  1. I always figure if you AVERAGE one fish an hour it's an OK day. One every half hour is a good day. Anything more than that is bonus. As others have said it depends on the fishery, weather, and patterns.
  2. Both great advice. Probably the most important thing is to not 'freak out' when you hook the big one. If you can, once you know it's a good one, take a deep breath and try to be patient.
  3. Went to Ft. Scott city lake yesterday morning. Buddy and I caught 20. Nothing over 2.5# and mostly on spinner baits. Did catch a 12# channel on a baby brush hog under a dock. ;D
  4. Ding, ding, ding, we have a winner! 8-)

    Welcome aboard!
  6. I was in Little Caney Creek at Lake Fork about four years ago on Veteran's Day weekend and had one of those days. On my 5th cast with a jig n pig I caught a 9.8# lm. Within one hour I had a 9.3, 8.8, 8.3, and a 6.6 in the boat. I could 'feel' where they were and how they wanted the jig n pig. And I broke one off one that was bigger than any of them. It is definately fun when you get in the zone.

I have acquired a Smith & Wesson six shot revolver I need some help with. On the 4" barrel is "38 S & W Special CTG". It is nickel with pearl (looking) grips that have a longhorn engraved (stamped) in them. The serial # on the butt and cylinder match with the number 470###. On the inside where the cylinder closes are the numbers 24###. It's in really good shape with a tight cylinder and fires nicely. I've been looking at S & W web pages without much success. Any one have a clue as to it's value or age? Thanks
  8. Another vote for the H20. I've got one in the vehicle with map-create and one for the boats with Navionics. Can't go wrong.
  9. I'm on my second Coleman Crawdad and love it. Very stable, roomy, lightweight and sturdy. It's 12' long and only weighs about 135#. The Pelican looks to be a pretty good one as well. Wired for lights, livewell and looks like there is plenty of room.
  10. When I lived in SE Nebraska the game warden was a good friend of mine and a pretty good golfer. He would bring me beer that he had confiscated from minors and take me fishing in places no one else could go. In SE Kansas I think we have one for four counties with two decent sized lakes, hundreds of public strip pits and one of the best deer and turkey hunting areas in the country. Waaaaaayyy understaffed around here.
  11. Gotta love it when you can drive a golf cart down to the pond to do some fishing! ;D
  12. "Dropped" to $3.799 here.
  13. Put an emty trash bag in your pocket and go early in the morning and ask the golf course superintendent. This is coming from a golf course superintendent. ;)
  14. Welcome back!
  15. What everybody else said, but it's been so long I'd like to see one just to see what I'd do.
  16. I would agree with you about the '96 Masters, but I'm not sure about The Open Championship. I think the 53 year old finally wore out with four intense days of competition and four days of less than perfect conditions. I'm no Norman fan but I really wanted him to have one more good day.
  17. I have a couple of "Pets" that I have caught numerous times over the last 15 years. They have very abnormal markings. One of them in Texas was 8 something two or three years ago and last winter she went 10.25# Hopefully in a couple of years she will let me catch her again.
  18. 200 + state owned strip pits from Pittsburg to Oswego open to the public. Tons of bass, bluegill, crappie, catfish, and even walleye and trout.
  19. For lakes that don't have maps available try ACME mapper.
  20. That's an awesome day of corn fed hogs. I lived in SE Nebraska for a while and there's a bunch of good fishing up there in Huskerland. Great job!
  21. Topp zone, Acme mapper 2.0, and Google Earth. I prefer Acme mapper for MOST lakes.
  22. Yeah! Tiger in an 18 hole play-off...Nothin' to talk about... 8-) Tiger's putt on 18 was like Chalmers shot at the end of regulation in the NCAA Basketball Championship. Yes it's going to overtime but TMIAO (this match is all over) Don't get me wrong, Rocco is a great guy and it would be awesome if a 45 year old, short knocker, could win, but it ain't going to happen.
  23. Tyler, Tx. Buddy of mine moved down there from K.C. last July and loves it. Economy is pretty good, housing is cheap (compared to KC), no better area for bass a crappie. Probably 120 or so good lakes within 2 hours from 60 - 60,000 acres.
  24. Thank you! X3 Also I've used a jig n pig to count down the depth. Depending on the weight, 1 - 2 feet per second.
