Does anyone make the mushroom heads with a weedguard other than ZMan ?
  2. What Sam said, I think it matter more in ponds than is large lakes
  3. My last purchase of hooks were Gamakatsu, pretty happy with them.
  4. Looks like a St Croix is in my future, come on Black Friday !!!!!!
  5. Sounds like newer Lowe boats has some troubles. I have a 1997 Lowe Roughtneck 17" and has zero problems with boat or trailer. Maybe the previous owner cleared up all the problems. I guess sometimes newer is not better.
  6. Doesn't the Avid X have micro guides. I use a 7# leader with 10# braid, will a knot go through the micro guides easy. The regular Avid has regular guides I believe.
  7. Just got the Garmin 551dv and love it !!!! GPS store has them on sale now for $250 free shipping.
  8. If I had to choose between your rigs, I would go with the Lew's rod and 5500 with 12# or 14 # test mono. My rig is Lew's 6'6" med. David Fritts Perfect Crankin Rod with a Lew's BB1 with 5.1-1 gear ratio loaded with Sunline 12# test Natural. This rig is good for shallow to med, crankbaits and also lipless cranks.
  9. 50# braid in stain to muddy, 20# Sunline Fluorocarbon in clear.
  10. Mono, I want a little stretch.
  11. I am waiting for Black Friday to buy a St Croix Avid spinning rod. I will using it for the ned rig, split shotting, and drop shotting. I can only buy one since these are $200 (hopefully 20% on BF). Would a med. or med.lt action be the best. The only other rod i would consider would be the Bass Pro Carbonlite but I really don't know if I could stand a white rod, of course, these cost half of what the St Croix cost. What do you think ?
  12. In order, topwater popper, jerk bait, spinnerbait, crankbait. Water temp yesterday was 65-68.
  13. Got four new Lew's reels and a David Fritts crankin rod but none of their other rods. Glad you asked this question because I am thinking about their Speed Stick Lite HM85 drop shot rod. Maybe someone out there will give us a good review on them.
  14. Had my new Garmin 3 days, just realized yesterday than I could take my Garmin off in about 2 seconds. When all else fails, read the instruction manuel. I guess I will be taking it off but my old in dash of course, I will have to leave on.
  15. I use a Falcon LowRider 6'6" Med. I also use it for topwater. Works great for both.
  16. Same as Evan, I use a small worm binder, I use a magic marker and label the pages such as willow leaf, single, double, Colorado, single, double, etc. Works really well and you can find what you want quickly.
  17. I use several small worm binders for the baits I use the most and a large worm binders for the ones I might think I might need one day and colors of the ones I use the most. All of it stays in the boat. I even use a worm binder for my spinnerbaits.
  18. Put me in the catagory of no trailer hook. I might change the size or the retreive if I miss a couple but the places I throw it, it would be more trouble than it's worth.
  19. Smithwick Rattlin Rogue, silver wth black back, hard to beat.
  20. I really like Falcon rods. You can pick up the Original for $89-$99 in a bunch of different actions and models.
  21. Just got me a new Garmin 351C and just wondering if I should take it off when trailering or leave it on, My old fishfinders have probably never been taken off and they are probably 15 years old and still working. So do you take your electronics off or just leave them on.
  22. Just got a new Plueger Supeme XT, got to get a new rod now !!! Come on Black Friday Sale !!!!
  23. I use to fish about a 15 acre lake. The owner only let a few fish but didn't want you to keep any fish. It got to where you could only catch smaller fish, I told the owner that he need to start keeping a bunch of the smaller fish but he didn't buy it. I finally quit fishing it.Some people just will not listen.
