  1. Has anyone ever used a hook sharpener on say spinnerbaits or chatterbaits or jigs? I bought a few really nice chatterbaits for cheap at some flea market but the hooks are not in the best condition. I've never used one so i'm not sure how good they work if at all. Maybe someone can weigh in.
  2. Throwing a rage tail shad, this lure is hard to beat, nothing ive ever thrown catches as big as fish, the seeing the blowups is always an amazing time.
  3. This looks like a nice frog. I'll be trying one out.
  4. Thanks everyone for the responses. I do like that falcon jig/spinnerbait box.
  5. Good point i never thought about that, but it makes perfect sense now
  6. Whats up BR? Over the last year my jig collection has grown quite a bit and I was wondering how all of you store and manage yuur jigs. Basically, what iv'e noticed happening is that when the jigs pile up on top of one another, they start to lose strands and get some wear and tear business going on. Some of my recent purchases of jigs Im really trying to take care of (siebert outdoors) and was wondering if you guys have any certain tactics of keeping your jigs in good shape. Below is a picture of my jigs. My small siebert collection so far are in the bags on the right.
  7. I could never do it, after setting hooks into the mouth, taking them for rides in the boat, putting them on the scales and interfearing with their natural way of life. I feel guilty enough as it is.
  8. I wouldn't use braid to fluro whe power fishing, everything about that scenario just sounds bad. Try out some Yo-zuri hybrid, the breaking strength on this line is way past its diameter, its very low in stretch and abrasion resistance also. It is also UV resistant, and you can feel your bait working good. For the jig rod and frogging yes stay with the braid.
  9. Has anyone used this? was reading the catalog lastnight and saw that its woven 8 times which is equivalent to sunline weave. Also I know their flurocarbon is pretty d**n high quality because I've used and and vandam loves it also. The price is pretty good somthing like 20$ for 200 some yards.
  10. wow arbogast marketing is pretty bad lol
  11. chatter type baits i find work best in dirty water situations where visibility is low. I clear water you want to abuse the fishes ability to see a lot of flash, which mimicks baitfish. I suggest you watch KVD's spinnerbait DVD. Its amazing.
  12. Gold bling? What? When did strike king introduce this color thats awesome Edit: I don'ty even see gold bling on the strike king website color selection...has to be fake?
  13. Ok thanks. and sorry for the loss
  14. few days ago i started a thread called "non bulky jig trailers" in the fishing tackle forum. I can't find it now via my content or on the forum i posted it in. Anyone know why it was deleted or what happened to it? thanks -Mike
  15. So today I went out and put my PQ on it and it felt great. I pulled on the line a lot to test the flexibility of the tip and it bends great. I dont understand how someone could snap one of these rods. I dont use a whole lot of braid anyway so that shouldn't be a problem for me. Cant wait till next year!
  16. I have a 7"6 MH for pitching 1/4 -3/8 ounce soft plastics and jigs and I like it alot. I usually dont miss a bite especially if im fishing with a tungsten weight. Its not incredibly light but I do believe its one of the lightest and most sensitive for the price range. In my opinion buy it.
  17. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2096314/Meet-HEARTLESS-man-able-live-heartbeat-PULSE.html This blew my mind. A year old but still pretty epic.
  18. yes i did just this...i checked the action of the tip and bent the rod around some...seems to be fine
  19. Went to my local wal-mart tonight to pick up a few necesseties and decided to take a stroll down the fishing section. Picked up a Tessera 7"2 jig/worm on sale for $54. I inspected the guides etc, everyhting looked fine. I needed a jig rod for this coming year anyway as its something I need to learn and I always want to have one tied on. Anyways I know its not the best rod on the market and a lot of people arent too fond of them, but I own the spinnerbait/worm rod and I have to say i absolutely love it. The rod loads up nice when I do a sweep set with my spinnerbaits. I've never fished it with a worm yet and dont intend to. Mostly i throw 1/4 -3/8 ounce spinnerbaits and chatterbaits on it and never had a fish throw the hook yet, and the rod is pretty light. Anyways if you were thinking about trying this/these rods stop by your local wal-mart they might have some on sale. -Mike
  20. Usually if there's breaks or tears in them I use mend it. Mend-it goes a pretty long way.
  21. Really hoping for Siebert Outdoors to have one! These jigs are just sick.
  22. No they aren't worth the money. They are more of and have always been at their best at catching anglers - not just fish. If you wish to spend money on 4 new lures instead of a new rod then so be it.
  23. What are some of the things youll do to keep you busy this winter? It dosen't have to be fishing related. I know ill be preparing my tackle for the upcoming season but I will also be in the gym building strength and trying to put on some muscle. And ill be trying to make as much money as possible! So when spring comes I have money for fun fun fun. How about you guys?
