  1. its designed to be a swimming worm but I also fish them with a heavier sinker along deep wed lines just like any other texas rigged worm and they work great that way too.
  2. its the shipping that kills you on rod resale or trade. i have a couple exprides , a legend tournament a megabass levante and a ouple more rods i would like to sell. so lets take the expride, paid 279 would sell for 150 or so. then i have to ship it which is gonna run 40 plus. thats where the money gets eaten up unless you can sell local.
  3. if you fish around grass. which in upstate NY im sire you do, dont be afraid to throw a 10 inch worm n the grass. its thick down there show them something that gets their attention and is worth moving to get. I fish a 10 inch worm every time i fish in summer.
  4. idk but if i see them dicounted ill be buying some.My favorite reel.
  5. If you want a true craw bait not a trailer the great lakes finesse juvy craw is excellent.
  6. i definitley believe in bite windows. you ever drive a ways and notice and notice there seems to be deer in every field at a certain time. drive the same road the next day and see nothing. there is definetly smething that drives fish and game to be active at certain times. That doesnr mean thats the only time you ca get a bite but they certainly turn on and off during the day.
  7. Im not a huge dobyns guy ( great rods just not what i prefer) but they do make a great crankbait rod. a 734 or 735 will handle most small to medium crankbaits pretty well. around here in summer our fish get pretty deep you need a 6 8 or even 10xd sized gait to get down to them. the best rod i have found for that is the 806cb champion. i use that one alot this time of year and it is fantastic for big deep diving plugs.
  8. i use them alot. they are really made to be swam through grass with a light bullet weight. However the bass dont know that and if you fish one with a 3/8 weight in about 17feet on a deep weedline they are more than happy to eat them,
  9. im pretty much the same. im pretty serious about my fishing as far as i want to be educated on fishing and put myself in the best position to catch fish . i have a rough idea of how many i catch each trip but dont usually know the exact number. Idont fish tournaments . to me the fun is seeing if you can figure out the puzzle for that day. some days you do and it feels great other days you dont and thats ok. The fish win sometimes too. im glad to be out there and just doing what i enjoy and the peace and quiet.
  10. This is pretty much me. I rarely look for fish themselves except bait . i mostly have spots marked and go to them based on my hunches and seasonal patterns. im sure sometimes there are no fish there and its not as efficient as graphing for the fish themselves but its just how ive always done it. our lakes also have alot of grass so the fish can be there but you cant see them.
  11. SHHH you guys are killing me. I use a 3/4 oz with a 7inch fluke when the fish get on deep rocks here in summer. its deeper than i can get a crankbait and sometimes you need to get a reaction bite that the c rig and football jig wont get.
  12. im not sure they make one between the 2 but im not an expert. Took me a minute to get used to my fmj too but now i love it. half to 3/4 ounce football jigs, 1/2 ounce jigs in grass. light grass flipping with a 3/8 ounce sinker and a beaver bait. those are some things ive found i really like it for so far.
  13. i like the talisman but im with you on the sniper finesse. Ithink its the best neko hook out there.
  14. i havent owned mine too long, about a year. so far no issues. im fairly careful with my stuff but clumsy.lol. i have 3 p5s and all have been fine so far.
  15. yeah for grass definitely a medium. the jade python , p5 windbuster loomis 842 would all be great high end options. an expride or one of the alx rods would be great too for a more reasonable price. I think the ALX rods are overlooked.
  16. i like to fish them deep in summer. i use 3/8 weighted beast hook. the glide to the bottom ina kind of spiral. lift it pop it a little bit and let it glide again.
  17. yeah i would skin hook the worm. Also not all medium light rods are the same , a light tip is ok but i would want a solid back bone below the first 8 inches or so. your line and leader will be fine.I usually set my drag so that it slips just after i get down into that backbone. kind of hard to describe.
  18. i bought a spool of 16 pound sunline supernatural yesterday.it spooled on my baitcaster beautifully.casts great havent actually fished it yet. so we will see about strength and stretch this weekend.
  19. yes think about it, natural prey will usually match the color of the habitat or at least be close. an old piece of fishing advise was when your fishing clear water try to match the color of the bottom.
  20. tom makes a good point, whichever jig you choose you want it heavy enough to just reach bottom not crash into it and bury.
  21. I use the twist lock simply because the bait lasts a little longer. ewg works fine but the head of the baits rip out a little easier.
  22. i cant help you with a higher end option.1 do have an addermine as my dropshot rod and i have to say if i broke it it would be the one rod i would pay full price to replace again. speaing of have you made a warranty claim? i also have the expride 72ml and it is a great texas rig and open hook ds rod. you could use it until your warranty is taken care of.
