The problem with the Gander Mountain near me is they down sized the fishing department. They are also slow to get any of the new products into the store. Believe it or not, I've had more success getting fishing gear at Dick's. Is it Spring yet? Falcon

SPEEDBEAD, the only thing the mussels did that I think was good was clear up the water. Lake St. Clair was always dingy water, now it's crystal clear.........that's what helped with the smallies. Grimlin, I'm not saying that the problem is going to go away any time soon, however, in the past few years, I don't have them clinging to my seawall 3"- 4'' thick like I used to, and they are not on my hull like they used to be. My fever spiked about two months ago. It's been a rough winter so far. I was cleaning and lubing my reels, and organizing my tackle around Thanksgiving, that usually doesn't happen until the first of the year. My symptoms will subside in about twenty-four hours, because I will be landing in Orlando, Fl. about this time tomorrow. I hope to fish at least two days while I'm down there. Hoping for a new PB LMB from this trip. Thanks to George Welcome. He directed me to a lake near where my wife and I are staying, and even suggested some baits to use. Thanks alot GW. I'd love to go for a ride in one of the fighter jets. I live less than a mile from Selfridge Air National Guard Base. I used to always park on the road and watch the F-16's do their touch-and-go's. Since 9-11 they don't let you park anywhere near the base. Falcon

I have an RCN40. What a great reel. It is by far the best Abu Garcia round reel I've ever fished, and I own many. I have no cons. Pros: casts light baits well, smooth as silk, 30 IPT retrieve rate. Falcon

Here in the Great Lakes we have at least two species of fish that are eating the mussels. (yellow perch and freshwater drum) They don't seem to be as much of a problem as they were in the early 90's. In the early 90's, when I took my boat out of the water at the end of the season, I would have as much as 200 Zebra Mussels attached to my hull and lower unit. This fall when I took the boat out I had six mussels on my hull. We seem to have a handle on the problem, but it took a long time. Falcon

Don't waste your time or money. I was a member for a few years. They try to draw you in, telling you that you will be "field testing" equipment like rods and reels, trolling motors, and many other high dollar items, but in four years the most expensive item I received cost about $3.00.........and it broke. It was 10-2-07 at 4:35 P.M. I caught two LMB on successive casts. The first was 1.5# the next was 2.5#. Caught them on a T-Rigged Trick Worm in watermelon. Fishing logs are nice for this reason. I hope to catch a few next week while I'm in Kissimmee, Fl. Falcon
