Did you try a weedless rigged dropshot?

My nephew came up from Fort Benning for 2 days. I took him out fishing and we had a blast.... he is going back to Iraq next year. I thank him for his service every time I talk to him. When I was in Boy Scouts as a leader, I Loved going out and putting flags on all the veterans graves... then explaining to the boys what Memorial Day was really about... I would hope that it got thru to them and it still means somthing to them besides a cookout with the family. Hate to be this way, but Memorial Day has become another "Commercialized Holiday" that most Americans do not even know why we have this holiday.

Ax Men is a show that I wont miss, along with The Alaska EXperiment. That country in the Ax Men, is country I grew up hunting,hiking and camping in... Makes me kinda home sick

Ok, I have bought two big foot switches, and have the wiring run. My question is this, does anyone find they stumble on the switches when fishing? I was actually thinking of mounting them on the vertical portion of the bench seat, and just flipping them on by hand, so there is nothing on the floor that I may stumble on. Any ideas???

I have watched guys that are good fishermen fish both ways,, run and gun and cover a lot of territory and catch quite a few fish. However, it seems the guys that I know that catch the big ones, will find a spot and may sit on it for an hour, fishing every single inch of it, with plastics. Most guys I know, wont fish that way. However, I am learning to become a very patient slow down type fisherman.... This summer, my goal is to learn the dropshot and slow down my plastics presentations and hopefully catch one big hawg.

Glenn, I feel that you have done everything you can possibly do to make this a grade A website and forum. You and the mods have been more than fair and equal in all your dealings from what I have seen. You have a Grade A staff in Fluke, RW, 5 BAss, and even LBH, ;D. You can only put the rules in place you feel are necessary, and enforce them equally on everyone. Then no one can complain. Do not worry about sounding like a school teacher,,, I think we can safely say, no one looks at you that way. :. You work very hard to make this a home for 15,000 fisherpeople,(note the political correctness) : and you are not going to make every one of those people happy every single day. It can not be done. I for one however, stand up and salute you and the mods. Saying a huge thank you for all you do, the sacrifices you make of your time and energies to make this site the best place to pull up a stump, sit down and talk to friends and family about fishing, or to tell a joke. Having lived in the Pacific Northwest, I have experienced rude fishermen first hand. When the salmon are running up the tributaries. Guys casting across 5 or 6 other lines... I had one experience where I was fishing in a boat, for Spring Chinook. The hole was not a big place, but had about 20 boats in it. I hooked a nice fish, and was trying to fight it up to the boat, when a local guide with clients, slid alongside us, and dropped a weighted treble hook down ontop of my line and fish. Hooked my line, pulled it to his boat, and then stole my fish. He cut my lure off on top of it. I flat told him, that I carried a 44 mag. If he didnt leave immediately I would proceed to punch holes below the water line in his boat, and sink him right there. He left, rather quickly. Now I know it may not have been right.. but it was the nicest thing I could think to say at the moment.

I personally like picture 1. It would be a lot more stable to me personally than picture 2. But it is an individual thing. My balance is not as good as others so I like my decking lower.

One of my fishing buddies was having a heck of a day,, about every 5th cast, he was getting caught in the brush along the shore. After one specially horrendous cast and he wrapped around a limb about 10 ft. in the air, I turned and said, "You know that those rare and endangered tree bass are not legal to catch". He about fell out of the boat he was laughing so hard. :

Well, when you count that the Government makes more per gallon of gas than the oil companies do, and the station owner makes maybe 0.04 per gallon sold, the rest is going in someones pocket. I can only hope and pray we can drill our own reserves soon. Anwar and the Gulf of Mexico both have bigger oil reserves than Saudi does.

I do wood burning. I find it an excellent relaxing side hobby. I am not much of an artist, but i love doing it.
