  2. Ok thanks a lot Glenn. Will do
  3. Hello everyone for those of you who dont know me im "White Mike" from New Jersey im currently 21 and working right now. Jersey isn't ecactly the bass fishing capitol of the US and quite frankly there arent too many jobs around here that entail doing somthing with fresh water fishing especially bass. My ultimate goal of course is to go on tour one day and fish tournaments but its definitely a far road ahead. Meanwhile while I am building skills and learning more I would at least like to have an occupation in the fishing industry. But how can i get connected if its really not that big up here? If anyone has ever heard the saying "You should love what you do for a living" I believe thats very true and I would love to get up every morning knowing I could either help people or do something that involves fishing. If anyone has any suggestions or advice on how to get started doing this please discuss. Thanks a lot -Mike
  4. Pointer hands down
  5. LC Sammy has been a proven bait for me, IMO its the best stickwalking bait on the market.
  6. LOL, Sir? I'm not that much older than you sonny boy!!! Thanks man, appreciate the info. Gee! I couldve sworn the picture in your avatar was you ! :
  7. Yes that is right sir. The Helix Buzz is awesome when the water is dead calm! It has a silent squeaking noise to it and bass KILL IT!
  8. Nice review Redline. Ive been using fishbelly baits for about a year and a half now. I really like the buzzbait and the soft jerkbaits they have. Good lures and they seem to fool pressured bass pretty well. Thanks for the review! I definately have to get some of the poppers soon too. P.S. For anyone interested the CEO of FishBelly is at the fishing expo in Tamonium, Maryland every year. Ive got the chance to speak with him a few times...great guy. At his booth you can find all their products with deals like 4 packs for 20$ etc. -wm
  9. Hi , BassFishingMachine...My father lives in Medford Nj around the medford lakes area. We fished them one night(several different ponds) that had signs stating Pesticide Treated Water. We caught some very nice fish on buzzbaits and worms ignoring the fact. Anyways, for one...the locals are very foolish for spraying this late in the year as the weeds will be dieing soon anyway, thats actually a shame. Im not sure how bad pesticide treatment affects bass behavior but what you and i both know is that the bass haven't gone too far as long as you dont see them floating on the surface. If your not getting bites I would recommend downsizing to finesse worms, 4 inch senkos, etc and fish tightly to any cover/structure you can find. p.s what lake and town is this?
  10. I Agree with shad master. Dont forget its fall time now, if the senko is not producing I would tie on a double willow leaf spinnerbait(depending on water clarity) and bring it right through all those half dead pads. reaction baits are key in fall because fish are targeting mostly baitfish. If nothing happens in the pads with a variety of different baits I would head out to the main lake and look for baitfish activity. -wm
  11. Jann's netcraft is a site dedicated to lure building..Im sure they have some feathers floating around there somewhere.
  12. The SPRO Bronzeye frog is very popular so I would suggest to maybe try something different. For example instead of trying to find factory legs, maybe go with a feather. Feathers "breathe" in the water which is the same reason Rapala has feather dressed trebles on their x-raps. Or maybe you could rip some strands off of your tubes and glue them together with mend-it or something similar. It could pay off to give them something theyve never seen before on heavily fished waters. Tight Lines
  13. One of my favorite lakes to fish is a lake with a lot of deep wood and deep points with a depth visibility of about 6-8 feet with glasses on. My favorite baits to throw in this lake are deep crankbaits, Shakey worms, texas rigged worms with a heavy weight and of course a drop shot. Tomorrow I will be giving carolina rigging a try in the deeper areas as well as the rigs mentioned above and was wondering what are some of your go-2 baits for this method? Im going to be targeting some bigger fish so I'm thinking about bulking up my bait a bit without making it look too unnatural...I'm thinking since the bait will be fished in anywhere from 15-25 foot of water. i was going to throw either a lizard or a berkley superhog to give off more vibrations to make it easier to zone in on..would you agree? P.S I remember reading an article where shaw grisby said he catches the majority of his carolina rig bass on lizards..he said the bass seem to like the lizards more but he does not know why Just a word to the wise So any tips? Thanks guys
  14. So as I was reading in a book about a day ago I remember: "Lakes that stratify will form a thermocline" First, do thermoclines happen on every lake? How does this affect the fishing? Fish above it ? or under it? I also read a lot about pros seeing the thermocline on their depthfinder and fishing it accordingly, Ive looked for this and never found it, maybe because there is no thermocline in the lakes I fish? The deepest lake I fish regularly is about 140 acres in size. It is an old sand mine pit that has a lot of deep points and standing timber, the deepest depth ive registered so far was 37 feet. Does this lake have a thermocline? Thanks -Mike
  15. I agree that the yamamato Kut-Tail worm is very productive with sight fishing. Yesterday I was at my local pond and I spotted a couple nice 2lb bass hanging around in this small pocket...I threw 3 different things at them before they finally took it...one was a berkley sabertail grub on a small jighead...they both nuged it a dew timesbut did not eat it....the next was a 3inch berkley grub..and finally I tried the 4 inch finesse yamamato kut-tail worm laced with a bit of megastrike and when i paused the bait he inhaled it like no other
  16. Tahnks everyone.. Ps.s brent..is this the stuff you use on your baits?
  17. The original hybrid seems to have a bit more flurocarbon in it than the ultra soft.... But either way make sure you use ultra-soft on your spinning tackle or you will suffer dearly
  18. Ok so I'm Looking for some anise oil to buy to keep my baits "slick", have them come through grass easier, and to mask any unwanted scents. If anyone uses this im looking for what type to buy and also looking to get the most for my money! help me out!
  19. can anyone else please leave some feedback
  20. Thanks a lot Ben, your tournament shirt looks familiar were you at the expo in timonium? I am definately gonna look into this rod
  21. OK so I want so buy a rod specifically for cranking, I would like to have a crankbait tied on this rod at all times weather it be deep, mid depth or shallow. Ive heard a lot of good feedback about the BPS cranking rods, just for the record how light are they? Are they sensitive? Im also going to need a reel. I would like the reel to be light and as low profile as possible, i guess my budget is around 150-200$ Also what gear ratio would you recommend? Any feedback is greatly appreciated If there is any reel of rod combo you suggest feel free to share. Thanks -wm P.S. When i searched "crankbait rod" at basspro they only one i see that actually made by bps is the rick clun series rods, is this the same rod as least years?
  22. Gimmick. Come on guys? Coffee? Its an angler attractant not fish, they want your money. All of us have caught fish with tubes laced with megastrike or any other scent, why buy something that hasn't stood the test of time. You should never question weather or not a bait will work when throwing it, go with what you know works.
