  1. Junger gave a lot of good info... Depending on how far you like to travel, the Eastern shore is perfect for inflatable fishing - lots of mill ponds and smaller lakes. I can give you some recommendations if you are up for traveling that far. Closer to you, I've mainly fished the WSSC reservoirs and you could paddle those as long as the wind isn't bad, especially in the coves (keeping in mind safety first - life jacket, tether to your board and your important equipment) - it can get deep fast (I've lost a very nice rigged fishing pole about 45 ft down LOL). Lake Elkhorn and Kittamaquandi are doable in the spring, but once summer gets going, the algae/grasses are unbearable to get through, even with their attempts at cleaning it out. I haven't fished Elkhorn as much recently, but they basically will hang around under any overhanging trees and any water drainage into the lake.
  2. yeah-been far too busy this year with work. Hoping to get a lot more outings next year. Our kayak club (RiverRunnerz) has our final event this weekend on the Pocomoke. Hopefully will end the year on a high note (although tidal fishing has never been my strong suit)
  3. Wow, many thanks for all of the details. I'm looking on setting up my first bfs setup now, but I do fish for snook and juvi tarpon several times a year on vacation and visits to family in Florida. Tight lines!
  4. Snook on a bfs setup? I wouldn't have thought to try that. What line do you use?
  5. I fished there this year as part of Kayak tournament and a couple other times besides that. Landed my first snakehead there, so that was cool. I need some more experience in general and on that lake to figure them out. I found some hanging around laydowns but nothing of real size. Had some competitors crush them in deeper water though.
  6. Hollow body frog. I went back out again the next weekend and some protecting their babies as well as some solo ones in the shallow areas. Look for shallow areas with deep access, thats where i saw these.
  7. I tried Little Seneca Lake last week and caught my first Snakehead. Wasnt even targeting them - lol. Matter of fact, I didnt catch one bass the whole day. First snakehead, multiple little perch and little bluegills. Any tips would be appreciated for those that know it. I'll take any size bass at this point - haha. Re: Trialdelphia/Rocky Gorge - Triadelphia was good to me in late May, but I have struggled the last 4 weeks there and Rocky Gorge. I hear they are deep and I dont fish deep very well, but will keep trying.
  8. Baltimore reservoirs were closed Friday. Heard Piney Run reservoir closed as well. Hoping they dont close Rocky Gorge or Triadelphia. I've been out to the little lakes in Columbia and caught some dinks but not exactly the size im looking for... lol.
  9. Nice! Glad to hear it gets hammered! Forgot about the tail, was about 20 or 25...
  10. Great thread... I bought an Elements Davinci 190 for around 90 bucks from Japan. Love the action on it but havent thrown it that much for fear of losing it... LOL
  11. Not to mention I am not used to fishing in 30-60 ft of water - lol. I think you are right. Temp was warmer the further i headed up that direction. I only made it to the 29 bridge yesterday but temps where in the low 60s at the end of the pockets.
  12. Fishing by kayak... Left from Scotts Cove once and Suplee the other times.
  13. Still trying to figure out Rocky Gorge, but funny enough the only action i got was some bass taking swipes at a heddon torpedo.
  14. At this point ill take anything from RG - LOL
  15. After getting skunked at Rocky Gorge 3 times in a row, i decided to hit Lake Elkhorn for an hour or so before work today to see if I could get a confidence fish - lol. Got this one and one more... Now back to Rocky Gorge hopefully this weekend.
  16. Enduramax has a built in PWM already. And yes it does help a lot with battery life.
  17. 2nd this! I used my F12 the first time with a trolling motor this weekend. Minn Kota 45. Was very nice to get across the lake in some windy conditions. I have tiller handle extension that worked pretty well. You can turn your seat to help make it more comfortable, but my seat was pretty stiff and not ready to mess around with the seat while out on the water until it warms up a bit. Not sure if I could reach the handle while standing but im sure i could fabricate some extra length if needed.
  18. It's junk then (unless they updated them). I had 2 different Spiderwire backpacks. Liked the concept and they started out well, they just werent durable. Lots of parts started ripping on both and the zipper on one started jamming.
  19. I need to throw more bluegill baits... especially soft baits. I have the hudd gills, just didnt like the weeds they kept gathering.
  20. Thats the beauty of fishing, it might be your 3rd cast or your 3,000,000th cast. Hudd 68, Swaver 200, Spro Rat 50, Jackall Ganterel (like someone else said), and maybe (if you really get into it) a DEPS 250. Message me for a good swimbait resource if interested. I am not that serious a swimbaiter compared to hard core swimbait guys, but the Swaver, spro rats, and jackall ganterels i have done great on... Also, dont forget big Keitechs.
  21. After multiple 'fishing' back packs failing from abuse, I went to a sling military style pack. I can hold 3 planos, plastics, and all the extra tools i need. Helps me keep the weight down so that it doesnt wear on me while i fish and also keep me focused on certain lures so that I dont have too many with me. I think mine was around 40, they have nicer ones that serious military style, hiking, or everydaycarry people like but mine has worked fine. I also bought a smaller version for quick or 'focused' trips.
  22. I just saw Revo has a 10:1 that i may pickup for topwater.
  23. Put it back together again and it started out kind of sticking at the end of the worm gear (not directly related to worm gear though i believe). Then i just kept reeling it and something clicked and now it works great. Not sure what it could have been (misaligned something?). Polished the gears and replaced the drag. Cant wait to try it out again.
  24. Couldnt remove the clutch so that is the same. I re-lubed the AR...one set of directions said I could oil. Is that not correct?
  25. Put it back together per the schematic and the spool isnt turning with the handle. Time to take it all apart again...
