  1. I bought a used bass boat and when purchased there was some mold on the sides of the livewell. What do you use to clean out livewells without killing fish later on?
  2. Norman makes very good crankbaits in my opionion and with every model being around $5 or less, they are very easy to get quantity if needed.
  3. Our club is looking into getting some tournament shirts made up for the 07'-08' season. Can anybody help me find some places that specialize in tournament shirts and have good prices? Thanks. -Braden
  4. NO!

All of my tackle are stored in 3700 size boxes. I have been keeping my hooks, jigheads, weights, and various other terminal accessories in a regular 3700 box. I had the same problem another member posted about were all my hooks and things were getting mixed together. I decided to fix that by placing a drop of super glue in each slot were the dividers go in. I was a little lazy that day and left all of my things in there, big mistake. After making sure none of the glue leaked onto my equipment, I closed the lid, second big mistake. Hours later I return to check out the box and I almost threw up...the great majority of my hooks, weights, etc. were covered in this white stuff :'(. It seems that everywhere I touched now has this white powder like coating, which by the way, DOES NOT COME OFF! Some of you guys use super glue to hold knots and so forth, will this effect my lures? -Braden
  5. It's real cool how how both of you feel about the deal. One who aprreciates the craftsmanship and quality of another's hard work and one who appreciates the ability of who he spends so much time and hard work to support. Real great example of the things this board can do...
  6. Has anyone tried the new Trilene Fluorocarbon? Just wondering if Berkley came out with a quality fluorocarbon line to accomodate thier Trilene monos or if they changed the packaging and name of Vanish and raised the price?
  7. The thing that drew me to the clarus was the lure rating of 1/4 to 1 1/4. However, as I keep looking...I'm seriously considering going with a rod with the rating of 1/4 to 1 oz. AND...Loomis makes a rod in that category so, you guessed it, the Monkey is making a lot or racket :'(
  8. It would mainly be used for flipping light jigs or flipping into soft cover. The price would really help out and allow me to spend a little extra on some other new rods that require a much greater feel
  9. Raul- The model that is 1/4 -1 1/4 is the Clarus. However. I'm leaning more towards the Crucial which is 1/4-1 oz.
  10. I saw that rod and am still considering it. However, the Shimano is rated from 1/4 to 1 1/4 oz lures where as the St. Croix is rated up to just 3/4 oz. I just think that maybe the Shimano would give me more options but if I'm going to be unhappy with the sensitivity then I'll pass on it.
  11. I'm pretty sure those two companies have the same owner or are joined somehow. Might be the "why" you got that bag but it sure isn't the "how" ;D
  12. Guys I've spent most of this year replacing rods and reels in my arsenal (look for me in the flea market in the next month or so ). Now I'm looking for flipping rods. I want a good rod that can flip smaller jigs like a 1/4 but, I don't want to sacrifice backbone. I've become a St. Croix rod supporter this summer but they don't have a rod with the ratings I'm looking for. However, Shimano does have a 7' MH Fast action with a rating of 1/4 to 1 1/4 oz lures. Can I choose this rod and and not be disappointed for what I plan to use it with? Will the MH give me enough backbone to haul fish out or gnarly places with braided line? The Shimano rods all have a lifetime warranty but how do they compare, in feel and sensitivity, with rods like St. Croix or Loomis? Appreciate the help guys. -Braden
  13. I've been trying to narrow down my choices as well. I plan on picking up a rod to flip 1/4 oz. and up jigs and plastics this winter. The ones I've looked at are made by Shimano. 1. Shimano Crucial 7' MH Fast 10-20 lb. 1/4-1 oz lures IM-9 blank $139.99 (It's out of the range you listed but might be worth it) 2. Shimano Clarus 7' MH EF 12-20 lb. 1/4-1 1/4 oz. lures IM-6 blank $69.99 I really like that the Clarus has an extra fast tip and handles an extra 1/4 oz. Also, the price tag is great. -Braden

The roboworm in 4" and black grape color is killer in both setups here in west tn. i'll use the trickworms on occasion (when i'm out of roboworms or need green pumpkin or watermelon). Also, zoom tiny flukes are good to use on both setups
  15. She wouldn't happen to be at the University of TN at Martin would she?

For anybody who adds a little color to store bought crankbaits, what kind of paint do you use and do you put anything over that?
  17. The only time not to fish a shakey head is when fishing grass. It is effective fishing the grass line and in openings but when in the grass you lose all the aspects of the shakey head. You will hang up in chunk rock but can sometimes maneuver out of it. Work it slow...and often times you don't need as much shakey...just slight twitches. Good luck and with practice this technique will help you tremendously. -Braden

Whittler, I can't take it anymore. I'd hate for you to be the only one to give up any plans, but all this talk about the Renegade DD has got me itchin'. If you ever get bored and if you don't mind, would you please post the details to that project. Maybe it will spark more interest and shared ideas.

    That's what I was thinking...maybe they're all top-secret?

Hey guys...if you have any lure modification ideas or secrets, would you mind posting them here as how-to's. Having how-to's on customizing hardbaits such as Whittler's "Poor-Man's Pointer" or even less intricate how-to's on bending the blades on prop baits to change their spit. Tips on jigs such as trimming weed guards and replacing skirts and even tying skirts. Just anything like that to give us anglers something to do on rainy days or cold days or for those of us who like to be creative 8-). Here's the link to Whittler's "Poor Man's Pointer." Whittler- if you have any problems with this, let me know and I'll remove it. http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1174101259 -Braden
  21. If they are the cylindrical style I would be interested in taking some
  22. I bought my first boat last year and it was a 1985 Bumble Bee V185. The only problems with it are the things that the previous owner had done himself. The boat is smooth for it's size, a 17'8. They did go out of business earlier this year I believe and I hope that they have been picked up by Stratos co.
  23. Hey guys...i ordered a new finesse setup. After reading a lot of posts on the board, I decided to jump ships and switch brands. You posse members might have a new recruit. What I ordered was a St. Croix Premier 6'6 ML Spinning with a Shimano Symetre SY1500FI. Also, after reading the Tackle Tour's Fluorocarbon tests, I decided to string this combo with 8 lb. XPS Fluorocarbon. I'll keep everybody posted with my results when the combo comes in.

After re-reading my post I'll try and focus my question. For those who fish this technique, should I stick with a ball head or should I switch to a darter head? From experience, which worms work best? Are there any seasonal or locational points that this technique shines in? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
  25. I was fishing the pond behind my house just the other day and I was using a Zoom finesse worm on a 1/8 oz. ballhead jig, shakey head style. My first cast was to a pocket in a tree that is layed down in shallow water. After a good minute and a half of twitching and shaking the worm, I had no strikes. As I start to reel it in though I got a small bite, not enough for a hookset. I tried that spot a few more times but nothing. I started moving down and casting towards breaks in the brush and weeds on the shore. No bites while fishing shakey style, but 5 fish and multiple hits in 45 minutes swimming the worm back to where I was at. I know this technique used to be very popular and have heard it mentioned but can't find anything. I tried searching the forums but nothing. Can anybody help?
