  1. Monday @ Fork. One 17" and one 21". I'm ready to go back!
  2. If the date works out, I'll come back for round 2.
  3. Welcome kansasbass. A friend of mine just moved from that area to Tyler and fished alot at Wyandotte as well. He only lived about 5 miles from there and had an aluminum Skeeter.
  4. You can look at fishing stuff on the internet without the IT guys at work freaking out.
  5. "There's one. " Once in a while its "oh %^*&, it's a good one"
  6. Man, that's a bummer. At least they could have kept you on till after ice out. Good luck, something better is bound to come your way.
  7. Clayton, must not be too terrible according to the picture in your avator!
  8. Matt, as with most of those Ozark style lakes that time of the year, rogue style baits with 8# p-line fishing points (main and secondary) should be a good choice. Reddish or pinkish and white rapala or pointers is a must, as well as something with yellow. Baby bass colors to. I would also have tied on a bitsy bug jig n pig, senko and baby brush hog. Make sure you get rid of your Texas line! Go LIGHT line with green or clear.
  9. I guess this is why I should not play the lottery Left Fri mornin pulled my boat all the way down to Fork Sun up to sundown Saturday throwed traps, jigs, senkos etc. to no avail. Return trip on Sunday As they say "Lots of fishin and no catchin!" but had a great weekend travelin with my son and enjoyed that Texas hospitality! Don't give up. I've fished Fork 40 or 50 days and have had my arse kicked and have days where I couldn't believe how may 7 - 9 pounders were in one area.
  10. Guys, I would contact the golf course superintendent. He is there before the golf pro is out of bed in the morning. Assuming you would fish early in the morning (before golf) he would be the one to get to know. Take a trash bag with you some morning before sunup, pick up cans, dog wrappers and other trash around the pond and ask him where the dumpster is around the maintenance facility. You will probably have better luck getting permission. Some still won't let you, but you never know till you try. I know this works when someone asks me for permission.
  11. Sounds like a decent day that was well worth the trip. I make the trip to Fork 5 - 6 times a year from Kansas. If I were y'all, I think I would make a few more trips. Increase the odds for that SAL and/or personal best.
  12. I drive to Texas a lot in the winter. Have made two trips already and plan 3 or more before the end of March. That, and fish power plant lakes.
  13. All right, here's the best I can do: 1. Get to 69 Hwy. You're on your own here. 2. From the north; go about 13 miles south of Ft. Scott to 680th Ave., go west on 680th 2 miles to 200th St., turn north on 200. 200St. IS the boat ramp a little over a mile from 680th Av. 2b. From the south; go about 4 miles north of Arma to 680th Ave. then do the same. Warning, the last three miles is on gravel roads but the boat ramp is double, concrete, and has a small dock. Bone Creek is a lot like Lake Fork with it's cover, so DO NOT run on plane outside the boat lanes and main lake. Your closest motels will be in Ft. Scott, about 20 minutes north of the ramp or Pittsburg, about 20 minutes south of the ramp. The better food and adult beverages are located in Pittsburg. There is another ramp at the west end of the lake, but that means five more miles of gravel roads and it is more difficult to find. Let me know if I can answer any other questions.
  14. Goal--SAL (13#) between now and the end of March Realism--anything better than my PB of 10# 4oz.
  15. I went the weekend before. Only about 10 boats and had a pretty good day on sammy, rogue and spinner bait. I decided not to go yesterday, figured you could walk from boat to boat along the bluff.
  16. Rock Chalk, baby!
  17. If I'm not fishing Fork that weekend, I'll be there wearing my Orange Bowl Champions hat and tee.

And how! I hate to admit it but it was a genuine whoopin'! I almost wish we could have traded bowls with you. We probably could have beaten R-kansas.
  19. MO

    They're all..... :-X nevermind, it's just a mizzourah thing.
  20. My I-finder H2O works great on the lake with the navionics chip and in the car with the Map Create chip. The only problem is that the screen is too small for my ageing eyes.
  21. Welcome to the forums. Not much banter here, lots to learn and an opportunity to share.
  22. Don't know, but I'm probably going to give it a shot Sunday or Monday.
  23. Depends on where you're going. I was in KC this week and everything was iced over. Down here in SE Kansas most everything is open. If you do bring your gear, pack light. Black n blue jig n pig and black n blue baby brush hog is all you need. Like KU said, probably not.
  24. I went to the Mo. get to gether last year and had a ball even though it was close to Columbia. : I've got no problem with someone coming from Mo., Ok., or wherever. The entry fee over there was a couple of lures, with the winner taking all. If we get enough, maybe we could pay two or three places. Just a suggestion because it's just for fun, anyway. One question though, we might have to check with KDWP about a permit. Don't want to get anyone in trouble.
  25. Kansas and that other school our ex coach went to should make pretty good progress on catching them on the all time win list in the next couple of years.
