  1. I use alot of YUM, GYCB, Zoom and Berkley Powerbait with good results. But Gulp just isn't my kinda stuff.
  2. The hook im using is a size 4/0 Gamakatsu Offset EWG hook. Hey can you post a link to the insert weights you guys are talking about?
  3. Hey I just started using this softbait alot more and Ive noticed sometimes it darts close to the top, and other times it darts in the middle. I just wanted to know if there is a way of controling where it darts to. I was trying to get it to dart in the middle, but it kept dartin on the top, and then every now and then I managed to get it in the middle. Is there a way to control where it darts? Or is it just a random action? How do you keep it on top? And how do you keep it down lower?
  4. I tryed it and never had much luck with it. Its very very quiet and kicks up a small amount of water compared to other buzzbaits. Atleast for me it seemed.. Also it was very slow in the water which is good in my book, but I didn't like the quietness/little water dispersion. Although now thinking about it, Ive only tryed the smaller version, I forget the size.. but the smallest they got. So I really couldn't tell you how the larger sizes work/act.
  5. Hmm well this probably doesn't help you but I thought I'd add it just incase. GYCB has this color for there senkos, and someone told me they kill em with it. So thats two people talking about this color now... I might have to give this color a shot .
  6. 40 dollars is a bit much for me hah. Why can't he just give me the things in a little bag without all the cds, and pretty box and charge 8 bucks tops?, like the rest of the softbait companies. I guarantee if he did that he'd get alot more sales.
  7. Haha Avid, Barely Legal Vixen, thats a good one .
  8. I seem to be changing from using Senkos, Weightless t-rigged Creatures, Fat ikas, and topwaters, to using Jigs, flipping baits, and spinnerbaits. I think I get alot more quality fish using jigs and flipping pegged bullet weight softbaits into cover then with the senkos/ikas. I feel I can always go back to the senkos and ikas any time I want and I am trying to put them into a category of when to pull them out. I think if I can learn to use every technique, and a huge variety of different baits I can put them all into categorys of when to use them. And once I have mastered all the techniques, and have them all imprented in my mind when to be used, I believe then I will be just as good as the pros . But thats gonna take alot of time mastering all those baits/techniques, so it'll be awhile before you see me on tv or in any bass magazines ;D. But moving on to new baits and techniques is all the better imo, once you learn how and when to use a bait you don't forget it, so learnin all the baits you can is definetly an advantage, never look at change as a bad thing, the originals are always there for the grabbing .
  9. I do pretty well with the x-rap, but I only fish jerkbaits during the colder months, don't know why thats just a rule of thumb for me. As a retrieve I just do the standard jerk jerk pause, jerk jerk jerk pause, etc.
  10. I like Booyah Spinnerbaits, willow leaf blade, in White/chartruese, or White, size would have to be 1/4oz and maybe a little smaller.. The only problem is there not too durable and will sometimes bend after a few good fish, but they definetly catch fish. I just bend em right back into shape again and there as good as new so no biggie.
  11. What paddle tail bait are you guys talking about? :-?
  12. I personally don't like this stuff. I feel it is overpriced and not worth the money they charge for it. The only thing they make that works decently for me is their nightcrawler but it aint no GYCB Kut-tail, that works alot better for me, and there both similiar prices. I just feel all of the baits they make there is a better counter part of it. For example, there senko knock off, doesn't compete with YUM's or the original GYCB. I just never really liked them, action of the bait is what gets the hit in my opinion, the scent is what takes effect after the hit, and Gulp, doesn't have as good of action as the rest of the softbait companys, so what good is scent without action. Again this is all just my opinion, what can I say.. Ive spent some money on these baits thinking they'd be better if I bought a different type or a different bag, and it was always the same crap. (Although for saltwater my opinion completely changes on this stuff, it does work amazing in saltwater, I will give it that, but they should keep it out of freshwater.)
