Revo STX or Curado E7?
I know, right? If only the Premier came in a 7.x:1 ratio!

yes, but the no stretch characteristic of braid means that if/when you do get a nasty birds nest the line is much more likely to snap than mono, copoly, or fluoro.

Revo STX or Curado E7?
so the Curado is winning in the poll but only one person has replied in favor of it? Come on guys, tell me why.

regardless of casting ability, a backlash is bound to happen once in a while. From what I understand, that is one of the reasons that MOST swimbait guys don't use braid.

shadalicious rigging?
The issue is that the hooks aren't large enough, correct? I use 8/0 keel weighted hooks on any paddletails that are 5-6" Next time we fish, remind me to give you a Reaction Strike hook or two. I don't really use them anymore and I think they would fit well.

Revo STX or Curado E7?
Respectfully, I don't want to hear any of that sort of stuff. I want only opinions on these reels and their features. This thread will go to hell in a hand basket if we start with branding issues. besides, everyone so far has recommended a Revo so don't tell me Shimanos are favored...

Revo STX or Curado E7?
yes, I realize this could start a war but I'm genuinely curious as to whether, being a fan of Shimano's braking system, I could get used to the Revo's. Also, like I said this reel will be used mainly for flipping and pitching relatively short distances but also for casting frogs as far as I can. I would have made it between the Curado and the Premier since they can be had for the same price but the Premier doesn't come in a high speed version. I've heard that changing the Revos can be a hassle so I'm not sure about them because I'd have to readjust the brakes every time I switch between jigs and frogs. I wouldn't be concerned except I've grown accustomed to not having to change anything on my Citica.

seriously, just try it. Preferably something cardiovascular, not lifting weights

Revo STX or Curado E7?
I need a new reel for my flipping/pitching/frogging rod. I was set on the Curado but now that the STX can be had for $120 I've been tempted by the Abu side. I enjoy the braking system on my Citica immensely. Now I can't decide. Discuss....

exercise, don't nap, wash your sheets, flip your mattress

Bad experience on lake today
you should patent that system as a new design for handcuffs.

20lb MONO at least. You want stretch with swimbaits. Also you don't want one of those nasty braided line birds nests to snap off your $80 lure...

Curado E - Review of Sorts
I was under the impression that the "Shimano Product Support Board" was specifically for product support A board specifically for products that supposedly don't break? I heard they were going to do boards for other products but with a possible bandwidth overload they could have crashed a server.

Revos on Sale at Tackle Warehouse
so lame....i would have bought a few if i could get the sunglasses... I don't know about the Slyde model but the P-17s felt very flimsy.

Revos on Sale at Tackle Warehouse
i think the receipt has to say you paid more than $159 to get the sunglasses. At least that's how the Sunglasses Rebate reads.

Revos on Sale at Tackle Warehouse
I don't think it is a typo. On the main page it says "Abu Garcia Revo STX and Premiers 30% OFF!" I think they are all on sale but the STX and Premier models are at the steepest discounts. I think you're probably right, it's probably an inventory thing.

I just thought I would let you guys know that Revos are on sale at TW for like 30% off +$20 mail in rebate. You can get a Revo Premier for $159, an STX for $119, and the SX for $124 after the discount and the rebate...

It's so you don't get knocked on your noggin when flying down the lake. I got my new Costa Del Mar sunglasses splattered with bugs yesterday. I also got hit with a bug in the lip and that actually stung a little bit.

Go for at least the Avid, otherwise you're just going to want to upgrade later.
