Play off predictions
Updated the topic with the current standings, @Gundog is in the lead and 5-1, with a pack of 4-2s behind him. Picking the patriots to win the Superbowl, which was also my pick to win the SB at the beginning of the year

(Un)official Hoosiers Thread
Had a chance to meet back up with my team from last years tournaments at a fishing show/seminars, we (our team was 1st in the state) were invited to do a short talk explaining how our year went and how we caught our fish in the state championship, which was kind of cool. Then afterwards I got to talk with Brent Ehler for a bit which topped things off. Really down to earth guy, just seemed like a regular nice guy who happens to be an awesome fisherman. Had a fun day, and looking forward to hopefully doing even better this year! BTW, can't wait till this ice comes off. Haven't had my boat out in 5 weeks and three days, not that I'm counting or anything...

I got the Patriots and the Eagles, but the Vikes might/probably will surprise me.

What lure caught your biggest bass in 2017 ?
6.7 pound largemouth on a vision 110, followed by a 6.5 (also on the vision 110) two casts later Can't remember exactly what my biggest smallie weighed, but it was about 5 or just under if I remember right. Caught her burning a 1/4 ounce ratt-l-trap.

IMO, his targeted population is the inexperienced fishermen who don't realize they are getting ripped off, people who buy clothing, and non-fishermen buying gifts for fishermen.

Your Favorite Spinnerbait
I'm not much of a spinnerbait guy, the only time I throw one is when the water looks like chocolate milk. So my favorite would be Fat Sack tackle's thump-em up Colorado blade spinnerbait. 1/2 ounce is about perfect most of the time with it's freakishly large Colorado blade, that thing is bigger than an Eisenhower dollar coin. Only spinnerbait that I really use anymore.

I haven't bought anything from basspro since the first year I started bass fishing. Tw, ffo, and another site get most all of my business. Except for some of Dicks flash sales, I'm always falling for those..

I like how you implied that we are not normal people.

Bell seemed to do well when he ran it up the middle, not so much around the outside.

Play off predictions
That was some finish to the viking/saints game! Anyway, I updated the topic with everyone's record. Rough picks all-around, no-one picked all 4 winning teams. And I might as well have used the dart board method...

Welp, that did not go well. Highly, highly questionable coaching decisions by the steelers (and officiating for that matter) did not help them. My predictions are currently on the nth level of sucking lol

Favourite frog
Junior Pad crasher and their popping pad crasher. Wish booyah made a junior popping pad crasher, that would be a killer.

Favourite Squarebill Crankbait
I fish areas where my squarebills have to be very shallow running to stay above the snot grass, so my favorites reflect that. For my area my top 3 would have to be the Bandit 100, KVD 1.0, and the Spro baby fat john 50. Also like the LC cbds 0, baby 1-, and lc skt. I keep colors simple, something chartreuse in murkier water and something shad in clearer.

What would you really want as a gift?
He might have been better off committing suicide than doing that

6'6" MH-F casting rod for top water frogs
I see what you mean, and you are correct that the longer rods make it easier to pull them up and out, because of the fact that you can move the bass farther faster with the same hand motion and a higher point of pull. I was talking about true leverage though, but yeah I see what you are talking about, though it is different.

Recommendations on a shallow jerkbait?
Rapala x-rap. BTW, my favorite all-around jerkbait is also the vision 110

6'6" MH-F casting rod for top water frogs
No offence, but a longer rod does not mean more leverage. Just the opposite in fact, the more distance between your hand on the rod (think fulcrum) and the rod's tip, the more leverage the bass has. You can move more line faster with a longer rod, but that's different than leverage.

Play off predictions
Alright, I've got all your predictions down on paper now. Looking forward to the games, should be some good ones. But they won't be anything compared to the Steelers/Patriots (hint hint) shootout next weekend.

Do I Need a Froggin' Rod?
It isn't to bad, unless I'm skipping I almost never backlash (not including very minor overruns) with frogs. And 90% of the time, what looks like a bad backlash comes out by just pulling line off of the reel with braid. Much less likely to damage itself when pulling out a backlash when compared to mono or flouro also.

Do I Need a Froggin' Rod?
That rod will work for frogs and light to mid punching, but the line won't. Mono stretches to much and isn't strong enough for winching (and controlling) big bass out of slop and setting beefy frog hooks into their strong jaws. You're definitely going to have to swap that over to heavy braid in the 50+ range depending on how heavy of slop you will be fishing in. All around line for frogging, punching, c-rigs, and jigs would IMHO be 50 pound braid with or without a leader on jigs and c-rigging.

Anyone else?

Play off predictions
I'll go Patriots, Steelers, Vikings, and Falcons. My confidence is in that order to, not so sure about the eagle/falcon game. Could be a good one. BTW, I'll right down everyone's predictions tonight so no-one can edit the winners in

Ned Rig Spinning Reel Size ?
One word: BRAID. Oh, and just about any spinning reel size will work, with larger reels (obviously) casting farther but smaller reels being lighter and more comfortable. I think I have a 30 size pfluegar president on my ned rod, but even a tiny 20 will work.
