  1. Great. Now Dan is going to call me out on this one, too. He already called me out on being late on the boat crash video. Just ignore this thread. I'll read that one. LOL, you just need to be like some of the rest of us and check every section of the forum three or four times a day...
  2. That's interesting. I'd like to see if that helps or hurts as far as staying afloat and compressing on hooksets.
  3. I do the same but I add the few lipless cranks in with the few deep cranks I use and then another box with swimbaits.
  4. We've had two threads in the past couple weeks about these but I don't think anyone has really tried them. I just saw that the BPS in Ashland has them in stock. I'd be interested to see if they are any different than the Spros at all.
  5. and twenty dollar bills for wiping his arse?
  6. I'm with him-- get a "st. coxi"
  7. what a fishery.... You must be a quick learner to be doing so well despite only living in the area for a year and a half.
  8. They probably will....as long as they're brown. Use shakey head jigs that are between 1/8 and 1/4oz. Take some shakey head finesse worms to try as well as some flukes and maybe some tubes--just make sure you have all of them in some sort of green pumpkin color.
  9. they are made of tungsten which is denser than lead, meaning a 3/8oz lead weight is much bulkier than a 3/8oz tungsten weight. Tungsten also transmits vibration more than lead as a result of being denser.
  10. I'm going to wait to actually hear some information about the incident before I determine that he was "playing with fire"...
  11. YOU SHUT YOUR MOUTH WHEN YOU TALK ABOUT TACKLE WAREHOUSE!! > ;D Also, FWIW, we have two DSG stores near me and they carry pretty different stocks of fishing gear.
  12. I haven't used it because I have Photoshop but I've heard irfanview is pretty good.
  13. I know he uses them as a jig trailer but I don't know about a texas rig. I fished with him once and saw how great the flapping hogs look as jig trailers and I just went out and bought a whole bunch of them. I caught one the other day using them on a texas rig but they are kind of small bodied so you need a small hook.
  14. If I recall they had a good amount of both of those colors but they weren't on sale.
  15. I just cleared out Dick's Sporting Goods (5 packs was all they had) for 20% off and I was just at Greentop near Richmond that had them on sale (3.89/pack for watermelon, black/red, and a purple color that I didn't want) I think you can call Greentop and order from them. Their website doesn't have all of their stock but if you are really running low you might want to give them a call and ask them about what they have and all the colors that are on sale. If I had known you were looking for them I would have grabbed some for you while I was there...
  16. That net handled the hybrid quite well. Then again, I am the best net man this side of the Mississippi. It barely fit, but I got it on the first try. That net has landed quite a few big fish over the last couple of years. Wow, I would not have expected it to fit in that net. You must be a pretty extreme net man, Burley.
  17. Please tell me that you got a new net since the musky shenanigans because there's no chance that thing would have done any good for that hybrid.
  18. I can let you know in about a week. I have a 7'2" Spinning Cumara and I am about to get a 6'9" MH Casting Zillion. If you give me about a week or two I will try to give you my best comparison as far as sensitivity goes.
  19. I assumed there were bass in there like the other rivers but I've never really heard people talk about it as a bass fishery like they do about the Potomac or the James. Is it as good of a fishery as the other two?
  20. Dan: replied to jimmieO's topic in Everything Else
Itunes or Zune. You can also use Amazon to just download songs but I've had issues with their downloading program...
  21. I'd like to see the girth and length measurements compared to Perry's. That way we can finally end the debate over whether Perry's was legit or not.
  22. What Micro said. Virginia has a ton of brackish water. Almost all of the major rivers in Virginia are tidal (Potomac, Rappahannock, James). I haven't heard much about bass in the tidal Rapp but the other two are excellent tidal bass fisheries (Rowland, I will assume you left out the P'mac because it is too far away) Make sure you try to get an understanding on how the tide affects the fish. The consistently successful guys are usually the ones who manage the tides.
  23. Personally, I would use the money on a jig/worm rod but if you've got the dough, why not? I hope it fishes well enough to earn that price tag!
  24. I just saw an episode of "Skeeter Bass Champs" and they were having a paper tournament. One of the fish they weighed showed 4lbs 15ounces on the scale. Then the host said they had a "Four point one five pound bass" and they recorded it as 4.15lbs on the paper. My question is: Are there scales that provide measurements in decimal form? I could have sworn it said 4 lbs 15 ounces on the scale but if there are scales that show weights as tenths and hundredths of a pound then I don't want to say I am positive because that means those guys were given 4.15lbs on the scorecard when they really deserved 4.93. I can imagine that unit conversion has cost some people money.
