  1. One of the first bass I ever caught came on a baby bass colored floating Rebel Minnow. I worked it as a topwater. I would give it a twitch so it would dive down a bit, then let it float back to the top. Let it sit for a few seconds then repeat. I have also caught many bass using a "crankbait" style retrieve with minnow baits. As far as working a floating minnow bait in true jerkbait style, it works well when the fish are more active or when they are just used to seeing pointers and x-raps all day. Like many of the baits out there, your only limitation is your imagination. A killer winter pattern that I use that I don't talk much about is carolina rigging a F-7 rapala and working it as slow as I can stand.
  2. ;D ;D ;D Won't find anyone using that in California, legally that is. Nice fish.
  3. Isn't catch and release great?
  4. No The ones fishing are the spoiled ones. Nice fish man
  5. I have an Abu Morrum 1600 UM Forrel that will throw a 4" weightless Fin-S fish no problem. Don't know how much that weighs but I know it's not a lot. Also thrown 1/16oz crappie jigs without an issue.
  6. The longer bills give you a wider action while the shorter bills are much tighter. Keep in mind that the plastic you choose to use will make a huge impact on the action of the bait.
  7. X2 Looks like a fun time.

There you go dude! I always thought that my 5" black w/ chartruse head superspook was a killer night bait. :-[
  10. The Salad Spoon is a good bait and too have a dopey sounding loyalty to Lunker City baits. If LC had the deep pockets for sponsership and advertising that SK has, you would see a lot more of them. I'm not trying to knock SK, their baits are fine, I just think that Lunker City is under rated.
  11. Now I know I am just getting technical here but it's not a "shakey head" worm. Its a shaking worm, as in glass and brass shaking. These worms have been around for at least a decade before the shakey head revolution of the last couple of years. But I'm just babeling. I agree with you that the Robo Shakin worms are great for a shakey head.
  12. I like amber or vermillion for sight fishing. Don't know much about the glass vs polycarbonate lenses though. Just got my girl a pair of Costa Del Mars. I believe there are the "Isabell" with the amber lenses. She loves them.
  13. I say go for it. There are some conditions that are better than others but swimbaits will catch fish pretty much year round.
  14. Though I have caught fish over five punds on the 8, I typically use the 10.
  15. Nice fish! I would say 3-3.5 lbs.
  16. Nice chunky fish. Congrat on the new PB!
  17. Yeah you do. I had one of my best days ever down at El Cap.
  18. It's been tough for me the last couple of weeks as well. Went to San V on Sunday and my Girlfriend and I only had two fish to show for it.

I like em! The top one reminds me of an Abrogast Snooker. Good job
  20. Saw a guy and his son at San V on Sunday in a blue and white 05 Procraft. Almost thought it was you. Wind was dead calm out there!
  21. I've had some luck at Steven's Creek. Small but free
  22. Oh BTW, when is Oliver going open Hookeduptackle so I can pick up one of the trout patterned ones?
  23. They all look great Jay. Really like Pond Hopper's.
  24. Looks pretty hippie to me
