  1. Wow, awesome day! I have yet to catch a fish in '07. The rain caused some issues in my yard that have added to my already insurmountable honey-do list but I'm hoping to get out for a few hours this Wednesday. Hopefully I'll be able to post some results.
  2. I've had good luck from the shore there but the better spots require some trekking through the bramble and yeah, the skeeters can be fierce. I'm looking forward to getting on it with my kayak to hit some of the spots that are otherwise inaccessible. How was the access road? Still rough? Traffic is pretty screwy in Wilton with 101 closed due to that little landslide from the storm but hopefully that will be resolved in the next few days. Yep, that's it.

  4. Wow! That would be three nice fish around here. Good for you Chris, keep sticking 'em. Can't wait for your post titled "New World Record".
  5. I believe you're talking about Naticook Lake. I spent a couple of hours shore fishing there late last year. Lots of weeds where I was but it looks like a decent spot. I've heard mixed reviews but will definitely visit it again this year. '>http://www.wildlife.state.nh.us/Fishing/bathy_maps/naticook_merrimack.pdf
  6. Senkos, tubes, cranks and jigs (in that order) have all worked very well for me there. Good luck and let us know how you make out.
  7. "the resevoir is on a road that is not maintained during the winter called sand hill road" That's it. After the center of Wilton take the left at the PD and bear right up the hill. Follow that road for a mile +/- and keep an eye out for Sand Hill on your right. Dirt road that has some deep ruts right now so I'd go with something that has some decent ground clearance.
  8. ;D I hear ya Walkingboss. Welcome aboard baboosic. The Wilton reservoir is about 5 minutes from "downtown" Wilton. I'm hoping to get out there or onto Potanipo tomorrow. I can get there blindfolded but couldn't give you street names if my life depended on it. I'll make note of the directions and post them for you.
  9. Well put. Save the hawgs!
  10. So is there any parking near a launch at Canobie or at least a spot where you could slide in a couple of kayaks? I've heard of towns that have sneaky regs like this but haven't encountered it in my area before.
  11. I got nearly a foot. I don't understand? >
  12. How is Melendy Pond? I've never fished it.
  13. Nice! Glad you guys had such a good outing. I'm hoping Thursday's not too damp because rain or shine I'm getting back out. I hear Potanipo is pretty much open...bassin13, is this accurate? I've only spent a couple of hours shore fishing Naticook and haven't done Baboosic but have heard mixed reviews on both of them. Oh yeah, welcome abord Walkingboss!
  14. The reservoir was still frozen the other day but I can't wait for it to open up. It's one of my favorite spots because of the reasons you mentioned plus it's got good shore fishing along most of it and it's practically next door to me. I can't wait to get on it with my kayak and get to some of the spots that I haven't been able to reach from shore. Got skunked today on Honey Pot in Amherst. Small pond but supposedly holds some nice fish. :-/ Oh well, the season is very young and it was just good to get out and get some casts and break in the new yak.
  15. Welcome aboard bassin13! I've fished Potanipo once and only managed a couple of dinks but I've heard that there's some fatties in there. I plan on visiting it again this year since it's only about 10 minutes from me. Have you been out yet this year? Most of what I've seen is still iced in but there's a few places that are open. I'm heading out tomorrow and lPa1nl was planning to as well so hopefully some good reports are forthcoming.
  16. I picked up my new kayak today after weeks of homework and shopping around. I went with a 14' Old Town Dirigo that seems to be the perfect combination of size, stability and maneuverability for the waters I'll be fishing. I looked at a few SOT yaks but felt a little too exposed to comfortable on them. With a couple of rod holders and an anchor kit that I'll be adding this weekend the only thing missing is open water. d**n those senkos and the fish who love them! I fell back on them more times than I can count last year. I'm determined to make this season the year of the jig.
  18. Nice fish man! Hope I stick some that size this season.
  19. I'm planning to take a look at the Wilton reservoir tomorrow but it'll probably look just like Canobie did when I swung by it on my way home this afternoon. I'm picking up my new kayak this weekend and that'll just make the itch even worse but hopefully I can stay focussed and chip away at my honey-do list to make more time for what really matters once things open up. You said it best lPa "MELT d**n YOU MELT!!! "
  20. I agree with and practice catch and release but it's hard to argue with muddy man's logic. If I ever catch a potential record or even just a real pig (yeah, I sometimes daydream ) whether or not to throw her back wouldn't be an easy decision.
  21. Green pumpkin w/ red flake senko.
  22. Nice smallies!
  23. Yeah, things are definitely softening up around here too. If the temps will stay up and the snow would quit we should be in good shape soon. I'm hanging in there!
  24. I feel your pain. :'(
