  1. Or bream? Once a friend and me caught a bream or had one bite every time we cast for a couple hours. It was a 4 by 4 spot between cattails. We caught every type of bream native to Florida in that spot. We even caught a few mullet there…We never counted them , but we had a 5 gallon bucket so full that the last few were falling off the top. This was at Crescent lake Fl.,where we had a church men’s retreat ( and fish fry ) !
  2. I caught 35 bass one day, and around half of them were caught in the same 150 foot area. It was a big eel grass patch on the windward side of the lake on a very windy day…and I caught every one of them on a UV speed worm…
  3. Had it happen twice with friends. Both times it was their trailers… It is an ordeal …
  4. That describes me to a T. I did get rid of cable TV recently and started streaming after my family gave me a flat screen for Christmas… Im going to have to figure out how to get SEC football on it before the fall though…
  5. Good to have you Matt…
  6. I saw that back then , but don’t remember that part… Probably a good thing I don’t…
  7. I’ve never heard of it, but if it involves a bat , I’m not in . My dad and me grew tomatoes and got great results with all the fish guts we put around them…
  8. 5 days a week I usually have 1 cup of medium black. Every now and then I’ll have 2. On friday night/saturday morning when I’m on security patrol at church, I’ll drink 2, and a cup of hot chocolate in between. Sunday morning at church, 2-3 cups . Always medium black. If there’s no medium , I’ll take whatever I can get…
  9. Having played baseball for 12 years, I thought our umps were really good. I can’t remember a serious dispute. The only game I ever got thrown out of was on a first base call playing softball later…And he threw me out for saying his call”wasn’t worth a crap”. ?
  10. On my home lake, it’s mostly eel grass. It grows to about 5 feet deep and no deeper.( My lake is only 7 feet deep max, so we have eel grass all over. ) There are also some docks and laydowns that produce at times… On most of the other places I fish, it’s maiden cane , pads, docks, and cypress trees …I love hydrilla too but it seems like it’s either completely taken over lakes, or it’s been killed off …
  11. I never had one as a child , but as a young man some of my country friends called me “ meat “. They said I reminded them of someone in a movie named that. Never knew which one. One of them still calls me that. Many of them had animal nicknames. “ Possum “ , Armadillo “, and his brother, “ Fat Rat “ . ? Another group of friends called me “Reb”. I have a few friends that call me “hoss” too. One of my sons calls me “chub”… At my old job I was “ Grizzly Adams”. ? I call my oldest grandson “ Big T” ( His name is Tyler ) …
  12. A friend said there were a lot of redbreast in a ditch. There were. I think it drained into ( and out of ) a creek. I caught a bass once in a tiny pond where a contractor parked his school busses. I could have easily thrown a rock left handed across it… I once caught 50+ bream out of a sewer treatment pond… I recaught a bass out of my swimming pool recently…? I keep having a recurring dream of catching bass out of the grass at the house I grew up in. The water will be a foot or less deep , sometimes inches in the dream. They are all dinks though ?
  13. Same thing happened to me… I was part of the hiring process at my old company. You wouldn’t believe the level of absurdity we went through. One month we had fifty something applicants and only 6 passed the drug, criminal , and MVR tests.! I don’t remember hiring any of the 6 either but we may have hired one of them.. And this was for pest control, not rocket science!
  14. For 4 inch senkos/dingers I use a 7/0 fenwick medium ./ F For 5 inch I use a 6.6 ugly stik medium. For 6 inch I use a 7.0 lightning rod Medium/heavy./F Works for me…
  15. Purdy fish!! Congrats !
  16. Pest control services. I wont say his name, but he’s been a Jaguars coach twice…
  17. Gave an estimate for a former NFL coach at his beach house…
  18. Got out for a couple hours this evening. First hour - nothing on various baits. Then I got a small one on the UV speed worm. I got over into the cove I like to fish right before dark, and switched to a 10 inch red shad culprit worm. Got 3 good fish in 25 minutes…
  19. I’ll take half of each, which is basically where I’m at. At 62 it doesn’t seem to matter much…??‍♂️
  20. Summer is generally my least favorite. You can catch fish at night and first thing in the morning. Other than that, it’s tough… I caught my 3rd biggest fish ever in July though… The only exception to this is in winter after a hard cold front passes . I rarely even try anymore when that happens…
  21. I usually use it on my 12 foot J boat, or sometimes the 10 foot bass hunter. It seems to be the same on either one… I wish. Havent had time to go there in a WHILE…
  22. I finally found the battery at the 4th wal mart. I tried it out on saturday, and It did fine. Before the thread closes though, I have another question. Ive noticed that on my 40 lb thrust minn kota the gears don’t do much until I get to 5th. In other words 1-4 there isn’t much difference. When going from 4 to 5 though, there is a big jump. The last 2 40s I had were like that. Have y’all experienced that as well?
  23. Got out today with high hopes for a bigger fish. It had rained this morning, and the lake was slick calm, partly cloudy conditions. Full moon this Tuesday… First cast I got the pictured fish! Then caught 3 dinks the rest of the afternoon… all on the june bug ol monster …Lost several good fish to laydowns, but that’s par for the course…
  24. I had sicilian neighbors growing up. The Barbera’s . Combined with my mom’s North Carolina Scottish cooking, it’s no wonder I grew to a good size ! Mrs Agata had the best meatballs I’ve ever had… When I got married, I discovered that my wife loved olive garden. I liked it, but part of it was having fun trying to pronounce the words on the menu. I started getting the “ southern italian “ plate, because I figured if it was southern it had to be good. It was. The veal parm was great. Then they quit having it. And that’s when I pretty much quit going there… Ive ate at a few other local Italian restaurants. Most were good, but overwhelmingly expensive. One of the local ones “ Gubbios”, used to be great when it was owned by Italians. The last time I went the chicken parm was like chewing on a piece of rubber. I heard chinese people had bought it and were running it…?
