  1. Bill lowen is from green castle Indiana. And Jacob wheeler is in my lineup
  2. Thought this would be something fun to do when its cold and raining outside. How about for each of the remaining weeks of play offs (and the Superbowl) everyone guesses and lists in this thread who they think will be the winner of each game, and you get a point for each game winner you have right. After the Superbowl, we tally up the points and the highest points wins. Have to get your predictions in by Friday night obviously. Anyone in? Here's the current records, noone got all 4 games right: gundog at 5-1 Nfloridamike at 4-2 Steveo at 3-3 Sam at 4-2 Oboyitsrobby at 3-3 Darren at 3-1 Bassnjake at 2-4 Dearre at 2-2 Indianafinesse at 4-2 Nywayfarer at 4-2 Jbsoonerfan at ***
  3. I always use 2 hand to cast, and I don't even have any elbow or shoulder issues. Just feels more natural, gets better distance (for me), and keeps the rod more secure from the possibility of an embarrassing mistake of casting my rod into the water...
  4. Heck, some days I have to catch 40 to break 30 pounds
  5. I don't do a lot of slider fishing, but I do fish a ned rig similarly somewhat often. I usually use a combination of reeling speed and counting down, depending on how deep of water I'm targeting. If I'm keeping it within a couple feet of the bottom, I like to let it sink all the way before beginning the retrieve because they often pick it up off the bottom on the initial drop. But if I'm keeping it much higher, say 4+ feet off the bottom I'll just count it down to that depth. Use jighead weight and sometimes the bait's natural lift to help control depth also.
  6. I hope to be there for one of Jacob's appearances, but I'll have to wait and see what my schedule looks like then. BTW, we've got 9 inches of ice here, but I and everyone else on the lake can't seem to figure the fish out. Tons of guys out on the ice, but they all say the same thing, that they're either catching nothing at all or a few little gills. Best day yet was 13 tiny bluegill and pumpkinseed between 4-7 inches. It's bad when you're excited over catching a bait-sized fish.
  7. I'm not usually a fan of completely revamping a team, but I think that may be the bronco's only chance at another super bowl run now.
  8. I feel bad for you.
  9. When I was out ice fishing the other day the high was 0 and the real feel at the high was -15, so does that put me in the insane category? Got down to -20 real feel by the time I was off of the ice. Didn't even catch anything though
  10. I noticed that you caught most of your bass on the same baits each year, and in a lake that small, they'd have to be getting accustomed to and wary of the same lures that they have already seen and perhaps caught on. Try mixing it up a little this year.
  11. Haven't hit 100 in one day yet (bass anyways), but I did get 99 once last year. I fish about 240-260 days a year (mostly shorter 2-4 hour trips) which makes a larger than average number of fish very attainable. Finesse helps to
  12. That was the worst part, I didn't even get any fish out of it. First skunk ever in memory. Still good to get out, even though the fishing was terrible and it was frigid outside. One of the few times I wished I had a little pop-up shelter or something.
  13. Today's high was 0 here, with a wind chill of -18. Didn't stop me from freezing my butt off over a hole in the ice though
  14. 4,627 total fish, mostly largemouth, but also some other species as well. I also caught 4 of my top 5 biggest bass this year, and my pb flathead of 45 pounds, on an 8 pound mono leader no less.
  15. Ice fishing, reorganizing my fishing tackle at least half a dozen times, watching videos and reading articles until that makes me sick for fishing (it's almost like an addictive drug, makes me feel better for a little bit and then makes me want it even more) and giving my poor boat a clean out. Those of you that know me or have fished with me know I am not a clean boat person, and my boat is a complete disaster by December, so this takes a while.
  16. I'm in again, and this time around I'll write my password down on a piece of paper in the back of my Bible or something so I don't forget or lose it 3 times like last year
  17. Got 4.5" of crystal clear ice over the whole lake here, got out ice fishing but it's been strangely slow. Terrible really, I eaked out a couple but it was bad. Not completely sure why, this has been a strange late fall/winter just in general here. Clearest water that this lake has seen in many years (could have something to do with it, plus the huge amount of weed spray may have negatively effected it), and the fish have been acting very differently than normal.
  18. Supposed to be a "high" of 0° this Monday, with low of -21. Combined with winds up to 35 miles an hour, that makes for a real feel of -45 at the low to -15 or -20 at the high. I plan to be out freezing my butt off over a 6" hole in the ice
  19. That about tells the story of how such a meeting would go, except that police car could very well be replaced by a hearse.
  20. 6-8 pound high-vis braid with an 8 pound mono or flouro leader for me.
  21. I use the swim glide and shake retrieve (slowly swimming and subtlety shaking it within a foot or so of the bottom, occasionally letting it glide back down to reestablish bottom contact) 95% of the time. And yes, it works for largemouth, and every other species of fish that exists. There aren't squat for smallies around here, and it is still one of my top 2 producers every year. The smallmouth do seem to like it especially well when I get the rare opportunity to fish for them though.
  22. Jerkbaits, blade baits, drop shot, and small bucktails.
  23. True. A fair amount of questionable calls, batted down balls that were intercepted, and the like seemed to be a high in number. Made for a very entertaining game though. Gotta hand it to Bell for being as hard to tackle as he was, especially with handling the ball way more than normal once brown was out. It seemed like he was just sauntering through the pile of linemen before exploding out of the other side, or simply changing his mind and running around the outside.
  24. And a good dose of luck...
