Only one
If you can have only one set up for a 7 foot medium action pole for the winter time what would it be? I’ll be using my new rod for the first time during the winter. I already have a jig rod, but it’s my first time fishing in the winter so I’m just curious. Thank you for your input.

Price difference…
I have a simple question here, does the price make the difference in buying lures? Case in point, would you buy a bass pro shop lure, which is 5 dollars or the same lure made by strike king that is say 6 or 7 dollars ? Let’s use the example of crankbaits. Does it make that big of a difference, anyway that’s my question. Thanks for your ya’lls replies. Happy New Year’s.

Fishing gifts for….
This year for Christmas My Wife got me a bunch of fishing stuff (that I picked out.)To start with I got about 10 jigs to go with the other jigs I had. I had to get something to put them in so I also got a Plano Edge 3700 jigs tackle storage. To put those jigs in. I also got a new hook sharpener, some trailers for my jigs, but the big daddy of them all was a Lews Custom Lite 7 foot medium action fishing pole. I matched that with a KVD fishing reel that I already had and I put BPS Excel 10 pound Fluorocarbon fishing line on it, which was also a gift. And to top it off a new fishing shirt. Yep I was a good boy this year…lol

Haven’t fished…
Hey everyone, I haven’t fished but maybe 3 times this past year. I was playing lumberjack after losing 20 trees after the hurricane went through the Carolina’s. Still have some cleaning up to do but I see the light at the end of the tunnel. So now I have some time to start fishing again. So that being said Happy New Year’s and hope this is the best fishing year for everyone.

Not sure it’s a bait monkey
I got my order of Vbeijll today, not sure it belongs with the bait 🐒 or not but it does take the moisture out of the tackle boxes. I’m sure I only need one per box’s

Good bass boat for around 4-5k?
@Sp33dSnake is right. I have a used 175 txw and love it. It has a 75 hp four stroke. And it would be perfect for you I believe, it has plenty of storage for me and my wife. I had it up to 41 mph so it has get up and go to it. In my opinion, it would be a great first boat for someone who’s never bought a boat before. Take that $5000 put it down on the new boat or a newer boat. If you go to Bass pro shop they won’t really give you a great deal. Anyway, that’s my two bits good luck purchasing your your boat.

That time of year

Latest Tackle Purchase Thread (Bait Monkey Victim Support Group)
So I decided to down side my jig rod after a previous post on jig rods. My Wife on Valentine’s Day, decided to get me a new fishing pole to replace the one jig rod that was broken on a previous fishing outing. It’s a Lews custom lite rod that is 7’6” medium heavy with fast action. It came in today so I’m excited about using it which if all goes according to plan I’ll be fishing this coming Tuesday 😁 Ps not sure if the photos will come out 😬

I wished I have done it sooner
For the first time in my fishing life it took me all of about 5 minutes to remove the line on my 8 reels that I now have. I decided to buy a “Berkley line remover” today and “I wish I have done it sooner. 😀 If you don’t have one I recommend you get one or something similar. By the way I’m not sure this belongs in the “Bait Monkey” post or not.

Plano tackle boxes
So my wife and I went to BPS to buy a new rod that they didn’t have which is no big deal, I’ll just order online. But I also wanted to checkout the Plano edge series tackle boxes but the price was more then I wanted to spend. I saw the Plano guide water proof boxes which I ended up buying which was much cheaper. Question is, is the edge series worth the money? I wanted to find something that would keep my hooks from rusting. Anyway any input is appreciated

Side imaging for the bow fishfinder
I know what I am going to get, but it comes with or without side imaging. I think I know the answer to this, but I still have to ask. Do I need side imaging for my bow fishfinder? I do not a fishfinders with all the bells and whistles so to speak. Anyway, all input is appreciated thank you.

Your Height vs. Rod Length... does it matter?
I personally like 7 footers or longer. I’m 6”2’ but I do not think it matters how tall you are. Its whatever your preferences is.

Budget friendly bow depth finder recommendations
@MN Fisher@12poundbass, I just started and saw the Garmin STRIKER which I think is all I need. But I also think I need some good advice from experience boaters that would know more than me.

Budget friendly bow depth finder recommendations
I would say around $500ish give or take. I’m not looking for anything like live scope. I have a Garmin 9 inch on the console and and an older bow unit that is a 4 inch Lawrance. @MN Fisher just the basics really

Convince me on a rod set up.
I have posted before on what rod to get for a jig rod. I know I want it to be 7’6”I think, but do I want a medium heavy or heavy? That is the question. It could also be used for glide baits. I will say that being 6’2”and just over 300lbs I’ve always have used 7’ for all my fishing needs. Anyway thanks for the input.

Tire rot
So it seems the cause of my flat tires the other week on my trailer was from tire rot. Hard to believe trailer tires are so expensive. So if one tire has rot the other tire will be going flat soon. It is what it is

Perfect jig rod length???
I really appreciate all the responses to my question. I have always thought that a 7’6” heavy rod is what I needed for using a jig. I now have something to think about now that is for sure.

Perfect jig rod length???
Now that my jig rod is broken and out of service. I was wondering what is the perfect length for a jig rod? I know that everyone has their own preference. Mine was a 7’6” heavy, all opinions are welcome.
