  1. Twice in 40 years, by the same warden, on the same lake, on consecutive days and I was in the same boat both days. :
  2. Without a doubt, fall into early winter. People are hunting, winds are down, jet fleas are gone and fish are feeding a bunch.
  3. I put 'yes' but 'sometimes' would be a lot better answer for me. If I go to a familiar lake I rarely check them, but if I go to a new lake I'll find all the information I can. I look at local reports, previous years reports, tournament results, seasonal articles and any thing else I can find out about the lake.
  4. The bait monkey has fallen. When I walk into a store and say, "They don't have anything that I don't have". However, the Lure Making Monkey has really kicked my butt the last year or so.
  5. 4.75 # is the best I've come up with this year on a hand poured swim senko type bait. I haven't been to Texas yet though.
  6. Good looking boat, what size Yammy is on it?
  7. There use to be a bunch of brush piles about every 40 or 50 yards along the area you have circled. They were in about 15' of water, probably 20 to 30 feet from the bank. Are there still some smallies in there?
  8. I'm pretty sure that an employer cannot physically track how many hours you work if you are not an hourly employee. As has been mentioned, chronic tardiness can definately be an issue. Most places definately keep track of sick time, vacation, or PTO.
  9. I just bought a 2000 last week and so far I love it. Never seen a boat that old in such awesome condition. There's one in Wichita at Mid America (I think) Marine and one in Hutchinson but they are not in show room condition by a long shot. Good luck, I searched for about three months and finally found mine on boattrader.com
  10. Not sure it would last more than a cast or two. I mainly use plastics that I make and most of them I cook with salt. Interested in seeing other opinions.
  11. The only thing I have experienced is that fish in river systems seem less affected by fronts, etc. But with a river that is not 'flowing' into an impoundment fish activity always seems to act like the rest of the lake. Just my experience, not any scientific facts.
  12. I'd been looking for a few months for the same thing. I bought a 2000 Triton 186 with a 150 on it Tuesday. I found it on boattrader.com They are out there but you just have to be patient to get exactly what you want.
  13. Be sure you are getting it up to 340 -350 degrees. Don't guess if you're just starting.
  14. Also a good chance that there have been pack rats if it has been sitting that long. Those little love shiney things and boat wiring.
  15. Where are you in Ks.? I've got an 89 Tracker (for sale) that I did a complete redo on a couple of years ago. If you are anywhere near Pittsburg it might be worth your trip to let me tell you what worked and what didn't work. The very first thing to do is get rid of the oil injector system and just mix your own gas. I added on some storage compartments that are definately needed on that boat.
  16. That's me unless I'm going on a 4 or 5 day trip, then I'll take another 10 - 15 minutes to pack.
  17. I hear ya cart, I had an 88 Skeeter starfire with a 175 and loved it. My current boat is a 89 Tracker TX17 which has been to Fork and others many times with only a 35 merc. With the new boat, I'd get the warranty but would have to purchase trolling motor upgrade, onboard charger, electronics upgrade, etc. With the Triton I get the Cadilac, storage, comfort, stability and quite a bet more HP. This will probably be the last boat I purchase so I want it to be around for a few years. :-/
  18. I found a 2000 Triton, TR186, 150 merc., Lowrance on dash and bow, Brute 67, 12/24 trolling motor, a heavy duty cover and almost anal service records from the time it was new for a fair price of $12,000. It also has a 3-bank onboard charger and is in absolutely mint condition. Exactly the boat I am looking for. Now the issue...I stopped at BPS and found a new 2008, 18' aluminum Tracker with a 90 merc. for about the same price. I fish very few tournaments and most of the lakes around here the 90 is plenty of motor. I do make several trips to Fork and other east Texas lakes every year. Which way would you go? Thanks for any input.
  19. Pictures aren't too good as I was by myself. 4.75#, st. record 11.80# for 40.25 Caught on a home made swim senko style at a state wildlife area pit in Labette Co. Ks. yesterday. Was 20.25" long.
  20. Cool!
  21. www.lurecraft.com Before you order anything go to www.tackleunderground.com To coin a phrase from the PGA tour...These guys are good. You will learn everything you need to know and then some.
  22. Just remember Kansas quit recruiting him for a couple of reasons, but we do have a couple of decent recruits and a pretty fair returning class on a team that made the sweet 16 after losing our starting 5 + 1 to professional basketball the year before.
  23. I know it Bear, I was just too impatient. Might have to do something with your Beaver mold, though.
  24. Hmmm How ironic that Thad and 1instripes are BOTH from Va. Just kidding, congratulations!!
