  1. Really? My girlfriend throws a Fish Arrow Flat Jack on her 6'6" MH Avid casting rod with no problems and that thing only weighs 1/8oz less than your swim bait. With all the cranks you make I am sure that you have a deep crank rod that could handle it, or a flipping stick like matt suggested.
  2. Great baits! Glad to see you caught some fish on those little things!
  3. X2!
  4. Cheep rods and reels, no. Lures, well that depends on what you mean by cheap. I have a stock pile of $18-$30 cranks but I still throw Fat Free Shads and Normans instead. In this case, the cheap stuff is my favorite. Same goes for Jerkbaits. HJ-10 husky jerk is my hands down favorite and that bait is cheap comapred to the Vision 110's I have in my box.
  5. DOA makes some good ones.
  6. Congrats!! Nice fish!
  7. I do it every time I am done fishing. Been doing it so long that I don't even think about it anymore, it's just a habbit.
  8. I started a thread a month or so ago about how disapointed I was with the one I had.
  9. Unless you are doing a lot of roll casts in and around structure, for that I use a 6ft MH pistol grip. But that is not the norm for me. Most of the lakes around here don't have that much cover so I like a 7ft fast action medium.
  10. Thanks for the update.
  11. I just sent you an email on the 7fter.
  12. I don't know if he is busted or not. When I read what he wrote he said he was sponserd by the tackle shop, not the rod company. The guy at the tackle shop probably hooks him up with whatever he wants and he seems to want kistler.
  13. I know that Roland has endorsed some dumb stuff but he has also endorsed some great stuff. The Blue Fox Big Bass spinner bait used to be my favorite spinner bait and I would still use it if I could find any. I use megastrike and Yamamoto products almost every time I go out. The guy's show may seem like a infomercial but if you don't like it, don't watch it. I wouldn't knock something just because he endorsed it. The guy could probably outfish 98% of us on this board.
  14. You will be able to maintain a deeper depth with the short bill because there is less resistance pulling the bait up toward the surface.
  15. Aren't the new Cabela's Prodigy round reels Ryobi? Could be wrong but they sure look like a Ryobi.
  16. You would be amazed how much some rods with foam grips cost. I would say that at least 90% of the rods out there that cost $400 or more have foam handles.
  17. I thought it was so funny when I first saw the short wide spool reels because I can remember in the early 90's when the long shallow spools were all the rage. They both advertise better distance. I agree. Even with baitcasters. People here in the states think you need way more line than you really need.
  18. This is a silly comparison. If you are going to compare a St. Croix and a Loomis you should compare models in the same price range. Lets compare 7' Medium Heavy casting rods from both compaines. GL3 $215 Avid $180 IMX $255 LT $230 They are all great rods and can't go wrong with any of them. I am partial to one of these brands but I own rods from both.
  19. They can be if you put a fat bodied bait on them.
  20. Looks like you had a blast! Congrats!
  21. Sounds like you had a legit pattern going to me.
  22. I had the same thing happen on a spittin image. You weren't down by Sebastian FL were you ;D Thanks for sharing the photo. I'm going to have to show it to my partner.

Truely amazing!!! With all of the livebait throwing bass eaters we have around here, I'd be whiting out that spot too! When it's good we hold on to them in the livewell for a while.
