Then why don't the other hundred some guys do the same thing? Why does he flip out on his short features between shows on ESPN on the weekends?

So you're telling me that you shout at the top of your lungs so everyone on the lake can hear you and spit all over the deck of your boat whenever you catch fish? If so, please video tape it and post a link ;D

I have never said anything about not liking him. I'm not even assuming anything about his character, I'm just saying I think it's sort of a show that he puts on for the benefit of the crowd and to energize the sport, that's all. I'm not judging him, I just think he has a good marketing plan. Glenn, so you're saying in the 10 years that you have known him his demeanor, style, or attitude haven't changed in ways that seem more hip/energetic/showy? Besides that, has the extent of your relationship ever been anything other than fishing celebrity/media outlet owner? Please don't read my posts and picture me sitting behind my computer with an angry face. I seriously don't care what he is, I just think it is a clever marketing plan and I'm open to any evidence that is stronger than what HE wrote in a book or how HE is represented in the media because I still think those could very easily reflect the persona, not the person.

No, I'm just tired of being told I'm 100% wrong. I don't care if he is genuine or not. He is a fantastic fisherman and he has brought tons of attention to the professional level of our hobby. I'm just saying it seems more than possible to me that his persona was created to garner just that sort of attention. I honestly don't care I'm just telling it like I think it is.

If I need longer range and a quite delivery I just use a soft sidearm lob.

How in the world does that prove anything though? Couldn't he just be writing from the perspective of his "character" just like he acts it?

$75 for a purple paint job and 10 ft? You and your fishing partner are standing on the boat right next to each other, you see this really kool stump with a sign " Big momma bass is here" the boat approaches to the stump and both cast at the same time, you got the Mean Purple, your pal got the Mean Green, baits fly in mid air, baits land but your bait lands right next to the stump and you catch big momma , your pal looks at you > cuz his bait landed ten feet short from the stump. That 's worth more than 75 dollars. I don't ever pitch from that kind of range though. I have never had to pitch more than 30 ft and I can do that easily with a Citica instead of a $300+ reel

Fishing near JMU
:-X j/k. I just graduated from JMU. There are actually bass in Newman Lake on campus but I never caught any big ones there and the lake is pretty nasty sometimes. There is Silver Lake off of Rt. 42 (High St. ) If you go South from Memorial Hall. Just turn right when you see a sign for Silver Lake Mill on the right. Don't go during trout season without a trout stamp. It is stocked so you must have a trout stamp to fish it (you won't need one in the fall) Then there is the North River in Bridgewater. Just go south on High St. until you get into Bridgewater and turn left just BEFORE the bridge and then into the little park along the river. There is some good fishing in there. Make sure you take some weedless topwater baits like frogs or something because the weeds grow very high by Fall. There are smallmouths, largemouth, and even pike in that part of the river. You can also continue down the road that you turned left onto from High St. and keep going past the football fields and to where the road ends. There is a little dirt road parking area along the river behind the golf course where you can catch some smallies and largies. Also, you can try the Shenandoah at Port Republic (just go east on Port Republic Road until you cross two bridges and then keep an eye out for a left turn marked by a brown "Public Boat Ramp" sign. This spot is the farthest from campus. Lastly, there is Lake Shenandoah. It can really be hit or miss. Lots of weeds and not much else to fish. There are musky in the lake but I've never caught one. To get there, go east on Port Republic, then take a left on Shen. Lake Rd. than a right on Massanetta Springs Rd. They rent boats and motors there but the building that rents them is hardly ever open so I've never done it. If you are a freshman then you might be out of luck until you find a friend with a car who will take you or let you borrow their wheels. Until then you might be stuck with Newman lake but I've caught many bass from there. Also, I usually fish where the creek feeds the lake right by the stadium and sorority row. Those sorority girls used to freak out whenever I actually caught a fish outta there.

I'm still not convinced. The camera thing and the unbelievable screams are just too much to overcome.

H2O Swimbaits ?
wow! you say they're called "swimbaits" huh? Whadda they look like? Dude, we all know about swimbaits (you'd have to live pretty far off the fishing grid to be unaware of swimbaits), the topic at hand is just a specific kind or brand of swimbait that is new.

Surf fishing is not so great during the summer but you can still catch some fish. I've caught blues skates, and flounder in the summer. As for what to use--just go to a local tackle shop and ask. They will help you out. Typically, surf fishing down there involves very long rods and bottom rigs (large weight attached to a wire contraption that has two or more hooks) with squid or mullet (usually frozen) but there are a variety of options. If you want to do some bassin, shoot me a PM and I will let you know of some largemouth ponds in the area.

Alright!
I was gonna ask the same thing a few days ago...

Potomac tomorrow???
If no one else is able to go, give me a call. I don't want to be greedy. I will be free tomorrow until about 3pm though. I'm waiting for my Zillion stick to get here tonight and I'm going to test it out tomorrow either way.

I think it's an act also but he's a good fisherman and probably good for the sport. I've seen him act completely normal after catching a fish and then he kind of glanced up and you could tell he noticed the cameraman and remember he was there and then started going ballistic. A lot of his outbursts just seem forced to me. Also, you're telling me he went from this: To this: ...naturally? I think he was manufactured by the industry but I still think it's good for the sport.

Sickest find ever...
Wait, I feel like there is a possibility there is an explanation that makes the situation less disgusting. What if the dog was already dead from natural causes or something. Sure, it could have been buried but I'd still like to know just in case. Also, what if the dog was dying a long and painful death? I've heard drowning is fairly painless although I'm not sure how anyone would really know...It's just like the post about the dead horse. Hasn't anyone seen City Slickers when Curly shoots the mother cow after it gives birth because it was in pain? No doubt the story sounds despicable but I'd just like to know all the facts because I HOPE that there is some sort of explanation that makes me less disappointed in the human race.

Fishermans Dream!!
you can fish topwater all day if you want, especially if topwaters but the best times are the times close to dawn (both before and after) and night time. I wouldn't suggest rage shads for smallmouth in the areas you are wading. Go with something that has treble hooks or a single hook but smaller profile for now. I like poppers, walking baits, jitterbugs, etc...

Unusual places you'd love to fish
Are these the aqueducts everyone films car chase scenes in ? I assume they are off limits to the public ? No, youre thinking of the LA River and all the drainage canals around there I think. The aqueduct runs from the San Joaquin River Delta in northern california, and runs all the way to the greater LA area. It is the biggest crock of **** I have ever seen. All of our water is sold to the central valley and southern california. We get reservoirs that are 150ft low, nearly non-existant salmon runs, and a completely unstable Delta. Southern California gets full reservoirs and water they do not deserve > F the aqueduct. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/California_Aqueduct You should watch the movie "Chinatown"
