  1. I take it you are looking at the fish finders on gander mountain? I had the same dilemma and went with the lowrance. It was cheaper and my kayak is lowrance ready. I thought side imaging would be nice, but the more I looked into it the 698 screen size isn't the greatest for side imaging. I've only taken it out twice and haven't figured out all the settings yet but so far I like it. I was going fishing again today, maybe I'll take a look at the manual this time
  2. I base my hook size off of the size bait I'm using. I use 3/0 and 5/0 for worm hooks and 2,1 or 1/0 for dropshot
  3. It has a bunch of nitrates in it and is a better option than throwing it away though lighting it on fire isn't bad either
  4. You can use the decaper die. If it's just one or two cases I'll use a small punch and a hammer. Even a sideways primer doesn't take much force to remove. If you are worried about setting off the primer put a drop of gun oil on the primer and wait a bit. The oil will make the primer inert. Also if you spill a bunch of powder and don't want to use contaminated powder you can throw it on your lawn for fertilizer
  5. The case isn't ruined, just knock the primer out and try again. I have a loadmaster and screwed up a bunch of primers before I gave up and started hand priming the cases california doesnt really have an off season, but the fishing has been slow lately so I'm shooting instead. Luckily this week and next week have a predicted high in the mid 60s and a low in the upper 40s and low 50s. Pre spawn fishing should be starting!
  6. My local dicks didn't have red eye shads in sale but all savage gear baits were buy one get one 50% off. I picked up some hollow body frogs which look like booyah pad crasher knock offs and a mouse that looks just like a koppers mouse but with only a skirt and no tail. For only $4 each after tax, it felt like a good deal.
  7. check out page 11 of the screen shot thread. There are a few pictures of budget fish finder on there. Look for things not connected to the bottom and try to catch them. You will have confidence in what you are seeing when you start catching fish using it
  8. I like to eat bannanas while fishing. I feel that I have better luck when I do
  9. Dropping phones in the water or getting them wet
  10. I received an email today asking me to pick what hooks I want and to confirm my shipping address. I chose 4/0 wide gap worm hooks. I'll let you guys know if the are the next big thing or a gimmick.
  11. I normally have a pistol in a holster in the front pocket of my life jacket.
  12. I have a cz 75, a shadow target and a cz American in 22lr/22mag. The shadow 2 is the latest and greatest if competition pistols are you thing. If I can find a cheap used one the cz 527 is 7.62x39 is on my list of guns to buy. I have also heard that cz makes nice shotguns
  13. I like an extra long leader so that I can re tie a few times, break off a snag or two and still have a long enough leader by the end of the day
  14. I find that it catches worse. I was using 30lb braid to 12lb yozuri hybrid with a double unit and had to shorten my leader so that the knot wasn't going onto the reel. It casts fine but when reeling it in it would have trouble going through the narrow bottom part of the t wing. When I use a leader I cut it to around 14' but keep it under a rod length with the t wing
  15. I have the bending branches angler ace and don't regret buying it. My paddle before was aluminum and half a pound heavier so the angler ace is a huge step up. I never got tired from paddeling before but a lighter paddle just feels better. I paid around $180 for it
  16. I'm not a big Star Wars fan, but I saw the movie so I wouldn't feel left out of conversations. I thought the movie was just alright. I felt like it followed a predictable and familiar storyline, nothing new or that exciting
  17. I signed up to get a free sample back when I cast was going on and haven't received them yet . I think it's a gimmick that won't gain popularity.
  18. Lowrance elite 5 hdi, it's $270 but has $100 in rebates. It has gps, down imaging and a larger screen than the garmin http://m.gandermountain.com/modperl/product/details.cgi?pdesc=Lowrance-Elite-5-HDI-Fishfinder/Chartplotter-With-Suncover&i=922116
  19. I guess I have two fish finders to decide between now
  20. this is the price after the rebate but it looks like the rebate is a $50 visa gift card and the price before the rebate is $270. Is the rebate $100 and I'm just reading it wrong? I wasn't really looking for a new fish finder, but for $170 I wouldn't mind upgrading
  21. I like the old mobile version more
  22. I thought glen forgot to pay his power bill causing his backyard server to go down
  23. The blue of the Aetos doesn't show up that great indoors but this it what it looks like with a tatula type r. The picture showing the underside of the reel is closer to how the blue looks outside. I never noticed a black and red reel looking out of place
  24. Welcome, what part of the valley are you from
