  1. OK guys you all been very helpful. I purchased a Live Target in Shad frog Color and a booyah pad crasher in brown/yellowish pattern. Im also gonna try out the strike king sexy frog on next *** order Ill let you know how I did in the T
  2. Keep em coming!
  3. Ok guys ill be fishing a tournament in a dew weeks and I know ill be frogging. What im looking for: 1. Super-soft body 2. great hook up ratio 3. Lifelike appearance 4. Around $10.00 which frog am i buying you tell me
  4. St Croix Avid 7" MH F imo only because u mentioned spooks and plugs otherwise id get a 7" M
  5. wow Fish Chris your still alive Havent seen you in a long time
  6. Its not really about the color. Its more the profile and action resembling a crawfsh. I've never fished black in clear water but in dirty water you want a really dark hue so its easier for them to see and zero in on. Plus when fish see a color thats a lot different from what their eating it can draw a reaction strike.
  7. Do you guys use any modifications to help improve the hook-up ratio on frogs? I remember reading and seeing a picture in a bass magazine where there was about a 3/0 ewg hook coming out of the back of the frog riding on top and it was tied to the eye of the hook, has anyone done this? Also how to the double frog hooks hold up on soft plastic frogs? Do the two hooks actually improve hook-up ratio. I have an important tournament coming up and I know for sure ill be frogging. Thanks -Mike
  8. I second the pit boss, great action and vibration, however when its colder I may throw a wooly bug or a regular beaver instead to kill some of the action and match the mood of the fish
  9. How many people out there net their own fish while out alone? I dont even carry a net yet but I fish tournaments that allow it. But it sometimes seems you might lose the fish easier to me if you grabbing for somthing taking your hand off the rod and etc. Should I get one or what? Theres somthing about that feeling of grabbing a bass by the lip by the boat like the pros, but somthing tells me it could get tricky with cranks.
  10. My dad hooked in 30 bass the other day on these. Apparently bps sent him a free bag so he brought them and he had the 3.5 inch version rigged on 8lb test with a 1/8 ounce split shot above it. He was catching some big ones too. The small one gets a lot of bites
  11. I had one about 2 years ago I had in a 33 gallon tank. I caught him in a pond down the street he was only about 10 inches long. I fed him night crawlers every day and he loved them, I couldnt even put the worm in the water before he tried ripping it from my hands, it was pretty neat
  12. Id never do this, its great to hear when fish or shad pop on the surface around you and I think the noise of nature also helps give clues to figuring out a pattern. But music is definitely in my ear alot when im not on the water. -Mike
  13. I been throwing the berkley havoc pit boss quite a lot. Its been getting a lot of bites and the action is freaking awesome. For $3.00 a bag you cant beat it
  14. Hey when we went down we decided it was a little too far for my boat to run. Tommorow ill be fishing at the tournament with my club. When i was down last week we stayed in the north east and fished some docks and bulkheads without a hit. The fish must all be out at the flats because they are catching them like crazy down there. Anyway thanks for the map. Im fishing with my club president who has a bigger boat and were going to the grass.
  15. I live in Jersey where the snot rockets are found in almost every fishery. And i can sure tell you.....it dosent matter what your throwing, they pretty much hit anyhting.
  16. This sort of dosent make sense since a high speed reel gets more inches per turn than a low speed reel??? .................................
  17. Whats going on guys? I'd like to chat with you Maryland natives some about the NorthEast River. Ive been watching some youtube videos with deleware valley outdoors and doing some research and it seems theres some good man-made structure to be worked along the northeast. As well as a few coves with some grass that produce nice fish. My club has a tournament there next thursday on 5/16 and im going down there tommorow with my boat to get a look at a few things and see how far ill beable to go with a 10 horse motor. Ill be launching out of anchor marine. My goal tommorow is to run down to furnace cove but somthing tells me this might be a little far for a 10hp motor. What do oyu guys think? Id love to learn some about the fishery. -Mike
  18. I dont get why you need a low gear ratio for cranking? Whats the ideaology behind this? Do high speed reels force you to turn the handle more and have greater resistance or somthing?
  19. Chceck this thread out! Good luck
  20. Ok I see it now but google had no results...strange
  21. This was a good book but a lot of the techniques etc they explain need a bit of updating.
  22. Was watching this video on the Alberto Knot for braid to mono/fluro. According to *** article pretty much everyone on tour is using it because its small and you obviously have no line twist. I did a search on this "top secret SX1 braid and did not get any results? Apparently the pros are using it on tour but how? and when and where can I get some? Is it a hybrid line or what? Anyway if you haven't seen this video check it out. -Mike
