  1. My godson moved to Post Falls Idaho and asked me to drive over and spend a week on Coeur de Laine and maybe Dworshack. I missed out on peak spring fishing this year. My wife had to take care of her mother, out of state, for almost seven months. It would be nice to capitalize on that period. Finally, I have acquired Swimbaits that need to be torn up.
  2. It’s all about line capacity. The left two are standard SLX Next from left is a Scorpian 70 with is a JDM Curado. The far right is a Tatula 100. I don’t do Shimanos over a 150 size. A Curado 150 MGL is great but so is the JDM Zillion. A Zillion at two hundred bucks is the deal. Too bad the Scorpian 150 MGL’s at $135.00 are a thing of the past.
  3. Cataract surgery yesterday on the left eye. The right will be done on Tuesday. See you later!
  4. Tie perfection on your line.👍
  5. I’m like CATT, my birthday is on December 29. I might get a NOCO jump charger.
  6. That period has a four pin cast control and a slightly heavier spool if memory serves me right. There are some additional upgrades on the latest derivation . With that said, they are good reels and would be nice work horses for you. Flush the bearings and re-oil.
  7. Bill Lewis ATV, Norman’s Fat Boy, 6th Sense Munch or Crush 50 and Lil John.
  8. I am right there with A-Jay with two additional considerations. First, you can acquire a moderate action by design or material. You get to choose. Glass rebounds slower than composites and all graphite rebounds the quickest. Here’s three examples of very goods vibrating jig rods: Dobyns Kaden 735 CB. All graphite and moderate. NFC Edge EFX Pro Hybrid MBR 706-1C. Composite, moderate, slower rebound. Alpha Angler Rebound 7’ Glass. Made from S2 glass, moderate with power and the slowest rebound of the three. Why moderate? A-Jay nailed it but consider this. A vibrating jig is a jig. But this jig has two points that hinge or swivel. This gives bass the ability to rock the jig in all kinds of angles unlike a traditional jig. That movement is an open door for slack and relieving tension on the hook. This is why treble hook baits benefit from moderate slower actions to stay hooked up. The goal, constant tension without ripping the hook out or bending the hook out. One last point. I don’t buy in to the idea slow rods allow the bass to suck in a moving bait deeper. If it’s something that gives you confidence, that’s great. It’s winter I guess.😁
  9. Right Mike. Deer season just opened.
  10. Placed my order and I got the last white/char. Mike might want to expand the run? The old school meets 2024. I love it.
  11. I go back aways. During the era mentioned We saw the advent of low profile reels, Lews Speed Spools, Shimano Bantams, the development of carbon fiber rods by Lamiglas, Fenwick and Gary Loomis. Fishing line was on its way to much better strength, smaller diameter and some specialty lines. The development of silicone skirts changed jigs and spinnerbaits for decades to come. Hook development went crazy and EWG designs came to the forefront. Mann’s, Zoom and Mister Twister filled my tackle box. Strike King grew like wild fire. Bass Pro Shop catalogs went from 22 pages to over 150. BASSMASTER was growing by leaps and bounds and we saw tournaments for the first time on TV with Bob Cobb. Ray Scott was the face of professional fishing. We admired the Hemphill gang, Roland, Rick, Dave and Dee. Flippin went national, and TV shows opened a whole new world to regions not noted for bass fishing. Some rookie from Georgia won BASSMASTER event with a goofy spinnerbait that had a size 6 willow leaf blade. Crankbait fishing went crazy with Elias and kneel and reel. Plastic lures pushed balsa to send place. Rods grew longer and real straight handles even had triggers. Fuji guides. Pitchin with real rods that telescope. Boats, trolling motors with over 50lbs. thrust! Paper graphed depth finders. The list goes on and on. What a great time. “ Five alive!! Let’s see what they weigh.”
  12. All I know is my favorite reel colors are black, silver, grey and maroon.
  13. My long time buddy and I were having coffee and, being in our 70’s, discussed the topic of the greatest era in bass fishing. This discussion included techniques, tackle advances, boats, technology and the personalities in the tournament scene. We agreed on 1977 to 1987. That ten year era truly shaped our bass fishing futures and our love for bass fishing. Feel free to share.
  14. I received an email from 6th Sense on their current promotion. Up to 60 percent off. Crazy.
  15. I saw a product release video with two brands that have vibrating jigs with a blade directly connected to the eye. Hmmmmm.
