why am I much less successful with full sized jigs?
Depth-water clarity-water temperature dictates rate of fall. Get the optimum rate of fall and things will happen. Now dragging a football jig is a bit different.

Youth Baseball Is Back.
My grandson had his Spring season opener today. It was such a great game. The point however was not the score but the sportsmanship. These kids are amazing. The leagues coaches, whom I know well, are amazing. The family support is amazing. The sponsorship support is incredible! These kids are 11/12 and at a point in their lives that life lessons are so important to their futures. What I saw today was a reinforcement that investing in our kids is so incredibly critical. I have coached for many years. My philosophy was my first goal was to make you a great team mate and then help you be the best player you can be. That value was alive and well today at John Knoll Park.

Twist Lock flipping hooks
They are another option but not my first choice. There are some Flippin baits such as the BBB Yo Mamma or YUM Woolly Hawg, that by their design, do better with twist lock. So does the Yamatanuki. My first choice will be an offset however. I just think having the hook point in a parallel plane with the hook eye is more effective for consistent hook penetration.

Casting reel question
Makes tough to twittle. Limits your option what to sit on too. Fifty percent chance of a gladiator dying. Tragedy for sure. How do you roll a booger? Sorry.

What’s that sticking in my back?
I’m 71 and only paid 15 bucks for the first time but the plan is to take all senior license discounts away. It’s the dismal tide. Signs and wonders.

What’s that sticking in my back?
Fishing is about to get more expensive. In my state there are HB’s to increase licenses, require licenses for children and increase license costs for seniors. Not happy.

Whose type of fishing might be hardest for you?
Yours. Unless you wear an 11 wide.

Shaky head versus Finesse jig
A finesse jig is just a small jig. It requires movement to create action. A shakey head worm is still a worm but the head style helps the worm stay upright longer so the worm may have some movement even when the head is stationary and that subtle movement can be enough to trigger a response. In fairness, a living rubber skirted jig has some movement even when stopped or paused. I drag finesse jigs but not a shakey head. I never order either at a drive thru.

Topwater Selection
Frogs: Anywhere anytime Buzzbait: stained rippled water Wakebait: very shallow and over grasses Walking bait: rippled water or clear deep water where the bait will call the fish up. Popper: calm to lightly rippled water with good visibility. Prop bait: any place the hooks won’t get fouled. I enjoy Spook or Pencil walking baits the most. I don’t fish floating minnows. Too slow. I’ll just fish a popper.

Question for Chatterbound owners
The Chatterbound is a composite blank. It has a delayed response. If you want your bait to move rapidly after it breaks free, this is not your rod. If you are looking for the bait release at a slower pace after it breaks free, this is the rod to do that. You also benefit from that action when fish try to dislodge the bait once hooked. The Chatterbound is very sensitive for a composite.

Show your biggest bag.
My biggest 5 came at Clear Lake. No pictures. 8.15, 7.13, 7.11, 6.11 and 6.3 what ever that comes too. All largemouth. I had a 25 plus bag of smallmouth from Glenn’s favorite body of water. All on a Deep Little N and caught in less than 45 minutes. Best hour of bass fishing in my life.

Anyone use only one brand of soft plastics?
- This may cause a disturbance in the force
Just to clarify, the SLX series of reels is really good, just not comparable to Steez.- Rod I was sold is labeled a "walleye rod"
I picked up an Edge “hover” rod which is in their steelhead/salmon line but it is absolutely fantastic as a Senko, Neko, shaky head, finesse jig rod. Many plants are edible.- Large Lakes vs Small Lakes
