  1. People use many reels other than the MEGA-drag-Revos to flip and pitch and they work just fine. Drag is overrated IMO.
  2. This makes me worried about using my STX for flipping and froggin...although my rod has a softer tip to it. btw, tackle tour's tested the SX and it maxed out at 11lbs of drag.
  3. I'll bet the arms are bent out of shape. Make sure they are straight. Mine came bent out of the package.
  4. w t f? Didn't you get a burger for Tom, too?
  5. Yes, you have to register a boat even if it has an electric motor.
  6. and you can get them for $149 - $20 rebate = $129 at www.simmonssportinggoods.com
  7. As long as everyone sticks to their assignments it's not that hard to defend. The problems come when you have a ridiculous athlete thrown in there like Vince Young or Pat White. That is why the option is used more at high school levels and less in college and even less in the Pros (like not at all). Once the skill and knowledge levels are that high, the option is not as successful.
  8. being the son of a USNA graduate, I watched a lot of Paul Johnson in the last few years. He really is a great coach but I'm just not sure an option offense is capable of winning national championships anymore. You will not see an option offense win the national title anymore without some other facet of their game being superior also offensively. The reason I said they won't win a national title Chris at Tech is because defending the option requires discpline and technique. The biggest part of discipline is reading your keys and staying where you are supposed to be. The option is great for the regular season because with one week-2 max to prepare for it, its still tough to defend. When you give these top notch D coordinators at BCS schools a month plus to drill it into the skulls of their defenders, its gonna get snuffed out most of the time. GT will have to build a heckuva D to win a national title with that offense. I am a big Paul Johnson fan though. bingo. Couldn't have said it better. Top tier programs with top tier players and coaching should be able to defend the option easily.
  9. That would be impossible to use where I fish frogs. cut the bottom barb off I'm not sure that would help any. I would be cleaning the hook off constantly.
  10. LOL...yeah makes sense. huh, cant get the $20 off and glasses? bummer. Nope. The small print on the rebate card says "Offer may not be combined with any other offer."
  11. Yeah, it won't work for the STX at that price. I might pick up a Premier and I was going to order the Slyde glasses. Don't get the P-17s. They felt flimsy as hell when I looked at them at the store. I already have a pair of CDMs but a spare pair of glasses is worth more than the $20 rebate to me and since you can only use one of the promotions I figured I would go with the glasses.
  12. I've often wondered the same thing, although I don't agree about the other rods. The Avids and up are all very good rods at their pricepoints. I preferred my LTB to my Cumara as far as sensitivity goes.
  13. wow, nice Rowland. I would hate to be the guy that tries to break into your house...
  14. Post of the year! Except the part about not winning a national championship I cannot freakin' wait to see the GT offense this year. If we did as well as we did last year while most of the guys still didn't understand the offense, this year could be downright ugly...for GT's opponents being the son of a USNA graduate, I watched a lot of Paul Johnson in the last few years. He really is a great coach but I'm just not sure an option offense is capable of winning national championships anymore.
  15. Most browsers have features that allow you to save your username and password. All I have to do is go to the bottom of the page and click a button.
  16. That would be impossible to use where I fish frogs.
  17. fwiw, Simmons is a fantastic place to do business.
  18. I wish I could take a taxi there but now I'm out of time and it would have cut into my tackle money. You're definitely right about Fisherman's Wharf. I thought DC and New Orleans could be weird but San Fran takes the cake. One of the "performers" just sat there and held up a couple of branches and jumped out at people. Apparently he said he makes like $50k a year.... Now I have the wedding tomorrow and cleanup afterwards. Being a groomsman is a lot of work. I hate to say it but I could get used to living out here....just need to find some goats. 8-)
  19. Andrew, give me a call, text, or PM the next time you want to go out. My schedule is still pretty wide open as I am still searching for a job. btw, I love those flapping hogs. They are great on flipping jigs and shakey heads. I think that is what I caught most of those fish on when we were out on the Potomac on July 4th.
  20. Missing hooksets is part of fishing frogs. Waiting a few seconds and setting the hook hard is all you can do.
  21. I've never seen Powells in any stores around here and I've been to most of them.
  22. was it an STX that he bent? How did he bend it?
  23. It does it just about every night at the same time.
  24. AFAIK Swift Creek Reservoir and Lake are the same thing. What you see off of Hull St. is an arm of Swift Creek Lake.
