  2. You should see my 2 crankbait boxes
  3. isnt it terrible? I spent 200$ in the past week an a half...but the BPS Johnny Morris reel i just got is crazy nice, hasnt even hit the water yet
  4. thats a lot for me!!!! im a college student!! lol
  5. yep....he gets 50$ richer!! baitmonkey is up there with donald trump and bill gates now
  6. Bass pro shops has a great deal going on right now with their Johnny Morris reels, I own a pro qualifier and love it.. this one is a step up from the PQ just ordered the johnny morris reel on sale...you cant beat the quality for the price http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops-Johnny-Morris-CarbonLite-Baitcast-Reels/product/1110020501438/
  7. Weightless with a 4/0 ewg hook, if you want longer casts for whatever reason use a 4-0 keel weighted swimbait hook, in this scenaro it can also be fished as a swimbait slightly under the surface, ive had a lot of strikes with this as well Make sure you vary your retrives if your not getting bit, sometimes they want it slower or faster depending on conditions The thing you need to understand about this bait is that its a BIG FISH bait. All my biggest fish this year came on a rage tail shad. Also for some reason even though this bait is a topwater, i get bit a lot when the sun is out on it also. Just dont be afraid to throw it whenever you feel like catching a big bass. -Mike
  8. Im gonna have to grab a few of these
  9. This happened to me a lot this spring, theres probably 50000 different approaches you can take when something likes this happens, most of the time I just keep casting with the crankbait, if he dosent hit it again, ill most likely slow down and go at him with a worm, and if that fails, ill leave the area alone for an hour then go back depending on how big the fish was
  10. #1 lead head of the jig is too big #2 weedguard and jig itself too bulky
  11. Snap for what?
  12. I really love the Cranky M by River2sea and had much success on it at all times during the year. Also a huge fan of the Rapala Crankin Rap and the KVD cranks are nice also. As for catching fish on them you really need off-color water or some type of wind and or overcast is always great. When its dead calm and sunny I most likely wont be cranking. -Mike
  13. Black shad was always my favortie color in the 7.5 inch...love those worms
  14. I think the Rage Tail Shad must be my favorite lure of all time, fishes like a buzzbait, kill it on the retrive and let it sit, bring it over pads/scum, slowly wake it..DYNAMITE!
  15. What are some of your favorite baits for flipping/pitching the lilly pads? This year I used a Berkley Havoc Slop craw paired with a punch skirt that I trimmed to make less bulky, I caught some decent fish with this bait. I have yet to experiment with Ik'es devil spear but will be ordering some off TW, but it looks like a great bait for getting in and out of holes, just what it was designed for. And when I say pads I mean fairly shallow 3-5 feet of water.
  16. Thanks all for your input and replies. I been looking at the Shimano Clarus crankbait rod. From what I've read thus far a lot of people really love this rod for the price, and I love the split grip handle and the design.
  17. is it a composite or full graphite? I dont necessarily believe sensitivity is all that important when cranking, many times i rip the bait out of the fishes mouth with my premier 6'6 medium F...I think its best for me to go glass or some type of compositie bps cranking stick would be great, but the grip is somewhat crappy imo
  18. Thanks ghoti, i actually have some avid series rods already but ive become a huge fan of the newver split-grip style of rods, my hands are somewhat smaller anyway so it allows me to handle the rod much better this way, the cork seems to be a bit too bulky on my 7 MH avid -mike
  19. Hey all. Im looking for some lines of technique spefici rods for around 100-200$ in price. What I need for next year: Crankbait rod for lipless crankbait/medium diving/deep crankbaits Drop shot rod Thats pretty much it...spinnerbaits/pitching/flipping im pretty good on Lines i know of: Skeet St.croix mojo bass Edit: I know the KVD Tour rods are on sale right now at *** for around 100$ before shipping....do you think i should grab one for crankin? has anyone had any experience with these rods?
  20. what ever happened to these? the sticky thread is outdated and the lniks dont work
  21. Either just put them in zip lock bags or in a regular plano box. If your worried about them losing the slick feel buy some anise oil or spray them with scent
  22. this probably seems like the most easy and effective method ..ill give this a try thanks everyone
  23. So basically i have a few white spinnerbaits with red painted on eyes and yellow painted on eyes that look somewhat unappealing to me. I want the entire bait to be white...what suggestions do you have for going over the original paint? White-out maybe? I just want to go over these ugly eyes any suggestions helpful -MIke
  24. Um...I already knew what lure id be using....a frog.....its called getting opinions and which forgs people like best because I don't have enough time or money to order every brand and try them all out. Thanks for your reply you added a lot to the discussion.
