  1. Jason, yes, you can wade the river near the athletic fields. There are some deep holes as well as an area loaded with grass, but a lot of it is perfectly wadeable.
  2. The New is almost certainly one of (if not) Virginia's prettiest rivers. I am at JMU for one more year of school and I have to say, the New almost makes me wish I had enrolled at VT

Saw it this weekend. it was great. In the movie, they hint that the Joker will be a continuing villain, neither him nor Batman willing to kill each other, but obviously that may not pan out because of Ledger's death. Me and a friend were trying to remember other Batman villains and could only come up with Bane, The Riddler, Mr Freeze, and the Penguin.
  4. The New River is one of the premier smallmouth fisheries on the East coast. Make a post in the Southeast Section, someone local may be able to help you. I've fished it twice but I don't know enough to give you any worthwhile tips...
  5. Thanks guys. Like I said, I don't mind sharing with a few people, but there are more and more people there these days and I figure it might be a post that was found through google and I just want to make sure...
  6. Was that on that trip to the spot I recommended to Jason? If so, I'm glad other people are finding success there as well. I definitely want to go with you guys before I go back to school on August 15th. Please, though, if you can help it, try to keep it between a few people and avoid making public posts that will come up in google searches. I don't want to be a jerk about it, and I am more than happy to share it with members of the forum, but the place is starting to get more crowded and it is just a small river.
  7. Did you go to the Rapidan? If so, did you go upstream past the bridge or downstream? Yes we did, we went up river. We got shoulder deep in some water. If we were so tired we would have fished it more and better. The heat was killlller. Cool. I have to try upriver, I've always gone downriver

  9. Sorry about your outing, guys. I still wish I could have gone. All I did today was sit around and eat a sandwich. Although it was nice to rest and try to get better. Hopefully the next Fish a palooza will go better. (I just hope it's before August 15th... )
  10. Definitely more than 5 miles. Look on Google maps. There is a park (Northern Virginia Regional Park on google maps) that is closer but carrying a kayak or canoe from there would be a total pain in the a*& because it is very hilly and you have to hike a while from the parking to the river.
  11. Riverbend Regional Park is below Algonkian and above the falls. That seems like a very long paddle, though.
  12. Sorry guys, couldn't make it because I'm not feeling too well. I wanna see some pictures, though. Hopefully the next fish-a-palooza will happen before I go back to school.
  13. Yeah, Algonkian isn't my favorite place to fish from the bank, I think it's best to only launch from there. Riverbend Park is a little better as far as rocks.
  14. I got one of the DB Minnows in Bluegill for the same price last week. It looked too good to pass up at that price. I haven't tried it, but the hooks and the paint job are very nice.
  15. Welcome back, Dom!
  16. Perhaps. It depends on how much energy I have
  17. *$&^! I didn't even think about using the USPS to ship my rod back to St Croix! I paid $40 for packing and shipping an Avid (which barely weighs anything!) to Wisconsin.
  18. I am pretty sure me and my friend will be coming. We'll be there at or shortly after 6am. I hope you goons don't rent all the boats before we get there
  19. How much will it cost to rent a boat, motor, and battery and to launch? If my friend who comes to visit is interested, I might be able to come.
  20. yeah, I looked that up, but my Aunt lives very close to the Patuxent River and I have been wanting to try fishing up there. So, I guess nobody is interested in going, huh? I guess it'll just be me and my friend then...
  21. Good luck, Andy! I wish you and your family all the best.
  22. crap! I thought that might be the case. Even so, I may get a license so I can fish there this weekend and also later up on the Patuxent near my Aunt's house.
