  1. Build a pond a stock it with trout.
  2. Of course they heal, they get bite marks from other fish all the time.
  3. To add to that post, what are some good brands that make frogs that sink?
  4. I'm trying to research a real frogs behaviour when it's in the water so I can try and copy it as much as possible when I fish a frog. Does anyone know any good sites with frog info or anything that would help me?
  5. Non size wise, any good fighter is a good fish to me, size wise I'd say 3+ is a really nice fish.
  6. One time I only had time to take 3 casts before the storm hit and I pulled out 2 fish.
  7. Well I live in Canada. Ottawa, Ontario to be exact if any of you know where that is. It's the Ottawa river that is having this problem. Were still waiting for the test results but I'll post them when I hear what the problem was. It is really weird to because it's only catfish that have bin washing up on shore so it must be something near the bottom of the river.
  8. Well looks like I'm going to have to stick to the ponds for awhile. The river I fish has some problems. All these fish are washing up on shore dead, even some dead seagals and racoons. Were not aloud to swim in or use the water. It sucks!
  9. If your doing anything that the fish feels threatened by then it's going to be spooked. Although I find it is very hard to spook a smallie.
  10. There's nothing like it! It's relaxing, fun, and a luxury. It's good that your reading so much before you head out, smart move.
  11. I'd buy a small crank, a spinner, pop-r, and some soft plastics to suite every situation.
  12. Well if you got some I'd throw some livebait out there, if not then I'd go with a small crank or a trusty soft plastic.
  13. I'm usually rotating between cranks, top-waters, and all sorts of soft plastics all the time to find what is working best then I stick with it. If I were you I would just relax and not put so much preasure on yourself, remeber when you first start out fishing and you catch a lot of fish, that's because your just out to have fun and have no expectations, try to bring that attitude back and you should do better!
  14. I haven't bin having much like with pop-r's either right now, I haven't really tried anything else topwater except torpedo's and that's only produced pike which i don't like.
  15. Whatever your using first of all make it a slow retrieve because the bigboys are slow. They like injured prey because they don't have to work as much. If your fishing shallow then throw a frog out there and pull it once then let it sit for a while, if your fishing deep then I'd try a big worm with a slow retrieve.
  16. You have to hit it on the head with a hard object to knock it out, and make sure you hit it hard the first time or your just abusing it.
  17. Three words, bobbers, worms, structures.
  18. Ok makes sense now thanks.
  19. Firstly you have to remember that there is only 1 hook so if your used to the hard plastics then it is frustrating to be losing more fish then you normally would. Second set the hook when you feel the weight of the fish and set it hard, to avoid losing them I try to land them as fast as I can. Last weekend I had a 4 pound smallie on a thin dock and the hook came out, I had to wrestle him around to keep him on the dock.
  20. I've had a few topics that have bin moved or there not here when I come back to read them can anyone tell me why or where the moved ones are.
  21. My PB was caught last weekend at my cottage around 8:30am. It was a 4 pounder smallie caught on a YUM powerbait worm. My PB LM is 3.15 pounds.
  22. Just make sure you have constant tension on the line, i set the hook when i feel the weight of the fish not when i feel a bite, if i feel a bite i slow the reel down.
  23. I think on the fall could only mean while it's falling to the bottom, if it meant on the bottom then it would b called on the bottom. For me the biggest bass i've caught have all bin on the fall or just before bringing my lure out of the watter, thats because those times are the slowest point of my retrievel and the big bass are slow.
