RL Burnside? Burnside is more famous but I was just asking about Kimbrough because he is an older bluesman that the Black Keys used as a source of influence and payed homage to his songs after his death. Burnside and Kimbrough are Mississippi hill country musicians. Their stuff is gritty and rough but has a lot of feeling. I've told you that my friend works for Jon Cleary right?

Matt and J Francho, it's good to see there are a few other Black Keys fans here. I have all of their albums, although I didn't like the most recent one as much as others. I also have Dan Auerbach's solo album. It's good but nothing awesome. The Black keys are pretty raw but I love their sound. Muddy, have you ever heard of Junior Kimbrough?

I agree 100%. The "Me and Mr. Johnson" album that was his covers of RJ's songs is just flat out plain.

It's mostly when I throw buzzbaits and I try to engage the spool quickly to start retrieving once it hits the water. I'm not even sure if that's what is happening. I kind of thought it might be the fact that sometimes my thumb bar doesn't come all the way back up to the normal position when I first engage the spool sometimes. I really have no idea about the inner workings of reels. You repair and clean reels right, JFrancho?

That would have been awesome. Brownie has a fantastic voice and Sonny is probably my favorite harmonica player. I also have a CD of Lightnin Hopkins with Sonny and Brownie which is an awesome CD as well. I am a big Son House fan as well.

How bad is it if you engage the spool before it fully stops spinning? Sometimes I do it on accident with my Fuego just from the way I hold the reel. The reel has been feeling like it is laboring when retrieving heavy vibration lures and fish.

No problem, glad I could be useful. I really hate how much variety there is in tip speeds between brands. On the one hand it allows people to get a rod that they really like but on the other hand it makes buying rods without handling them very difficult.

I have a CD of Johnny Winter performing with Muddy Waters that is pretty sweet. My friend works at festivals in New Orleans and he just recorded a Johnny Winter set. He got me a copy but I haven't received it yet.

That's what I use for flipping/pitching and frogs. They have fairly soft tips so they can launch frogs very well. They also have lots of backbone. I have been using it in some very dense stuff on the Potomac and it has more than enough strength to horse fish out of thick stuff. FWIW, I usually have really intense hooksets as well.

www.pandora.com to start off with. There are some pretty distinct genres of blues so it's tough to tell which kind to recommend without knowing what you heard and liked. For country blues, start with Son House, Lightnin Hopkins, and Mississippi Fred McDowell. For electric blues start with Muddy Waters, Otis Rush, BB King, Howlin Wolf, John Lee Hooker, and Sonny Boy Williamson (2) Those are my two favorite subgenres.

I use the Deep Woods stuff. It has some deet in it. Apparently Deet is pretty much the only thing that keeps ticks away and those are the only things I really worry about. I've heard Deet will eat through fly line.
