  1. I've definitely managed to do that a few times.
  2. wow. what a rewarding view and experience for such a long hike. I am still learning to cast with my fly rod but I would love to be able to make a California mountain trout trip sometime before I die.
  3. Glenn, who makes the Sledgehammer rod? Was there an MSRP? How'd it feel?
  4. Congrats!
  5. never fished it because its private.
  6. Dang, I wish I could have been there! In fact, I was down that way this weekend. I was visiting with my friend who lives in Ashland. We ended up taking a trip down to Toano and stopped by Fishing Pro Tech and Hooker Bait and Tackle. I have been trying to go to those stores for forever. I have to admit, they have some pretty sweet stuff, Rowland.
  7. nice fish T-rig! and that is some sweet shoreline you got there
  8. What is it? : It is slang for "the big one," like the monster fish. Do I really want to catch it? : Oh YES! What type of bait should I use? : I think that whatever your using now is fine. Fishing lures would be my guess. Just how BIG is this thing? : I guess it would be the biggest fish that you have caught to date. How do you cook it? : I am thinking that you use heat. You don't. You release it. Does it taste like chicken? : Everything taste like chicken now days. ;D I have so many questions. : I may no be able to answer them all. Fixed.
  9. I use these: http://www.***.com/descpageTERMRSTRIKE-RSPPH.html
  10. That's really great, man. That's quite an accomplishment that you were able to pull your GPA up above 3.0 after starting off poorly. Good luck with your classes at FSU. BTW, What are you planning to do with the history degree? My brother and my former roommate are both history majors.
  11. lol, I always love how people keep guessing after the actual weight was posted... FWIW, I was going to say 10-11lbs. The head is gigantic and when the rest of the body is proportionate that means a biggun.
  12. also, they are not that bright in real life. They are a bit darker and greenish in color. TW's photos always tend to wash out the baits a little bit.
  13. I have not used the Powell rods but I will say that my Kistler Magnesium (the telescopic flipping stick model) is perfect for flipping and pitching and frogs. It has a lot of backbone while also having a soft tip which helps while casting lighter frogs. I use it for jigs and frogs. If the same action carries over to the Argon series then I think you would be very happy with the Kistler.
  14. Picasso. Click the image, it's a link to TW
  15. "Like" has nothing to do with my assessment. I am saying that the SEC has higher quality teams this year. I think I was one of the only people in the country who thought the top 3 in the Big12 were overrated last year until bowl season. My assessment is based on what I saw at the end of last year which was TT and OU losing to SEC teams and Texas performing pretty poorly against a non-elite Ohio State team. I'd be willing to bet that the top SEC teams outperform the top Big12 teams this year either in rankings or bowl victories by the end of the season. If I'm wrong, I like my crow with a little pepper and hot sauce.
  16. That's probably the best way to go.
  17. I will 110% DISAGREE with you on this one.Big 12 is it. based one what? Texas Tech's bowl loss, Oklahoma's bowl loss, or Texas' meager win over Ohio St? Big 12 is better and that's all there is to it. Yes, Tech and the Sooners lost(thank God) but Texas won. A W is a W in my book. I honestly believe that the horns will dominate the big 12 and natl title game. And I also believe if the Horns would not have gotten S*** on the way they did, Orakpo would have stopped Tebow. Especially from that little fairy twinkletoes jump pass he does. Besides you are from Va you should be a VA tech or Virginia fan. Which is a wonderful rivalry BTW. Went to a game when I was stationed in Norfolk. That's a pretty poor argument, dude. And why can't I like other teams? I don't really have a favorite FBS team, I just really like college football in general and from my unbiased opinion I think it's pretty clear that the SEC is the conference to beat this year. Sure, the Big12 had some high ranked teams last year but they choked when it came to the bowl games (again, with the exception of Texas who squeaked by Ohio State which was not an elite team by any means last year.)
  18. JV college ball? I'm assuming you are talking about I-AA or FCS. This is a college football thread. College football at the FCS level is still very competitive and we have members who are fans, students, or alumni from some of the top programs at that level so why can't we discuss our rivalries here? "big boys who have dogs in the hunt"...pffft, It's a game and you're a fan. Not a player. I think you're seriously underestimating the fan base and competitiveness of FCS football. Ask Joe Flacco about it. Or Brian Westbrook the next time you pick him for your fantasy draft.
  19. ok, that's what I thought. It's possible to fish there at night but not legal.
  20. Yeah, I was just noticing a rise in newbie posts.
  21. I will 110% DISAGREE with you on this one.Big 12 is it. based one what? Texas Tech's bowl loss, Oklahoma's bowl loss, or Texas' meager win over Ohio St?
  22. is there a gate at the launch by the church? I didn't remember seeing one.
  23. I've been meaning to check out Beaverdam Creek Reservoir, and haven't made it there yet. Is access to it cut off at night? If you are asking me whether or not it is possible (but not necessarily legal) to fish B'Dam at night then I would have to answer: Yes, to the best of my knowledge there is no way to lock or close the launch area at B'Dam. As far as I remember there is just a dirt road down to the parking area and launch. There may be a gate that I don't remember seeing but as far as I remember there isn't one. That said, I still don't know if you are allowed to be there at night.
  24. As I recall, a 4th in the SEC Ole Miss team beat Texas Tech last year in the Cotton Bowl. Who did that TT team beat last year? Hmmm...Oh yeah! Texas I know the transitive property doesn't work in football, but I'm just saying....
