  1. I agree with what has been posted. It is a beautiful bait but the action isn't that great. It tends to roll over pretty easily. It works ok if you twitch it and dead stick it. So yes, I have caught fish on it but it's not the greatest small swimbait.
  2. Right!?!? And no one is willing to take me there! Tomorrow is the wedding and we are leaving on Sunday so I don't think I'm going to be able to check it out.
  3. that fish looks like a plank! Great job on the new pb. I just started fishing jigs this year and they are now one of my top baits.
  4. Good for him! :
  5. Dan's too busy looking for man-love... ;D I saw some dudes that were in man-love the other day in SF. And a homeless trumpet player with a pet rabbit for that matter... I don't think I'm going to be able to kick fourbizz. I'm still not old enough to drive the rental cars and I'm trying to get someone to take me on a trip to Hi's Tacklebox today. Then Saturday is the wedding and Sunday I fly home.
  6. I'm posting from my brother's apartment in beautiful Danville, CA right now. My whole family is out here for his wedding on Saturday. We just got back from the post-rehearsal dinner. Yesterday we checked out the whole tourist scene in San Francisco. I don't think I've ever felt like I was standing next to so many crazy people in my life...definitely an interesting scene out there. I was hoping to do some fishing while I was out here but I didn't want to ship any of my rods and risk them getting broken and I don't think I'm going to have enough spare time. I got some awesome info from Fourbizz about a few lakes nearby and it is killing me not to be able to go after them. I guess I'll have to get my fishing fix after I come back on Sunday. Oh, btw, the weather is AMAZING out here. It has been a fantastic break from the humidity that we'd been experiencing in Virginia recently. It has been in the 70s and 80s and DRY for our whole visit. The evenings here are absolutely fantastic!

Might have been handy to have that on your hip while you were dealing with the insufferable car salesman.
  8. Do you know what rod you want to put it on? If so, will that rod balance out with the lighter reel or will it be more balanced with the heavier STX?
  9. x2. It could be one of any number of brands, aka: generic.

I just fished with a Potomac guide that fishes primarily in one of the most highly invaded areas of the river. He says that of the snakeheads that have been caught he has never heard of one that had bass inside of it. On the other hand, he has cleaned and heard of plenty of bass that have had baby snakeheads in their bellies. We've already had this discussion before. Invasive species are bad because of the unforeseeable consequences that they might have on an ecosystem...BUT...in the case of the Potomac River, they have not created any noticeable changes in the ecosystem.

Yes, they were introduced illegally. They are smuggled to the country for sale in Asian markets because they are used in some Asian recipes. People bought them to eat and then released them because they either didn't realize the possible consequences or just didn't care what could happen.
  12. Some nice baits in some awesome colors. nice one, Muddy.
  13. I completely understand the problem, Brokeju. Nice fish. And the un-editing stuff is bull honkey. Like JFrancho said, once a jpg is saved it is flattened. Un-editing it would be like trying to manipulate a photograph to see what was behind a person. The data just isn't there.

Why not? I've heard they are some of the best tasting freshwater fish.

in maryland you wont get in trouble for keeping them?? well actually i thought there was a national law about them?? well anyways nice looking monsters. The law is that you must kill them if you catch them. After that they could care less what you do with thim--throw them on the bank, feed them to stray cats, display their heads on your car antennaes, or eat them... i thought we had to call some number and report it. but like you said they probably wouldnt care as long as its dead. Yeah, they used to say to call the VDGIF when you caught one to report it but I've heard that they are telling people not to call anymore because they are getting too many calls.

  17. I agree with what others have said, you need a heavier rod for sure and make yourself wait a couple of seconds after the hit before you set the hook. Don't worry about the fish "feeling" the bait and spitting it out. You will lose more fish by setting too early than you will because the fish spit the bait because they can tell it is fake. I set the hook as hard as I can straight upward
  18. Every show needs a Dale Gribble. "Raw ceviche, where did I go wrong??"
  19. Sorry guys, I'll stop. I just got sick of someone so obviously ignorant about fishing gear making such derisive posts about other people's gear.
  20. and the other rods are just jumping on the foam and/or split grip bandwagons?
  21. I have been trying to get Mass Effect for the last two weeks but every store I've been to is out. Is it a long game?
  22. Good thinking. Grocery stores have all sorts of cheap fish, it's hard to think that someone might really NEED to eat the fish they catch. Plus, then you don't have to go through the hassle of cleaning them.
  23. spines are on the tips of the fins. They can hurt really bad if they get ya good. Just be careful when handling them. To be honest I have no clue what type of cat it is. I have never really put the effort into learning the difference because I honestly don't care enough. Not my favorite fish to catch or style of fishing.
  24. good job Michelle! Be careful of the spines on those catfish.
  25. Yes, but only if you dig up a $20 off $100 coupon first to make the price more palatable (they are everywhere). The Citica can be found online for $95-100 (haven't seen it under $90 but I'm sure if you were diligent like Sweet Daddy you could find one). Best reel under $150? No. Favorite reel of many in that range? Sure. That's because it competes favorably with the reels in that price range.
