Triton TR 185 with an 150 Mercury.
  10. Used, and No unfortunately, but did test the transom, the deck and the hull, also check the the boat over for the things that I have read to check out. I am sure I missed something.
  11. Picking up my first boat tomorrow, was just wondering if anyone had any advice for me before I go on the water to fish for the first time as a boat owner???
  12. Went to a Boat show and bought a 2003 Triton TR 185, more on that later. My question is this, Which do you all prefer more Sea-foam or Star-tron fuel treatment and how often to you use it?
  13. TW should have a pre spawn sale, spawn sale and a post spawn sale.....or not
  14. BPS Extreme Casting Rod Model: EXR76HT-T Its 7'6 heavy on sale for $90.00, I was wondering if anyone has used this rod before? Its either that or a Okuma Scott Martin TCS Casting Rod 7'6" Heavy for $140.00 on TW. The price for the BPS Extreme is real enticing. Thanks for your thoughts and advice
  15. Anyone going to the Miller Boat Center boat expo in Ocala FL in March? I plan on going on Sunday and driving home with a boat hopefully.
  16. I had 2 rod and reels, now I have 5. I am slowly building up my what I have. I buy my rods in the $100.00 to $130.00 range which are good rods and my reels in the same price range. I am building up for when I get my first boat which will be soon. Like the guys have stated, start slow and pretty soon you will be in good shape. After I get my boat I plan to have 8 to 10 or more. Good luck and welcome to Bassresource. You will learn a lot like I have in short period of time.
  17. How much backing of mono do you use? I try to back about half the reel with backing before I start my braid.
  18. I have two of them M 7'0 and so far I like the feel of them. Light and balance for sure. I'm a tall, big guy so I only like to buy 7'0 or taller. But that is just me. But they are nice rods
  19. Question about a Flippin/Pitchin Rods. I have seen that these rods come in Med Hvy and Heavy and from 7'6 to 7'11. I understand the length part of it but why are they Med Hvy and Heavy? Does it make that much of a difference between the two? I been leaning towards a 7'6 rod just in case I want to use it for other than Flippin or Pitchin. Thanks for your input Justbass11
  20. I haven't lost any on the first cast but have lost my fare share that is for sure but it still sucks when that happens.
  21. Anyone going to go to the Bass Elite in March at St. John's River??? I going to try and go for the first day, have to work that weekend.
  22. I talk to a buddy of mine when I was last down there a few weeks ago and he told me that they clean up Lake Trafford and that it has gotten better to fish. Good luck
  23. The one thing I like about the Nitro is the fact they have a bigger deck and being a big guy I like the room I would have, plus it fits my budget better looking at used boats.
  24. I just want to thank you guys for you incite and advise, Again this is my first boat and am a little nervous and just want to make sure I look for anything that would make me not want to buy this boat or any other boat, again I thank you
