What is the most expensive bait you own, and why is it better than a similar bait that is less expensive?

KGB Crappie, $200. There's nothing really to compare it to for realism of a small crappie glide.

  • The Megabass Ito Vision 110 in GP Pro Perch. It was only like $25, but it's the one that triggered the obsession. To this day, I still curse the bait while removing it from every bulbous brown bass I

This is a custom glide I bought that was custom painted to resemble a translucent lake hartwell blue back herring. Cost? 75.00(i went back and checked. It was 75 not 100)

The Megabass Ito Vision 110 in GP Pro Perch.

It was only like $25, but it's the one that triggered the obsession.

Nice looking bait. Do you have a spare if you lose it?

Enough that I don’t have anywhere else to put more bags.

Nope.

Redundancy—that's just dumb.

BTW - I laughed right out loud right there.

Thanks.

I won't comment on hard baits since the sky's the limit on pricing.

But for a plastic bait? Probably the Coike Shrimp. They were about $5 each (pack of 4) when they first came out.

An individual Coike 17 or 13 is about $20 ea.

At the time, these were new so nothing was "better" per se. They were unique to the market.

The same could be said when the original dice came out as well

Nishine betour crankbait that was like $40 shipped. Have yet to catch a fish on it. Now Lucky Craft baits are totally worth the money especially the jerkbaits.

Assuming you are only talking bass tackle. Some of my muskie lures are worth more.

I have a couple of limited edition Megabass jerkbaits each worth about 40 bucks.

I have two 3:16 Workhorse Glides that I bought at retail. I also have a few of their wake baits. They are phenomenal baits and phenomenally expensive. They are well-tuned and works as advertised.

I purchased a 20 dollar Megabass Super Z 1 crankbait this winter because of all the reports on how well it cast. Havent been fishing yet to try it. Thats the only plus ten dollar lure I bought.

I've not gone down the swimbait rabbit hole yet (2026?). The family of Vision 110's is the most expensive bait I've purchased.

Only hard bait that I'm certain that exceeded $10 is a Spro jerkbait and while it's a fine bait, does not out fish my Lucky Craft pointers.

Never heard a bad report on the 110's but yet to drop $20+ on a single bait...... probably should rethink.

A trick shad that just ran me $25.

I don't think there is a less expensive option. I just wanted a decent quality do it all shad based hard swimbait to see if I can get into it. Now if I like it and it boats me some good fish then it could end up as AJay's GP Pro Perch 110 and set off a cascade.

The most expensive bait I have paid full retail for is a tiny klash @ $110. There is not really anything on the market to compare a tk or k9 to. I do feel the bait is overpriced for what it actually is.

But, $110 on a bait that will last forever if you do not lose it vs multiple bags of soft plastics at $5 to $7 a pop that need to be replaced every couple of fish...$110 is really not expensive. Plastics add up quick if you fish them a lot. That is why I always laugh at this conversation. Guys cant bring themselves to spend $60 on a chad shad, but will go through a couple hundred in plastics and not bat an eye. Make it make sense.

similar to @A-Jay - the Perch colored MB 110 (and 110 Jr +1) pulled me in to the $20 plus lures - I believe I have about a dozen of each (in Perch but also other colors) - Because 2 is 1 and 1 is none - at least that is what the Bait Monkey says )

Yup ~

And I fixed that one for you.

I don’t have anything that ran over $10, too many pickerel where I fish.
