Bandit baits
I remember my first Bandit 100. You ordered them by mail and got five for 12.99. I got Tennessee Shad. The chartreuse blue back is still catching them. Tom is right.

Were jigs always this expensive?
Back in the 70’s you could buy jigs in 12 pack bags or on staple cards for 69 cents each. Bronze hooks that were tiny and nylon rope type material for brush guards. Stanley jigs had the greatest impact with a plastic Y guard, multi colored heads and dual color skirts. They ran 99 cents each on the early eighties. The fact that you can get an Owner or Gamakatsu hook, designed for jigs, a designed head, 3-D eyes, multi colored skirt in dual materials and wire tied for about five bucks is amazing. I absolutely love Sieberts jigs. Buy one and you’ll see why. As for going cheap, I fish rocky snaggy, eat jigs all up and down the Columbia. I fish Hula Grubs on football heads I buy from a local guy by the 100 count. But that’s grub fishing.

1.25oz bladed jig rod
I would encourage you to look att the NFC Edge Delta NEO 755-1. It has a very unique action that is slower in the tip but has surprisingly great power. If you throw 6 inch Mag Drafts, this model is really good. I even throw 1 1/4 ounce deep crankbaits on it and it does that very well. I’ll have to post a photo later.

The only person who needs to know the full content of my tackle is my insurance agent.

What Fishing Gimmick Did You Fall For?
Kneel and Reel. Back in the early eighties Pail Elias won the Classic by getting his Normans Deep Little N an extra two feet by plunging his rod in the water. I bought a Lews Kneel & Reel rod. That was a bust.

Christmas Present Arrived
Arguably the best baitcaster ever produced. My buddy is a steelhead guide and begged me to sell him mine ten years ago. He still fishes them.

Christmas Present Arrived
I have two. You’ll love it. Now my cataract surgeries are done I bought myself regular polarized sunglasses. One pair for driving and a pair for fishing. 👍👍

Orochi XX going away?
I watched a YouTube video and a prominent Megabass dealer commented the Orochi XX is gone and the X10 is filling that spot. No further elaboration.

Anyone with experience with a Kaden 745C?
I have the one piece and based on that blank action the ferrol location shouldn’t impact the flex much if at all. It should fill your needs needs nicely.

Battle Of The House Brands?
I would rather be patient and hold on for the majority of sales and purchase the proven tackle. The sales have become pretty predictable and timing those discounts can save you some money.

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT
Bass Resource is like a membership to the Jelly of the month club. It’s the gift that keeps on giving the whole year long Clark.

How moderate do you like your jig rod?
I’m in Tom’s camp. The 5/6 powers in a fast action. I do have a dedicated football jig rod for dragging that is a bit lighter.

How much better can reels get?
With everything out there at this time, I’d be happy to find a Daiwa with the right length handle and true comfortable knobs.

Black, no sugar and no cream!
I’m going to have to try some chicory blend. Never tasted it.

Orochi XX going away?
It’s hard to say. I don’t think the X10 was that well received. It is overpriced. I could see a melding of the two lines with a small increase in retail. I’m not holding my breath.

You just knew.
Over the last twenty five years plus I found looking at baits or rigging options and saying to myself, I know exactly where that will flat catch them. The first time I laid my hands on a MB Dark Sleeper it was like an epiphany and I knew exactly when and where it would shine. My assumption was spot on and the what, where and when came together resulting a great day. Same goes for the wobble head and the free rig. They just felt right and didn’t fail me. I have the same feeling about the line through Swimbait Head from 6th Sense. It will have to wait but it speaks to me. Have any of you had a similar reaction to a bait or rig that grabbed your attention and wallet.

Black, no sugar and no cream!
This is hard core. My buddy Dave went rafting with us on the Deschutes River. Well after dark he wanted cup of coffee badly. He filled a pop can with river water and two scoops of coffee and set the can in coals of the fire. After several minutes he took the can and a cup and placed the end of his shirt over the cup and used it as a filter. Saved dumped the brew filtering it with the shirt and enjoyed his coffee. We laughed our butts off. That’s hard core.

A Bee Sting - Just Not How It Normally Goes
My grandfather told me a true story. In 1911 he ran a mule team pulling a load of railroad ties. He was out in the middle no where in Manitoba and it was dark. Pitch black. He wanted a drink and found a guy who had some home made hooch and bought two pint bottles. He found his way to his bedding at the stable and took several swigs and felt something in his mouth. He deduced it was particles of cork from the cork in the bottle top. In the morning he discovered it was dead flies.

Those who don't use a plastic trailer with a spinnerbait...
The two baits are very different and only share the use of a skirt in common. It’s my belief that bass are initially attracted to a spinnnerbait by flash of the rotating blade or blades and the water displacement signature from the blades. It’s a secondary reaction when a bass focuses on the profile of the head/skirt. A trailer can add to the profile. A Chatterbait or bladed Jig is a jig that has the action of a crankbait. It wags side to side. The blade is like the lip on a squarebill. The skirt gives bulk and some action but it’s minimal. The blade produces minimal flash. The side to side wag is perfect for a trailer that can capitalize on that side to side movement and add profile. That’s why I love a Zako or a Spunk Shad.