  13. I have been flipping jigs into cover such as lillypads, stickpiles, weeds etc, and Ive been catching some nice fish like this. But this just made me think of what else makes a good flipping bait. I was thinking of maybe trying a GYCB Kreature pegged with a bullet weight. What flipping baits work well for you other then jigs?
  14. Everywhere you fish always has amazing cover, and just looks incredible... Your too lucky :-/.
  15. And you just fish it with a steady retrieve like a spinnerbait? No pauses like you would a regular senko?
  16. Im a EWG user, but I use Offsets on my "fin-s" type baits, like super flukes etc.
  17. Wow, I always though with a heavy size like that a bass would have trouble picking it up, Ive been using 1/16 ounce, 3/16 ounce, and 5/16 ounce. Hah
  18. I have been using YUM Spray in Crawfish scent on my jigs (don't know if im catching fish due to the spray, but there defenitely hittin my jig), and MegaStrike on my softbaits. I don't know what it is about the YUM Spray but when a drop of that stuff hits the water, it moves everything near it, like a shockwave going through the water. Wonder what it is.
  19. I made a order on basspro and bought 6 booyah baby boo jigs in 5/16 ounce, and some paca trailers and a new booyah spinner, and a rapala shad rap, and 3 War Eagle jigs. The only problem is I really didn't want the booyah jigs in 5/16 ounce, I ment to order them in 3/16 ounce >. I mean I can still put 5/16 ounce to use by using it to break through pads/weeds, but 3/16 is what I normaly throw. So now I have to make another order and get them in 3/16 ounce. And you know its impossible to make a order and just buy 1 thing, ah but w/e money is ment to be spent.
  20. Im a Booyah man ;D. Just nothin like sayin BOOYAH! after you pull a fish outta the water on a Booyah bait. Booyah! Say it Loud Say it Proud!
  21. Ok nice, got some great suggestions on jig trailers, now I want to change the post up a bit instead of creatin a new one, what ounce jigs do you guys usually go with as a standard?
  22. I was thinking of some ideas of using some creature baits and trimming them a bit and seeing if theyd make a great jig trailer. So far Ive trimmed a Zoom Super Hog, cut the leaf like limbs through the middle so they were more like claws, and did the same to the 2nd pair of leaf like claws pretruding from the sides, I also removed the funny arms on the upper portion of the super hog and cut the body a little smaller so it would fit better on a jig. Another I trimmed was a Yum Wooly Bug, also cut the leaf like limb down the middle, and it already has small arm like claws pretruding from the sides which I left be, and then cut the body to fit better on a jig. Any of you guys have any ideas like these that you've tested and had good results?
  23. How you fishing the Swim Senko? I have a pack but I heard your suppose to peg a bullet weight on it, and just steadily retreive it in like a spinnerbait? I don't know for sure though, haven't had the guts to rig one up. The color I have is Watermelon/red.
  24. I like Mepps and Black Rooster Tails, but I only fish em when im targeting trout.
  25. Yeah im currently trying to master the jig. But im having trouble detecting the hits every now and then. By this I mean sometimes I feel something and it kinda feels like the jig is hitting a stick(but its really a fish)... then I feel the quick tap tap and before I can set the hook its no longer in his mouth >. Now if I did set the hook once I felt what might have been a stick and it is a stick, then im screwed cause I just set the hook right into a big stick and there goes my jig, yet when I wait a sec longer to truly tell if it is indeed a fish, he spits it before I can set the hook. Another problem I have is hooking the fish, now when he picks up the jig and you can no longer feel the jig, then I can usually hook the fish 80% of the time. But when he gives it that quick tap tap tap, I then miss him 50% of the time. Sometimes I wait after that tap, to see if he'll inhale the jig and start swimming away with it, but he just spits it and end of story. How do you hook him on that quick tap tap? Just gotta be as quick as possible? Also how long do you let the jig sit? And do how many times do you let it sit still like this during one cast? Cause I have trouble letting it sit 15secs 2 times in 1 cast lol.
