  1. One of the most incredible anglers I have ever known, never fished a tournament. Why bass? I can spend all the money I want to catch a limit or hope I loose count.
  2. Hey Mike, I have a slogan for you: Tie perfection on to your line with Sieberts.
  3. I think it depends on the location or region. My experience is an east wind is usually accompanied by a high pressure front and a dramatic drop in temperatures. I make adjustments for that by fishing tighter to cover, deeper water or current. I slow down a bit and make multiple presentations to promising locations. I also bring a thermos of coffee.
  4. There are companies that have achieved actions that are more conducive to effective crankbait fishing and some, Dobyns 764 CB really shine. But there are also some glass rods such as the Alpha Anglers Rebound that provide that delayed or slower response without being heavy or lacking sensitivity. You can have your cake and eat it too.
  5. Just note: the full grip is a First Strike MBR694-1C. The split grip is an EFX Pro MBR 696-1C Hybrid. Both were in stock and I was able to jump the gun on an upcoming promo not yet posted. Gary and Susie Loomis own NFC Edge and have so from the outset. Trust me, there is zero affiliation with Shimano or G Loomis. Finally, on many models they are a bit over three months out. When the upcoming promotion hits that wait might not be unbearable. Just saying.
  6. Based on what sport or sports? If you factor football, basketball, baseball , softball, gymnastics, swimming, rugby, lacrosse, hockey cross country and track and field, Texas and Oregon are at least top five.
  7. How in the heck did these get here and who’s this guy, Gary Loomis??
  8. Come to think of it, I’m almost always one combo short.
  9. In sport, those who choose to compete owe a debt of gratitude to those who built and impacted that sport. Clark is one of those anglers who I have admired for decades.
  10. Some reels only offer a 100 mm handle in 8.1 to 1 and the handle length is a priority for me. It’s a plus to avoid switching to after market handles.
  11. Mine have the handle in the right side.
  12. Light penetration and barometric pressure changes.
  13. I hope to get a new rod rack to hold the combos I got for all the birthdays I had this year.
  14. Boys!!Stop this. Wait till your dad gets home.
  15. Pegboard is a fisherman’s best friend until you realize you spent 260 bucks on pegs.
  16. Deep diving was easy in 1977. Fishing is a process. Your experience as you fish and the situations you put in front of you will determine or should determine how deep you go into lure categories. You can buy a hundred different lures in anticipation that one of hundreds of situations might occur. Just ask yourself, what’s the chance of that? Like most sports it’s healthy to focus on fundamentals and then refine your skills. Matt Allen is refining big time.
  17. When you connect with branches 12 feet up.
  18. I can fish just about every technique with a 7-6 flippin stick but what would be the fun of that?
  19. If you haven’t tried Siebert Outdoors stuff, you’re missing out. Mike’s products are top notch.
  20. The SK Spence Scout. Poes had a version too. Bring it back. Rebel Wee R. I loved those little dudes. The models with cross hatch finishes were my favorites: The YUM Zellamander. I have less than 20 left. It is my smallmouth Carolina rig killer.
  21. The guy had the nerve to have me escort him to the boat.
