  1. Ive never even seen an aluminum bolt. Where do you get them? Any benefit over stainless? I got them at either Lowes or Home Depot... not any more expensive than standard bolts.... cheaper than stainless though.
  2. I am going to a resort/campground next weekend in N. Georgia. They have a private lake I can fish for trout. Anyone have any tips or suggestions for lures or bait? Thank you
  3. I use a Cuda 242 made by Eagle.. love it for my 14 ft. jon. However, I would love to have something with GPS if I could ever afford it, lol.
  4. Not at all, since they are holding aluminum. They work just great. No weaker than an aluminum rivet.
  5. Yoda for me.. that is funny. Figured I would get Bigfoot or something ;D :
  6. I had to to some transom work in my boat last year. Had to drill out about 12 rivets. I replaced them with 1/4 in. aluminum bolts, lock washers and nuts, and sealed them good with Marine Silicone. Never once has leaked and looks good too.
  7. Well, I have to run from the motors to the front of the boat, to the bigfoot switches, then back to the batteries. So all told, it will be 20 ft. of wire for each motor.... so I was thinking 6 ga. so as not to lose so much.
  8. Thank you for the info. Yes, I have 2 50 lb. Minn Kota motors on the back. I have went and exchanged all my batteries at Wal Mart, so they are all fresh and the same date. I only use the back motors, going from place to place, have a bow mount for actual fishing, so they will be used basically at the wide open, fastest setting at all times.
  9. For Trout, stuff with diced onion, minced garlic and some cream cheese. sew shut. get a charcoal grill going. Let the coals go white. Wrap the fish in Tin Foil. put on the coals. Turn every five minutes. Done in 10-15 min. depending on size of fish. Can you say delicious... mmmmmmmmm. and I am going trout fishing next weekend.....
  10. Shoot, I thought I got all that guys film.. :-[
  11. Play hunting and fishing games on xbox or PS3... or work on redesigning my jon boat set up for more efficiency. Or go practice pitching and flipping to a coffee can.
  12. To give my jon boat a cleaner look. I am wanting to take the 100 qt. cooler that I use as a live well and cut it down, so I can deck it even with the bench seats. What kind of total volume do I need to keep bass alive during tournaments, especially here in the summer in Georgia. I guess, what I am asking for is minimum dimensions for a live well that may have 3 large bass and 2 smaller bass in it at the same time, since I fish Varner and other lakes in the area, where a 6-10 lb. bass is not out of the question. Yes, it has an aerator installed in it, so there will be plenty of water circulation.
  13. I am setting my back trolling motors up on bigfoot switches. Can I run both motors off one switch or do I have to run each one individually. Also, if I tie my batteries together, can I run both 12V motors off them? Or am I making this more complicated than neccessary? I just went and priced 6 gauge wire, and I will be sleeping on the couch if the wife finds out how much I am wanting to spend... :-/ Also, will 12 gauge work to extend my Depth Finder wiring 4 ft. to reach the battery?
  14. I am shocked... poor Girl Scouts... have you figured out how many Girl Scouts it takes to make that many cookies??? It is a miracle we have any Girl Scouts left. :o ;D ;D : : ok ok,,, kinda sorta lost it there. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
  15. My grandads favorite saying was "It is only illegal if you get caught". Which he lived.. feeding 16 kids thru the depression with poached venison and salmon.... :-/
  16. The scared kind. How do I know it's scared? It keeps running away and hiding where I cant find it.. leaving big empty spots on my head.
  17. Hey everybody, Isnt technology great??? ;D : Check out this new phone....not sure of the price but I love it!! http://www.flixxy.com/sumsing-turbo-3000-cellphone.htm

They all get prettier at closing time,, hahahaha Actually Muddy, deer and elk meat is in the same category as turkey and fish as far as the cholesterol levels and fats. It is actually quite good for you. After my mom had her open heart surgery, the doctor told her she had to quit eating red meat (meaning beef) however, she could continue to eat all the elk and deer meat she wanted, since it would not hurt her... so if you get the chance, go out and hunt,, or go along... I do not know about others,, but in my camp, every one that comes to camp and helps out, even as a cook, gets an equal share of the meat.
  20. Burley, I am not necessarily a fan of the NBA. However, I have been a Portland fan since 1975, and was there when Bill Walton, Maurice Lucas and company won the title in 1977. So maybe I am more of a fan of the team, especially now that they have cleaned up the bad elements that seemed to permeate the team for about 7 or 8 years. ie.. Zach Randolph now in NY,, hahhahahahhaha Isiah is a sucker for that trade. So to answer your question, I watch my team, but do not follow the NBA in every aspect like I used to back in the day.

  22. I think the Celtics have the best shot,, but I am just biding my time... 2 or 3 yrs... then my Trail Blazers will be stomping around as the big dog in the league, with Oden, Roy, and Aldridge.... man, it sucks to be anyone else when those 3 get it together. Can you say Dynasty !!!!!!

It all goes to my brother, to hold for my nephew until he is old enough to know what it is, and what it means. Same for my guns, and hunting gear.
  24. My family and friends have called me a bear all my life. I have always been a big guy... 6'4" and close to 300 lbs. and I fish, so Fish Bear I was going to use Fish Bare for my boat name,, but my wife laughed herself silly at the idea, so I kinda stopped that thought.. :-/ :-[

Hey guys, just wanted to check in and say hi.... let you know I am alive. Just lost a lot of interest in everything lately. Lost my sister to her cancer battle on the 3rd of January, the day after I got back from seeing her. Then I had gall bladder surgery on the 10th. So, been dealing with that. Also, kinda lost my lust for fishing at the moment... tx season is getting ready to start here in Ga. and I am not planning on fishing in any. Really do not want to go fishing at all. Boat has sat in the back yard all winter, I am half done with the mods I started in the fall and that is where it has been left. Sorry to sound all gloomy and stuff, but that is how it is.... Anyway, hope this finds you all well and healthy, and catching lots of fish. John.
