  1. the san Diego jam is so simple. its kind of like an upside down improved clinch but you go around both lines. if you tie it 5 times youll master it.
  2. what i meant was people either love them or hate them. the grips are a little different and the actions can be decieving. they feel stiffer than they really are. the fmj feels pretty broom stick like but when you load up on a fish it has a beautiful deep bend that helps keep fish pinned. i fish p5 loomis and high end st.croix but something abouth the p5s just really tickle my fancy.Although i prefer the actions of some other rods for certain things.
  3. Ifish a loomis 844 and p5 fmj on most of my texas rigs. heavier ones that is. in spring we catch alot of fish shallow on light texas rigs. they go on an xbites or loomis 843 for me . the p5s are a polarizing rod ,seems you either love them or dont. i actually prefer them to the loomis beacause they just feel better to me though they probably arent quite as sensitive.
  4. anything z man. as for the line and hook depends on what fits he bait.
  5. if you feel anything he doesnt have hands ,its in his mouth. set the hook
  6. thats the way i am and why i love my 360. nothing against ffs but i get to fish one day a week. if im lucky. when i get that chance i want to fish.
  7. amen. For years i stayed right around $300 then i broke down and bought a p5 ...now i own 4 more and several loomis imx . oh well there goes that barrier. its probably only the beggining . i bought myself 1 p5 years ago. now i own 5 and several loomis glx.freaking things are like crack.
  8. lol me too. I remember saying im not paying $25 for a jerkbait. now i own a box full of them and dont even flinch.
  9. i have the rumble.does well for me heavy enough in the mid to pull through grass but its got the slower tip to let them eat it. works good for lipless also.
  10. 10 inch unit and lvs 34 for 2600best price ive seen.I considered it but still cant quite bring myself to put ffs on my boat.
  11. i usually just remove any slack and just gently sweep the rod while reeling.as long as you keep the slack out as the fish pulls away it will pull the hook even deeper in the mouth.
  12. amen. People talk about fishing offshore like it can only be done with ffs. well ive been fishing off shore with side and down imaging for 20 years . it was effective then as it is now . A texas rig, football jig ,carolina rig, dropshot all still catch fish. they may not win a tournament but thats not what im there for. you can still have plenty of good days of fishing offshore without ffs.
  13. I have 360 and really like it. i dont want ffs because im an old man and dont think its real fishing. thats just for me i dont care what others do.as much as i like 360 i think for clear water smallmuth up north you would be better off with ffs.
  14. i was thinking about getting one. i have a windbuster and an addermine so wanted something different. Isaw punches review and will be ordering next week if i dont get to the tackle store this weekend. ill post a review but like you im in pa and my water is hard right now, so it will be a couple months.
  15. i have a windbuster also. i like it for bottom contact such as free rig ,shakeyhead ,small texas rig light finesse jigs etc. its not a good dropshot rod or ned rod etc. too stout of a tip. the addermine may be more to your liking.
  16. i can tie it. i use the method where you tie a loop in braid and connect to the reel handle. i then tension the fluor with my foot on the spool. i have found one mistake is to have the braid too tight. you want it taught but when you make a wrap with fluro it has to have enough slack to let the braid wrap. i find about every four wraps i pull an inch or 2 of drag. Its hard to describe but i could show you easily. Sometimes i just tie the alberto instead if im in a hurry. it does fine . The only thing for me is i like long leaders 15 ' so if theknot is on your reel spool you need to cut the fluoro flush up to the knot to prevent hanging. A little nerve wracking but if you cinch the knot tight first it wont slip.
  17. to be honest i fish more 4inch senkos or dingers on a ned style head than i do a true ned rig anymore. i also fish it on a light1/8 head or less in vegatation. So is it really a ned or is it a jig worm?Call it what you want it gets bites and decent size ones.
  18. just with the little info we have i would say lighten your weight and tackle.1/16 and 3/32 are the most productive weights for me. no more than 8 pound leader. and dont be afraid to swim it off bottom and let it glide back down as bluebasser said.
  19. idk I own both. i fish from whichever one the conditions call for.I prefer the boat because it offers more room for storage its more comfortable etc. But im not buyig a jet boat just to fish the river, and i have a couple small places that have excellent fishing but not boat ramps. So i use the kayak there and have a great time. I just use whichever tool is best for the job.
  20. if your gonna get the non elaztech version you better get a couple bags .They get bit but dont last long.
  21. im in south eastern pa .right near the MD line. about an hour from the susquehanna
  22. yes if thats what your looking for the 72 ml is what you want. cant comment on the solid tips . never used one.
