  1. I usually only fish for smallies in the fall/spring. It's COLD right now. Water temp is probably 45-47. If I were to go bank fishing at a great smallie lake around me, would I generally find them RIGHT NOW deep still or shallow? May be a stupid question to you who fish for them often, so sorry.
  2. Matter of fact I have a challenge to someone. I have the storage for a huge video on my site. Someone here who can read a graph, make short clips. LBH could edit it into one big video. I am starting to wonder why this wasn't one of the first things ever sold at bass pro.....I bet because most use the temp and then stumble into fish, the graph played how much into this.....I bet not much.
  3. I have thought about this as well. Amen! Books/Magazines/articles/www etc are great information. Telling someone "there's this secondary point out here, where the grass meets some stumps"............uhm you "saw" that on a finder? What did the left to right x37 for example show? A curve in the screen? No one has come up with something you can watch and grasp IMHO. We ALL could really learn so much from a video that is VERY informative, shows a simple finder (an x37 for example), and shows a side by side screen. Have the guy be in scuba gear and cast to him, so he can follow the lure back to the boat........like how we fish. I can read temp's and I have seen shad on a graph, but understanding how a left to right picture on a finder relates to the actual bottom is a whole other thing. I personally would pay 100$ + for someone to make just a finder video only.
  4. Thanks for the information Matt.
  5. Nice pic's.
  6. That gill is more impressive than the bass to me lol. Nice fish!
  7. Ice and me don't mix. a ft of ice, okay, 3 inches.........not a chance!
  8. I heard (and this could be WAY off) but that they spend in a season about $55k. If you're not placing even in 10th, and sponsors are not beating down your door, yep I can see negative balances in your finances. I wanted when I was younger to fish professionally, but it's too hard $ wise. Now ironically I am after only big fish, so the run and gun/beat the bank/ won't work.
  9. There should be several more moving into March and April. I am originally from N.E. Texas (Texarkana) but don't know where Cisco is. What body of water did he pull this from? Cisco Lake?
  10. That lowe is a nice boat though. Good looking boats guys
  11. Randall, that's awesome!!!
  12. Someone also get that stupid doll up on the pole on tape......If she's still there. We tried (and still am trying) to figure out why someone put her up there, and what it means. :-/
  13. I had that bullet weight idea a long time ago. I actually posted hinting about it about a year ago, but couldn't never carry it anywhere. Yes I have now seen those weights too, at that time though, they were not out. Matt that's actually a great technique. Anyone else????
  14. Okay, so since I am never going to do anything with my thoughts/inventions, I will post a couple of ideas I have had recently and still yet to have seen on the market. Have you guys ever come up with an invention? Did you try and get someone to listen? Did you actually do something with it? etc. etc. One invention is for reminding about the drain plug. I have been in countless situations with my friends where had I not said anything about the plug, we would/could have been in trouble. One time the drain plug was actually forgotten but we remembered before we unhooked from the trailer completely. You could have a water resistant/water proof plug that at the end of that drain plug there was a button that emitted a noise, chirp, beep etc. When you and your friend, or alone, went to check the plug, you would just push the button and it would emit a beep. It would be an audible cue to everyone there that the plug is in. The plug would not need to be more than say 10 ft water resistant and the battery used could be a NiMH or something like this, that would last for a VERY long time. The drain on the battery from a simple noise would be NOTHING. The as seen on tv slogan would be "You hear the beep, it's okay to get into the seat" ;D I have also thought about making the drain plug even easier to use. Most I have seen have that t handle that you screw in. Why not have the plug's top be like our car gas knobs? Those are easy on the hands, easy to screw in, and maybe you get the click click sound once the plug is secured? Even the gasket on a drain plug (some I have seen had a little ring but I wouldn't call that a gasket by any stretch) could have better gaskets IMHO. Taking this a step further, (but all older boats would have to be retro-fitted is a "drawback") new boats have a 'drain plug' light on the dash like a seat belt light on car dashes. It would only come on, if the magnets were not joined together, from the plug to the boat etc. Magnets that are very strong can and do stay adjoined even underwater. (again the plug usually only sits 3 ft in the water anyways) This would not cost manufacturers anything to add a light to the dash, and they could even tap into an already ran circuit. Another invention I have is for bullet weights to actually have encased in the lead, rattles. It could be in the mold, a place to have the plexi-glass that would house the rattles, before being pressed as a final product. I Photoshopped a design for this but can't get anyone to reply/read the emails/listen etc. We probably all have used rattles in worms/craws etc, but IMHO, those rattles fall out/don't stay inside the plastics well especially after catching one fish! It the bullet weight itself already has the pellets in there, no need for those inserts, etc. You could go as far as painting (or buying the weights) already painted your favorite color too. (I.E. black rattled 1/4 oz weight t-rigged on a black 10in. power worm) I have these ideas all the time and really wish I could get with developers, R and D companies etc. Oh well I guess. :
  15. I am looking for something under 10K$. I want to be able to fish bigger bodies of water, as well as smaller. I actually want a deep v boat for stability reasons (waves/wife/storms/ride itself etc) I don't know what dead rise means. is 8 degrees bad? I found this boat 2007 TRACKER Super Guide V-14 SC off tracker boats....would fit my needs. My neighbor had a center console kingman or triumph (I forget the name) and I thought that boat was awesome. I figured it didn't weigh much either since it was mainly plastic. Can someone explain dead rise and the other terms I might not get? Beam is that from one side to the other? etc Also this (or something like it and cheaper) will "fit" my wants right? Thanks
  16. I will be the first to admit it. I have boat ***....
  17. That looks like a great rod. I enjoyed the workstation pictures too. I need a barn. lol
  18. I like using small craws actually. The head allows the bait to stand up, smallies are always eating craws, so why not...besides everyone I know fishes finesse worms on shakey heads.....gotta change it up.
  19. I trim them all the time. I also trim the skirt. As a matter of fact, last night I did these. http://mighty-hero.panicnow.net/Bass/jig1.jpg http://mighty-hero.panicnow.net/Bass/jig2.jpg Fishing a jig is a harder, more in depth topic, but basically I keep constant contact with the bottom, fish them slow, and purposely try and find the nastiest cover I can to throw them in
  20. Welcome aboard Travis.
  21. Water/books/internet/people. In that order I think
  22. $3 dollar bill meets ratboy. OUTSTANDING ;D ;D
